Relaxing & Welcoming - Great Family Get Away
Relaxing & Welcoming - Great Family Get Away
What an awesome vacation home! From the cleaniness & organization of the home itself to the private pool / hot tub / dock in the back, this mom actually was able to relax for once and enjoy time away with my family. In my eyes, the house is PERFECT and so family-friendly that my 3 year old son started to call it his own :) The property is on a quiet street and the neighbors were so nice. The houses around the canal are so amazing that I could only dream about my next home. And despite the fact that we arrived during a Tropical Storm, the house had so much to offer that we barely even realized that it wasn't sunnry out. It's a great location to visit Fort Myers beach as well as Sanibel Island. Plenty of restaurants nearby but the house felt so much like home that we took the opportunity and stayed home serveral nights to grill out while the kids were able to continue swimming. We will definitely try to come back in the very near future.

no privacy and noisey
no privacy and noisey
we rented this beautiful home in what we thought would be a private, quiet vacation home and afford us the privacy we were looking for. However, we quickly realized we did not get what we paid for, while the home is in fact beautiful, there was a problem with the filtration system on the pool and the owner quickly resolved this. The second day of our stay , a backhoe and other loud equipment showed up and began digging 2 feet from the side of the pool , with construction workers lurking about all around the pool the fumes from the equipment (diesel ) and the noise from the concrete saws and the floats in the canal made enjoying the hot tub and pool impossible. we had to yell to hear one another in the pool area. the construction blocked the tiki area and the path to the dock there were mounds of dirt and sand as tall as us blocking the side walk. the workers vehicles blocked the driveway and they put ply wood in the front yard for the equipment . come to find out this construction was scheduled by the city of Cape Coral to repair a drainage pipe running the full length of the rental property. and was 1 to 2 feet from the side of the house and pool area down to the canal and into the canal. (no fishing from dock) no privacy for family swimming, no relaxing on the tiki deck, no napping in master bed room, no relaxing in the jacuzzi hot tub. We called the owner and property manager only to be told all of this was out of their control and there is nothing they can do for us. All of this was such a shame because the house is beautiful and the pool is beautiful, but what good is all of that if you cannot enjoy them. We feel cheated out of our vacation of relaxation and privacy by the pool and hot tub and having quiet family time. Had someone told us before we went that the construction was scheduled we would have gone somewhere else. We purposely rented a private home to avoid having to share the pool area and noise. we even emailed the owner before our stay to let her know this is what we were looking for privacy and quiet and spend alot of family time in the pool. Very disappointing stay .

Owner response: As an owner I do all I can do to provide a beautifully maintained home in a peaceful and manicured area. Unfortunately I am not in control of weather, lightning strikes and sink holes. On Saturday, the day of their arrival, we found out a terrible storm during the night struck a palm tree near the pool pump and cracked a pipe requiring us to turn off the pump until it was repaired. I called prior to their arrival and notified them of the scheduled repair and the pool was usable. On Monday without any notification from the city, the water and sewer department came to repair a cracked drain pipe causing a sink hole between mine and my neighbors home. Had I known work was going to be done I would have blocked off the dates on my calendar. Workers stated it would take 2 days and I told the renter there was nothing I could do about the repair work. On Wednesday at 11am the renter emailed me saying the work was not complete and he would like to discuss this. I have records to show I called within hours of his email and sent 2 return emails that same day with no response from him. The day of their departure they called to ask for a late departure. I invited them to stay as late as they would like or to even stay another night at no charge. Nothing else was mentioned by them. If they had returned my call or emails on Wednesday, I would have been able to refund their remaining stay if they wanted to go somewhere else or offer a 50 percent discount on a one week stay next year. Since they did not respond to my 3 attempts to discuss the situation and there was no mention of it when they called about staying longer, I assumed all was fine. It was an unfortunate situation beyond my control but I decided to refund one half of the weekly rate. I sincerely sympathize with them and wish there was something else I could have done. I have never had a situation like this in 5 years of renting. It is a wonderfully peaceful and beautiful slice of paradise. A guest book at the home has comments from people all over the world who have stayed and just love it. Please weigh the circumstances before weighing this critical review. I trust your decision will favor our home.
