Great stay at this classic Victorian home in Castro District of San Francisco!
VRBO Bear stayed here - 08/31/2010
This classic Victorian home in the Castro District was the perfect “den” for our San Francisco getaway. Bear with the steps leading up to the entrance – the charming décor and modern furnishings are totally worth it!
Whip up a bowl of honey using the vintage style appliances in the fully-appointed kitchen, and enjoy a meal at the large dining room table in front of a Victorian fireplace. Step through the French doors, and warm your paws at the outdoor fireplace on a cool San Francisco night.
Our sleuth of bears took full advantage of the Castro area, enjoying local eateries, walking to nearby Market Street, venturing to the Mission, and taking in the views from the top of Dolores Park. Castro was also a great jumping off point to grab mass transportation to other well known areas. From fortune cookies in Chinatown to chowder at Fisherman’s Wharf, we were really able to take in all that San Francisco has to offer.

Beautiful home in an excellent location. The decor and furniture were beautiful with the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Well equipped with everything you could need for your stay including WI-FI. The house was spotlessly clean with plenty of fresh linen and towels. Small touches make this place extra special including the beautiful books placed in different rooms. These included books on the history of these Victorian homes. The dining room hosted several family meals around the huge table. The location is great, the Muni stop is just on the corner and will take you quickly into town. Safeway is close by along with a variety of cafes and shops. The area feels very safe and we were happy to stroll late at night. We never met Navin but he was really helpful on the phone and we knew that we only had to ring if there was a problem(which there wasn't!) Would love to stay here again. The smaller apartment downstairs looks just as beautiful (I peeped through the window!) We really did love this place and were all sad to leave. Keep up the good work Navin!

We enjoyed everything about staying at this property! It is an awesome location - so close to public transportation and great food - and every detail of the house is perfect! It was comfortable and large enough to give our party of 4 enough privacy! The owner is a delight to work with and was very helpful with questions we had about anything and everything! If we ever venture back to SF I would stay there again without searching any other options - if you have the chance don't pass up the opportunity!

We stayed here for my Mom's 70th birthday recently and it was just fantastic. Navin is such a kind person and was very accomodating in answering our questions and providing suggestions about where to eat, etc. in the city. He has amazing taste and has renovated his home to a very high standard. The pictures look good on vrbo but the real thing is even better in person! Lots of room, high ceilings, lovely ornate details in keeping with the Victorian era and decorated to combine modern touches with period pieces. I am a design afficiando and was totally impressed. This is an amazing "home away from home" and I would highly recommend it to anyone. The home was ideally located for taking public transit, so you don't need a car. Just a short walk to the nearest Muni train/cable car station. The Castro area is really funky- very like the West End in Vancouver/B.C. where I live. We really enjoyed walking the streets and felt very safe there. Next time we come for a visit to San Fran we will be sure to stay here again. Thanks for everything Navin!

This is a fabulous property! We had a very memorable time staying @ this house. It was very stylish, comfy and had amazing energy! I'm always a bit skeptical about staying at a Home Away, but we were not disappointed in the least bit. All the amenities of a swanky hotel and more!!! I would highly recommend a stay. It's a very special and magical location! Thank you, Navin! You were beyond kind and helpful during our stay. See you in LA soon...we hope! A fun night in Santa Monica on us as a return for all your hospitality! All the best, The Allisons :)
Owner response:Hi Kristine, It was very nice to meet you and your beautiful family. I appreciate your wonderful review. I do hope to make it out to Santa Monica soon. Cheers, Navin

Lovingly and luxuriously restored Victorian splendour with quality equipment and superb fittings throughout, in a convenient location - all this AND a kind helpful landlord - no hesitation in recommending this home from home to stay in when visiting San Francisco. Check out Tartine Bakery and Bi-Rite on 18th and go from there!

We rented both upper and lower levels for our families to stay on our wedding week. Both levels were beautifully furnished with many caring details and excellence accommodations. Our families from Canada, Hong Kong, and Sacramento had a wonderful stay and would still talked about it till today! The six-burner stove was especially impressive. We had many memorable meals and gatherings in the house! High end appliances on both levels, the wine cooler fridges were such a nice touch. Navin is a very sweet guy and so pleasant to work with. We highly recommend this place and will definitely revisit for future stays! The fireplace at the patio is a steal!! Thank you Navin~
