Our party of five ladies had a lovely trip to Arroyo Seco for some spring training and were wowed by our accommodations at Jamie's house. We visit Taos once a year and this was the best place yet! The house has a wonderful layout, unique and personal artwork, great atmosphere, awesome hot tub, and a very considerate landlord who checks all the details. Love the bathrooms with claw foot tubs and views out to the mountains. Private Cougar Den downstairs. For those that couldn't ski, we found great hiking along scenic creeks and up to waterfalls and cool rock features right from the house. Excited that we may have seen a rare honey badger in the woods. A satiating experience for all, will definitely return.

This was a fantastic place to stay if you are interested in getting away from the chaos of everyday life! It was in the mountains, and very private. It was within close proximity to the town of Taos and the ski valley. It was clean, well maintained, and well stocked. The owner provided phenomenal customer support, and was available to help with anything if needed. We would highly recommend this property. It was very spacious and roomy. We enjoyed skiing, a pottery/raku workshop at Wannamaker pottery, lots of hikes just off the property, and shopping in Taos. We enjoyed DaraThai, The Gorge bar and grill, and Antonio's (right off the plaza). We ate twice at Pizano's, but had some difficulty with service there. The pizza is fantastic, but the veggie lasagna is not. They have an awesome chipotle lime salad dressing!! We took a day trip to Santa Fe, but that was not long enough to spend there. The O'keefe museum was good, but expensive for the size. The Puye cliffs were incredible to see, but the price of admission was ridiculous ($20 pp).

Had a wonderful time at Jamie's place. Kitchen stove worked great, no high altitude problems. Loved the flexibility of the kitchen (able to see the LR and DR) and the fireplace stove was wonderful on cold nights. Hot tub was really nice and very clean. Rooms were spacious and bathrooms great. Even the kids (3 & 5) loved the place. Would definitely stay here again. Laundry facilities were definitely a plus. Next time we won't bring so many clothes! Lots of stairs though. Up to the second floor and up from the parking area. Got quite a workout! Recommend a 4-wheel drive vehicle, as road is "bumpy." Arroyo Seco is a great little town and the Taos Cow had great breakfast burrito's! See you in 2013! Black Lab was very friendly!

10. The Stove Rocks! Even my rice cooked at high altitude came out beautifully. 9. Kitchen is well stocked with spices, utensils and cook ware. If you plan on cooking for your family, this is the place to be. 8. Lucy the Lab…a wonderful, warm greeter. 7. Sledding down the drive is a blast. 6. Claw Foot Tubs – A relaxing way to enjoy your bath. 5. The master suite is huge, with plenty of room to unpack and enjoy your time in the cabin. 4. The HOT TUB. OMG, what a treat after a day on the mountain. Bring Slide-On Shoes for the short trip up the stairs afterward. 3. The Sunset Deck – A gorgeous surprise, and a nice way to enjoy a glass of wine. 2. Beautiful, charming cabin in a secluded setting. 1. The Hospitality – Jamie was a wonderful host. He was very gracious about answering all of my questions before and during our trip. The day we arrived, he sent an e-mail with lots of wonderful suggestions for the area, which was very appreciated. When I needed a recommendation for a restaurant, he was quick to respond. When the power went off briefly, he texted right away to ensure we knew where to find flashlights, etc. Jamie was very accommodating with all of our requests, and helped us feel right at home. We really enjoyed our time in Arroyo Seco, and this was in large part due to Jamie’s friendly, helpful nature.

I highly recommend staying at this house. It was perfect for myself and family. We had 5 adults and 1 toddler (2yrs of age). The description offered is very accurate for this location. The photos are also accutate and we were only surprised at how much better it looked in person. The property was well maintained. We only saw the owner 1 time but he was more than helpful with tips. He checked up on us on our way there and during our stay, even afterwards. For the most part we were left alone to enjoy the wonderful house. The floor heating was fabulous. The view and all of the windows in the house was fantastic. We could see the snow falling anywhere you were in the house. I would highly recommend this house to any friend or relative. I would recommed sight seeing in Arroyo Seco, Taos, Taos Ski Valley, visitng the Pueblos. This was out first Thanksgiving vacationing somewhere. We cooked out Thanksgiving dinner and we stayed for 7 days! It was an absolutely wonderful experience. Thank you so very much for the memories! The only downside was the thin dry air but the owner cannot control the climate :) Other than that, it was perfect!

Spent a week in October at Las Posadas El Salto...and am looking forward to spending another week there next year. 1. The view and nearby hiking...amazing. 2. The layout of the house...very roomy and lots of space for everyone. 3. The kitchen...fantastic to cook in. 4. The hot tub...'nuff said. Jamie was a great host...checking in to be sure that we had everything we needed, and having a fire lit for us for when we got home. Highly recommended.

My husband and I spent four wonderful October days at Las Posadas and are looking forward to going back for a longer visit. Jamie has built (literally) a house that is a warm, welcoming home--and shares it most generously. Every light-filled room is lovely, the beds are incredibly comfortable, and the kitchen has everything a cook could need. The setting is beautiful, with one of the most beautiful hikes we've ever taken just up the road. We loved our evenings in the hot tub, and the vistas from the decks are spectacular.

Jamie, we really enjoyed our week at the house, even if we managed to hit a sort of lousy patch of weather. The setting in the woods was very relaxing, and there was hardly any sense of there being nearby residences. Still, we were close enough to Taos to get in for groceries and other necessities, such as pizza. When the weather moderated, we enjoyed the decks, including watching a spectacular lightning storm combined with a sunset one night. We also enjoyed the hot tub on three evenings after returning from a long day of hiking. We took advantage of the well-equipped kitchen and the grill a lot (just the one venture for pizza, otherwise all breakfasts and dinners on the premises). Everything worked just great, which is not always the case for VRBO properties. Might suggest moving the microwave to a lower location, as the height-challenged (e.g., my wife) couldn't reach it. Location worked great for our hiking expeditions into the national forests and also the BLM areas along the Rio Grande. We noted you have a full electronic setup, with flat screen TVs and all, and assume it all worked well, but we never used it, as we tended to use evenings to just read and work together on crossword puzzles, etc.

Our stay at Las Posadas El Salto couldn't have been better or come at a better time. We were seeking a reprieve from the summer heat and found paradise in the pines. We have been to Taos a number of time but this was the first visit that we opted to stay a little outside of town. We were rewarded with the sense of being away from the crowd, but close enough to restaurants and Arroyo Seco. The house was open and spacious with a very well equipped kitchen. The lower level deck was great for dinning and hanging out, but the upstairs deck, off the master bedroom, was even better, providing incredible views of the valley below and of course those fantastic New Mexico sunsets. Jamie was an excellent host and took time to help us with fishing, rafting, horseback riding and just about everything we needed during our visit (plus he allows guests to use his CD collection). We will be back....

We were fortunate to stay at Las Posadas El Salto in July, 2011 with our two sons and one of their friends. Our purpose was to tour around in the scenic mountains and white water raft the Rio Grande. This being our first trip to Taos - we were very much impressed with the beauty of the town and the surroundings. And our house was wonderful. This home sits up in the mountains in a small community north of Taos and you feel at home the minute you walk in the house. There are breathtaking sunsets/sunrises visible from the upper balcony. The outdoor spa was very enjoyable after a busy day rafting. The downstairs living area open concept makes it very easy for the whole family to have plenty of room to relax. And Jamie is an excellent host and readily available for anything you need. We plan to reserve "our" house during our next visit to Taos!

Our stay at Las Posadas El Salto: It was magical! We planned to escape to this beautiful home after an epic camping trip that covered Jemez Springs and on Northward to the San Juan Wilderness in Colorado. We joined up with my mother-in-law after our mountain adventure back in Arroyo Secco and brought our 3 small pups along with us. The house is in a perfect place. Up a quiet dirt road Nestled in tall pines with a beautiful view and cool mountain breezes. Close enough to town, but secluded enough to never leave if you so choose. What a perfect way to finish up our epic trip. It is perfect for the adventure bound traveler as well as those looking for a quiet beautifully appointed escape. We were truly comfortable and relaxed instantly. The accommodations are perfect and all of the little touches amazing. Cooking was a joy in the huge kichen, and eating was heaven sitting out on one of two expansive decks. The place is so big it could truly fit a larger family gathering very comfortably, but also intimate and cozy enough for the three of us and the pups. There was nothing we had to ask for-- everything we could ever need was right there. We will absolutely be staying with Jamie again, he was a fantastic host. For many years to come! Thank you Jamie!

i have been to taos several times over the years and this property was the best I have stayed in. This trip to taos was for a wedding at the Taos Country Club, where we used the house as a bachelor hangout before my buddy's big day. The first thing I check when I arrive to a VRBO unit is the pantry. It always is nice to know what spices and condiments you need to buy before you go grocery shopping, and this pantry was packed full of great cooking spices, even spanish saffron. the grill was very nice and convenient. the interior was very spacious with huge vaulted ceilings covered with knotty pine. I love that look. bedrooms were extremely spacious as well. bathrooms were stocked with towels and amenities. loved the deck which was great for entertaining. would have appreciated one of those great new mexican outdoor fireplaces though since it gets cold in the evenings. it would have extended our enjoyment of the deck into the wee hours. The property is someplace you have to consider when coming to taos. I personally don't like staying in town. The dust devils and the lack of foliage is depressing for me coming from west virginia. The pine forest at las posadas was ideal. it creates the atmosphere of getting away from it all and it was quiet, cool, and private. last but not least, the owner jamie. the entire trip i never got to meet him. i had owed him half the balance of my bill, and he never came once to spoil our time, bust our chops and collect. he was accommodating over the phone and through texting about every amenity available. he even left several of his personal guitars for us to play while we stayed there. as beautiful as the house was, the best part might have been the graciousness and hospitality of the owner who was never even there. I think that speaks volumes. Thanks, Jamie

We just returned from a wonderful family vacation at this treasure of a vacation home. Our family of five has three skiing sons, ages 12, 16 and 19. We wanted to ski Taos during spring break and relax. Our college-aged son brought a friend from school with him, so we wanted a house with enough space that everyone could be comfortable. We chose this location due to the beautiful photos and previous reviews, and we were not disappointed. We wished we could buy the place! The house was immaculate. The "apartment" perfect for the college guys. The house comfortable and inviting, with interesting artwork, and everything one could ask for in terms of creature comforts, while still being rustic. The views were gorgeous. The kitchen had everything a family of avid cooks could ask for. The hot tub was wonderful. The owner was not only a complete gentleman, he was unobtrusive, yet kind and friendly, and as an experienced expert skier and outdoorsman he had a wealth of knowledge to share with us about the area, both slopeside at Taos and off-mountain. A binder for guests contained many suggested activities, from hiking, horseback riding and skiing to fly-fishing. As we planned to ski most days, it had been a toss-up for us whether to stay at Taos Ski Valley or the 20-25 minutes away in this charming home. We are sure we made the right decision! The local eateries were great, and we could also get to the town of Taos for dinner in just a few minutes (Orlando's we liked a lot for classic New Mexican fare), with beautiful views in every direction during the drive. We shopped for food mostly at Cid's in town, which carries the natural products we prefer (great sausages) as well as the more mainstream Smiths. The property had a nice gas grill, so we did a lot of cooking out. We heartily recommend this lovely home, but hope that those who take advantage of it will treat this custom-crafted residence with the loving care it deserves, so that when we return, it will still be in the wonderful condition that we enjoyed during our stay. We will be back!

The listing perfectly describes the property, though I was mistaken in interpreting the pictures. The apartment has its own entry, and you have to to outside to enter it from the house. All the pictures were right on, it was beautifully clean and very well supplied with everything one might need for cooking, even a number of condiments! When we needed help, the owner was over within the hour. I would definitely recommend this to families, particularly those with teens who could take over the downstairs apartment! And the skiing was GREAT!

We were fortunate enough to stay at this propoerty for an annual "guys ski trip". The house was the perfect spot, location-wise, and it had everything we could want in a vacation rental. We skied all day, sat in the hot tub each afternoon and went into town, either El Saito, or Taos each night for dinner. The owner was steadily checking in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. It was terrific. I only wish he could have delivered a bit more fresh snow on the mountain. I would gladly come back and stay here again on a subsequent trip to the Taos area. Thanks for a great New Mexico experience.

This past January we had the privilege of spending my birthday at this dream home. Yes, home. From, the moment you step foot into the comfortable and spacious living area the home greets you with a warm embrace. The wood stove was the perfect accomplice to the beautiful snow flurries that danced through the night. Even more exciting than the house itself is the HOT TUB!! Oh this hot tub, it was intoxicating, hard to pull myself away, as the weight of the world lifted off my shoulders, enjoying a glass of wine, snow cascading over the Taos mountains, I certainly realized I found my heaven. Posadas El Salto is a sanctuary to any soul, I cannot wait to share more memories with this wonderful home, I feel as if we have created a wonderful friendship.

A dream getaway for me was perfectly fulfilled at Las Posadas El Salto. It has everything from a fair rental fee to unexpected local color. I loved the local bar and restaurant scene near the Arroyo Seco crossroads. The house is a gem and I loved the open layout which was so great for cooking, music, dancing - we had a great time. Clean and well maintained yes. I would recommend this property for up to three couples on a ski trip or a fishing trip or just a week away from it all. I loved walking among the pines, and did I mention the views from the deck of the land as it falls away to the valley floor? Mystical, musical, mountainous, marvelous!
