Wonderful Mountain Getaway with Hot Tub and Fireplace

Year Purchased: 2005

Why the Owner Chose Grand Lake

We love this area of Colorado. It is a bit off the beaten path, yet it is close to some unique scenic areas, with lots of recreation opportunities. When we were looking for a lot to buy, we really liked this location in WildAcres. The lots are well-sized and spaced, the area is quiet and neighbors are friendly.

The Unique Benefits at this House

The North Fork of the Colorado River is a short stroll down the road. The ridge behind the house provides a glorious view of Shadow Mountain Lake, the town of Grand Lake and parts of Rocky Mountain Park. Moose and Elk are frequently seen grazing in the area, often in large groups.

Owner's Map of Grand Lake

The house is located about a mile west of Shadow Mountain Lake on a well-maintained dirt road, 3 miles to the town of Grand Lake, and 5 miles to Rocky Mountain National Park.

    • The home is absolutely wonderful! We've stayed in other homes featured on VRBO before, and they are usually "tricky" photos that show a house that you think is going to be beautiful, but then you get there and it's all run down and dirty and things are broken and disappointing. Not so with this property! What you see is what you get!!! The kitchen was well stocked, nice appliances, everything was beautiful, the decor was very tasteful, the location and setting are beautiful! There aren't neighbors peering right on top of you, the hot tub/fire pit/grilling area and decks are pretty secluded and private! The views were fantastic, everything worked well, and we were extremely comfortable there. I can't think of a single thing I would have wished for that wasn't already there. Thanks Cowies! We'll definitely be back!

    • We had a wonderful stay in this lovely home. As others have said, no amenity has been overlooked. No hard, cheap furnishings here, comfort and relaxation is the theme. Boredom was never a problem for any of us, three generations with even a 14 year old. From horse shoes to the hot tub, we all found something to interest us. I especially liked all the books and information that were available. We fell in love with Grand Lake and the friendly people. It was just the best vacation ever. Where else can you be sitting in the hot tub or around the campfire and have a moose visit? The only problem was that we had to leave and come back to the real world.

    • We stayed at this wonderful mountain home over the weekend, and we had a great time. The house is just beautiful, and our three families were very comfortable there. We all had room to spread out and enjoy ourselves. The house is furnished with every amenity anyone could want - the owners have thought of everyting. We were pleasantly surprised with a moose that visited the back yard and ambled up the hillside right out the back door. We all have voted to return for our next family reunion. Thank you for letting us enjoy your home!

    • This home is absolutely wonderful. The owners have attended to every detail to ensure a relaxing and enjoyable escape. The kitchen is extremely well stocked, the family room and great room areas are spacious, bright and perfect for everything from playing games (which are provided) to curling up with a book by the fire. We could not have asked for a better place to stay - everything was as promised. We particularly enjoyed snowshoeing right out back to the top of the ridge and seeing a herd of elk and then relaxing in the hot tub with the full moon casting shadows down the ridge. Thank you for sharing your beautiful house with us.

    • What an amazing getaway and just what the doctor ordered. Nestled in the forest but still close enough to great skiing. Waking up to the moose family outside our door was priceless. We can't wait to come back!!!

    • Loved it! Great location near RMNP & wonderful cabin. Very much enjoyed the ability to ski one day followed by an evening in the hot tub, and then curl up and read by the fire the next. Hiking the ridge above the cabin at sunset provides spectacular views!

    • I have stayed at this cabin numerous times and can't wait to go back. If you enjoy the cattle-herding feel to the ski-condos, don't stay here! Great location for winter and summer activities in a beautiful, peaceful location. Great room is fantastic. Can't think of a better spot to spend a lazy afternoon lost in a book. ***** When can I go back?
