Papakea Resort holds the record as the least dense resort on the west side - with 11 low-rise buildings on 13 acres. It has a wide open, uncrowded feel, and offers lots of free and fun amenities, lush tropical landscaping, pools & spas, 2-18 hole putting greens and grassy sunning areas. Rent directly from us, the owners, for the best Value and care.
Our one bedroom, one bath condo (#A-202) is direct oceanfront, on the second-floor for privacy while providing exceptionally easy access to the pool and spa below. The "A" building is the most private and quiet ocean front building at Papakea. It's close to parking, and close to the stairs. There is an elevator down the hall. The building is very close to beach access where the swimming is good. The ocean is only about 15 feet from the lanai!
The condo is nicely appointed and fully equipped, with all the appliances and amenities you desire and need. It is one of the few units in Papakea with A/C. Also, there are ceiling fans in every room, including the kitchen! We provide beach towels, a cooler and beach chairs to further enhance your comfort. There is free wi-fi. We manage it ourselves and live right here on Maui, so you can easily contact us should the condo require anything.
Papakea Resort has great amenities and is within easy walking distance to a big grocery store, restaurants, farmers markets and shops. It's on the north end of Kaanapali Beach, one of the best and most famous beaches of Maui. You can access miles of sandy beach just across the grass and walk bridge to the south. The views from our condo are spectacular! From the lanai and living room, you look directly at the island of Molokai and you also have a view of the island of Lanai to the south. Enjoy the energy, sights and sounds of the ocean and surf so close to you, see whales breeching right in front of you all over the channel (During whale season of course. Bring binoculars for extra close up views!). It's a lovely place to relax, rejuvenate and recreate!

I have lived on Maui for 10 years, my husband has been here about 30 years. He runs a dive shop in Lahaina, Dive Maui / Hawaiian Rafting Adventures, and that's how we met - I did some dives with his shop on my first visit to Maui, in 1994, and the rest is history. For fun, we usually do dive vacations around the Pacific Rim - we've gone to Tonga, Fiji, Indonesia, PNG, Tahiti and Micronesia. We have lots more on the to-do list. When here at home, we work super hard - he in the dive business, and me with the rental properties. We enjoy our three dogs, gardening, and exploring the Hawaiian Islands.

Our second stay at the Papakea condo was as terrific as our first. Another enjoyable trip to paradise. We could tell you've done some upgrades to the condo since we were there two years ago--new stove, new washer/dryer, new ceiling fan in the kitchen area, new cushions for the chairs, etc. That all makes the condo even nicer. As last time, the beach towels, coolers, golf putters/balls, etc. are also nice extras that make your condo such a relaxing and easy vacation lodging choice. And, of course, the view is unbeatable from the lanai of A202! We'd recommend this condo to anybody looking for a quiet condo in a great Maui resort location.

STUNNING VIEW!!!!! By far the best thing about this condo is the view. From the patio, the living room and the kitchen your view is ocean!! To watch the whales off in the distance and see the snorkelers off of the reef in front was incredible!! The condo is exactly what you see in the photos. It is a basic condo, the King bed was extremely comfortable, the hide a bed worked well for 1 of our children and the blow up queen size bed was fabulous for the other one. We stayed for 10 days (2 adults and 2 kids) and loved the resort. 2 pools allowed you the freedom to switch if one was busy, the BBQ's around the pools were fantastic for meals, my husband loved this time of the day and chatting with other guests. The grounds and workers were friendly and helpful. Unlike hotels (long corridors and walk forever), the condos are easily accessible from your vehicle (handy with luggage and Costco items). The resort was centrally located to various beaches above and below the condo. We loved our first visit to Maui and will definitely be back!! Thank you for all you did to make our stay pleasant (coolers, beach towels, putters for golf and laundry facilities). We all had a FABULOUS TIME!!
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, sightseeing, girls getaway, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

If you're looking for a quiet, clean and 'out of this world' view place to stay while visiting Maui you've found the right spot. Everything we needed was ready and waiting (cooler, towels, beach toys, etc) To give you an idea of what this unit is like, on arrival I needed to check my email (no charge wireless connection). While trying to read and update my email I was torn between watching the whales or typing on the silly computer! The view is that good. Doesn't matter if you're relaxing on the lanai, cutting up a fresh pineapple on the kitchen counter or checking your email on the dining table, you have the entire pacific ocean in your view (along with the whales, sea turtles, waves and sounds of the ocean). I was tempted to just throw my cell phone into the ocean and it's so close it would not have taken much of a toss to get it there. Close to everything one might need and absolutely the best location in the complex. The bonus is the owner is a dream to work with, thank you again Jan. We had a wonderful time.

Thank you, Jan, for the use of your lovely condo, Papakae #202. The location is breathtaking - several days I never left the lanai - just soaked in the beautiful water, whales and Molokai. The condo is fully stocked and the washer/dryer are really a plus. It is a very comfortable unit at an outstanding value. Not for a wild and crazy party group, but if you're looking for a peaceful, beautiful getaway, this is the place.

This was our first visit to Papakea and we had such a wonderful experience we are already planning our next trip. The view from the lanai is unbeatable - we had a beautiful sunset every night and the sound of the ocean could be heard throughout the condo. Thank you Jan for your tips and suggestions. We loved staying in Jan's condo on Maui. The view from the second story balcony was priceless and would highly recommend the second story location overlooking the breaking waves and view. It also offers a bit more privacy then having to stay on the ground floor and having persons walking by your unit. The condo was clean and had everythign we needed included ice chests, beach toys and linen. The wahser /dryer came in very handy. The entire complex was immaculate and we loved the fact that we were able to Bar-B-que every night on a clean unit and save money by eating in. Everything needed in in the condo and in great shape. We plan on returning to this unit in the future and will be recommending it to our friends.

This was our second stay in A-202. The view and location can not be beat. Being in the "A" building, you are away from the majority of people so it feels more secluded. The view is amazing and being on the second floor gives a far better experience of sunsets and whale watching, plus, you do not have people walking past your door as you do on the lower level units. Jan had made some changes since the last stay including a new stove and washer/dryer. The unit was clean upon arrival and plenty of towels/linens were on hand. Jan's communciation was excellent and organized. She even checked in with us mid-stay to see if we needed anything. Overall, renting this unit was a painless process. I would recommend A-202. Jan Hendrix made our arranging for my son a wedding anniversary stay at her condo so easy and pleasant. The kids had a wonderful time and loved Papakea. I have stayed there before and would love to return one day.
