Beautiful house, perfect location!

Our family stayed in this beautiful house for four days for Spring Break. We have 3 young children 7,4, and 1, and the house worked perfectly for us. This was our first vacation home rental experience so I wasn't sure what to expect. The owner was lovely and when we accidentally forgot a bag with my daughters asthma medicine in it and she overnighted it to us the next morning. The house was very clean and had plenty of fresh linens. The kitchen had everything I needed, including a spice cabinet and items like sugar. I loved that there was a highchair and portable crib for the baby. We walked to Golden Gate park and took the kids to The Academy of Sciences, which is a fabulous museum. There were lots of restaurants and a Starbucks within walking distance. It was a great trip and we would love to stay again in the future!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Dear Tonya: I am very happy that my home was comfortable for your family. It was a bonus having the chance to meet you as you arrived. Thank you for your kind words. I especially like to offer my home to families. Sincerely, Madalienne

My grown son and I stayed here during Thanksgiving week. We were both very happy with the house. It is exactly as pictured and as described, very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped, the layout of the house was very practical. The living area is far enough away from the bedrooms that early-risers and late-nighters can co-exist quite nicely. Having a good place to park the car is a rare luxury in San Francisco. The owner was very helpful and provided good information about the neighborhood. The house is very close to Golden Gate park, and has easy access to public transportation. For example, it is only one block to the bus that goes up to the Golden Gate bridge. I would defnitely recommend the house to anyone planning to visit San Francisco who is looking for the comforts of home while exploring a beautiful city.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: I am delighted that you enjoyed my home. Thank you for your kind words. I also greatly appreciated your interest in being the "eyes and ears" in my home during your stay. You helped me keep ahead in making sure the house is comfortable for future guests. Sincerely, Madalienne

We - a family with 3 children - enjoyed staying in this house for 3 weeks. The home is very well equiped, we had all that we needed for a long stay with a family. The descriptions and photos of the house and the equipment is accurate - it even appears larger than on the pictures. We can really recommend this house for a stay in San Francisco.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

My family and I spent 5 nights in this very convenient SF property and had a very good experience. The renter was very accommodating and easy to work with - always a relief when this is the case. My wife and I had 3 very young children in tow - 5 y, 3 y, and 1 y. The owner provided a crib and high chair for the baby, and the older children shared a bedroom with single beds. The house had all the amenities needed to provide a relaxing, comfortable stay. Wifi was a welcome feature as we planned our visit on the fly. Everything was very thoughtfully labelled and helpful instructions were provided that anticipated our needs. The neighbourhood was quiet and easy to navigate. We had a car which was necessary for getting the 5 of us around. The cost per day was great value for what we got.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

We had a wonderful time in SF and this property was perfect for what we had planned for the weekend - a family baby shower in the city. Good location - close to Golden Gate Park and zoon. The owner had all the necessary baby items - crib, high chair - so that we didn't have to haul them with us, plus they were setup and ready for us when we arrived. The amble parking with garage was perfect for our two family car situation. The neighborhood was beautiful, perfect!!! The owner was so patient with us and was so caring towards us, very accomodating. Thank you!! When we are traveling in the area again, we will look you up. xoxoRecommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Dear Lisa: It was my pleasure to offer my home to your family for your stay in San Francisco. I am delighted that everything worked well for you. I particularly enjoy setting up my home for families. We travel often, and always have a collection of age groups, from infants to adults, who join us. Having accommodations for families with young children is a treat. Sincerely, Madalienne

The house was great. It was clean and had more household items than most houses I stay in. I do have 1 item that I would like to point out. I loved the secure and private driveway, BUT it's very hard to find in the dark. We arrived very late in the evening and had a hard time with the alley. Our car scraped bottom because of the pot holes. After the first time we knew what to expect and it was fine. I would stay in the house again.Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Dear Mary: Thank you for your response. Following your experience I plan to recommend that people enter the home from the front steps when they arrive late at night. I have a series of sensor lights in the driveway and do maintain them so that as people enter the driveway the spotlights turn on. This is in an effort to provide light at the entrance to the garage. I will look into making sure that the sensor lights are working and that people receive proper notification of the low light, late at night, as they enter the driveway. The entrance to the garage, on the West side of the house, towards the Pacific Ocean, is via a private road that is not maintained by the City and County of San Francisco. I will inform my guests that the easement is an unpaved road. Again, thank you. Sincerely, Madalienne

About the owner: I lived in the house in SF for 11 years, with my 2 young sons. Now I live approximately 20 miles north of San Francisco in Novato, CA. I am a professor at Dominican University of CA in San Rafael. I love living in the San Francisco Bay area where there is always something fun and exciting going on from museums to theater, art, restaurants and nightclubs. The Sunset District provides easy access to major attractions and a quiet retreat at the end of the day.
Why the Owner Chose Sunset:
This was our family home while my children were young. I hope you enjoy our home for your vacation or visit to San Francisco. We have renovated and furnished the house to be very comfortable with private off-street parking in garage and in gated driveway, and easy access to the many sites and attractions of San Francisco in a quiet, safe neighborhood.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Comfortable neighborhood with private, gated parking, walk to Golden Gate Park, near metro transit, Ocean Beach, Highway 1 Scenic Drive, quiet area, close to airport, downtown shopping, short drive to Fisherman's Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin County with access to Muir Woods, Mount Tamalpais, Sausalito, and the Napa and Sonoma wine country.
