The Bear House at Wintergreen is a beautiful mountain retreat nestled on top of Wintergreen Resort Mountain. Ideally suited for your family, or share it with a second family or friends. The regions' best Skiing, World Class Golf and Tennis, are just some of the amenities of Wintergreen.
The house features four fully furnished bedrooms, a master suite on both floors with king/queen beds and private baths. Another bedroom on both floors with twin beds, for a total of one king, one queen, and four twin beds. Each floor has its' own living room with TV. Each Bedroom has a TV and all bathrooms include a built in hairdryer. The kitchen offers soapstone counters, a stainless steel refrigerator, and a gas cooktop stove. Washer and Dryer located on second floor. The main living room features a Gas fireplace for those cozy nights, and there are two inviting porches to relax in the mountain air!
The Bear House at Wintergreen is ideal for family reunions, golf foursome outings, or for a very special ski vacation in the winter. Wintergreen is a Four Season Resort with much to offer in any season. Come on up for some fresh air! You will love The Bear House at Wintergreen!

Our group of three families, 10 people in all, loved the Bear House. It was clean, well appointed, close to the slopes, the linens and towels were nice and the beds were very comfortable. Jim, the owner, was a pleasure to deal with and he promptly responded to my emails whenever I had a question or needed some assistance. The gate access codes to the parking lots closer to the slopes made our stay much better. The slopes were busy for President's Day weekend and people were parking all over the mountain and riding shuttle buses to the slopes. With the gate code provided by the Bear House owners, we parked within walking distance to the lodge, restaurants, shops and ski rental area. We have used VRBO before and had bad experiences with dirty homes and I must say we have been duped by unscrupulous owners in the past. This was not the case with the Bear House! The place was even nicer than the pictures made it seem and made our short ski vacation perfect! I would recommend this home to any family or group of families who want to stay in a clean home that is close to all of the action at Wintergreen!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children.

Had a wonderful stay at Bear House this past weekend with our family and our neighbors. House is very spacious and well designed. Kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed Beds and sheets were also super comfortable. Kids loved having their own large screen TV/play area upstairs. Lots to do around resort. We went to the pool, lake, as well as Discovery Ridge (summer tubing, zip line, bungee trampoline). Look forward to coming back to Bear House again soonRecommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

The place was clean as could be, stocked with every little thing we might need and close enough to all the mountain action while still getting some great privacy. The decor is lovely - just rugged enough to feel like you're on the mountain, yet soft and modern enough to feel like you're being pampered. We will make the Bear House a regular destination!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway, families with young children.

Our late summer stay at the Bear House was fantastic! The owners promised a very clean house and that is just what we got. The house is extremely well appointed and we wanted for nothing. The location of the house for us was perfect as we didn't have to drive all the way up the mountain since we frequently drove into town (Nellysford). The photos in the listing are accurate yet didn't do the home justice. My kids (15, 13,10) and my wife loved the place. The owner is extremely helpful and professional and all my dealings were great. Broadband wi-fi worked well.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children.

About the owner: The Bear House is owned by Jim and Barbara Hurt from Moneta, Va. We chose Wintergreen for the beauty and recreational activities it offers, and we chose the Bear House because of it's comfort, and proximity to the resort. We have furnished the house very comfortably with new bedding, leather couches and chairs, and new sheets and towels. The house has a very nice kitchen, and we are proud to be able to offer it for rent to our customers
Why the Owner Chose Wintergreen:
Our whole family skiis and loves to golf. The Bear House used to be a model home for a local Realty company, and as we met our realtor there for appointments, we just decided that this house was the one for us! The house has ample flat parking, a great deck, and many amenities not normally found in rental homes. We liked the two seperate living rooms, and we set the house up for two families with a master suite and seoerate twin BR's on each floor.

The Bear House is very unique! The bathroom floors, the fireplace hearth, and the kitchen counters are all made of soapstone! We have fully furnsihed the kitchen with everything you will need to make great meals on your vacation. You will want to take advantage of the many recreational opportunities at Wintergreen.
