Review Title: Fun, Beautiful cabin Date of arrival: 23Mar2012 My Review: --------------- I can categorically state that we enjoyed every aspect of our stay at the cabin! The cabin is beautiful, has great amenities (including a small waterfall about 50 feet from the cabin), and my family and I throughly enjoyed ourselves. One of the things that most impressed me though was the attention to detail with our reservation right up to the packet of information we received just prior to our stay.

The 8 of us wanted a place to get away for the weekend to relax and have a good time. Redbird could not have been more perfect. The pictures do not do justice for how beautiful and scenic the place actually was. The owners made the process easy and were very responsive. We will definitley be back. What a great find!

We just completed our stay at Redbird Retreat - three families with children ranging from 3-16 and EVERYBODY had a great time! The cabin is MUCH better than advertised - it is clean, well appointed and comfortable. The bedrooms are very spacious and separated one on each floor. The play areas, loft and (large) dining table provide adequate space for larger families, playing board games and lots of pleasant space to just "hang out". The wrap around porches, hot tub and play room were favorites for the kids AND adults....we've been coming to this area for 7+ years renting cabins and Redbird, by far and away, is THE best we've visitied. The (flat screen) TVs are nice and new, the (old school) board games and puzzles provided were a welcomed respite from all of the new electronic gadgets. It is secluded, peaceful and tranquil - not another cabin in sight!

Our visit to Lake Lure and our stay at Redbird Retreat exceeded our expectations of what it would be like to rent a cabin in the woods of North Carolina. The cabin was spacious, but yet had a cozy warm atmosphere. It was even more georgeous than the online pictures reflected. We started our day with coffee, sitting in a rocking chair on the deck in the peaceful surroundings of the woods and nature. The hot tub was the perfect end after our daily adventures, We spent one day at Chimney Rock which was breath taking with the fall foliage during peak season. Another highlight on our trip was a boat tour around Lake Lure at sunset. If you visit, the food at the Point of View restaraunt was great. Todd and Karen are great hosts and we never had an issue with getting in touch with them to answer any questions that we had. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who is looking for a great vacation place. We will be returning some time in the future to have a small family reunion and take advantage of a summer fun filled adventure. There is so much to do in the summer that there is something for everyone.

Just returned back from RedBird and had a great time. We enjoyed the hot tub, the fire pit, and the nice charcoal grill that was located right off the kitchen. The porch was awesome and it was very nice that part of it was gated so we could let our dogs sit outside with us. The bed upstairs was so comfortable and the fireplace in the den was really nice and heated up the space quickly. There were nice touches throughout the property including the boots outside in case we wanted to explore, books throughout the house for reading, and DVDs for movie watching. We stayed pretty busy this time because we were married at Lake Lure and had alot of planning and family things to take care of. Next time, we are coming to lay around, read, and sit in front of the fireplace. Hope to come back. We loved it! The only recommendation I would make is to try to arrive during day light hours. It is easy to get turned around once in Riverbend. But keep your eyes open once your in there, my husband saw multiple deer and wild turkeys!

I have rented many places for my family in my lifetime. I have to say that the Redbird Retreat is our favorite! Everything that a family could possibly need or want was at our fingertips. No detail was left out. The kitchen was furnished far better than any rental I've ever been in. I took some pans and pot just in case, but was pleasantly surprised to find I didn't need them. The wonderful wrap-around porch is great. You can sit there and listen to the birds, crickets and other nature sounds and it is so peaceful. I had just been through a difficult time with my elderly Mother having a heart attack. This was my place of comfort. We also hiked and toured the local apple orchards. The last thing my grandson said before we left was, "Nana we ARE coming back here again, aren't we?" I assured him it was definitely a "keeper" and that we would come again. The owners kept us very informed and made everything so easy. We loved it! The Hunts (Winston-Salem & Wilmington, NC)

This was a great place for a family vacation. The area offers something for everyone. Our group of adventure seekers enjoyed the hot tub after days of whitewater kayaking, zip lining, hiking, rock climbing and swimming in waterfalls. Though our group was small, this would be a great place for a family reunion as the multileveled house afforded privacy as well as places to gather together. In attention to all the area had to offer, we enjoyed time rocking on the porch watching the humminbirds, cardinals, indigo buntings and chickadees.

My family and I had a wonderful time at Rebird Retreat. The house was beautiful and spacious, everyone had their own space, but still could come together to spend time. It was peaceful and relaxing, no hustle and bustle, just nature around you (course the hot tub didn't hurt either). It did rain for a good bit of the 1st half of the week, but it didn't much matter, there was plenty to do there. An absolute must see is Chimney Rock and Chimney Rock Village for shopping, they have great antique stores. If my family and I return to the area, I will definitely be looking to stay here again.

This was our second stay at Redbird Retreat and once again we had a fabulous time. The cabin is in a great location and you can do as little or as much as you want to. This trip we spent the afternoon playing bocce ball down by the lake, built a fire to enjoy smores each night, and even put on the boots to venture through the stream. Careful though, it can be slippery on the way down right after it rains! The best part about Redbird Retreat are the owners. It is obvious that they care about your stay while in their home. I am positive this will not be our last stay at Redbird Retreat!

The location and privacy of this property makes it a wonderful place to escape to. 3 levels of floorspace give each family a great deal of privacy and the wrap around porch gives you plenty of outdoor living space to enjoy! Chimney Rock and Lake Lure were minutes away and make a great day trip.

Our party of two couples meet every year to vaction together and we found your property online. Your photos matched perfectly what we found, but actually what we found exceeded our expecations in terms of details! It was just like being in our own homes! The beds were very comfy, we had everything we needed to cook in the kitchen. Everything was clean and in excellent order. We enjoyed satellite TV, the DVD player, the CD boombox, and the Wifi. We got immediate response to our emails and phone calls in answer to questions. Your recommendations were A#1 for restaurants: Point of View was great fine dining!!! And ice cream at the Hershey's place. Highly recommend Rumbling Bald for a massage (what gals had when guys golfed). Don't miss Chimney Rock and a pontoon boat ride on Lake Lure. The rockers were the best and so many of them! Enjoyed revisiting the Biltmore and lunch next the their winery. GREAT grocery at Ingles; they have Everything. . use the loyalty card on the fridge! Very quiet and serene and we would HIGHLY recommend this cabin, which is SO roomy! Don't forget the camera!!

We were looking for a cabin at Lake Lure for My Birthday this year and we found this one and just loved it. My friends and I use my Birthday ever year as a girls getaway trip and this cabin was perfect. Not to mention that Todd and Karen were amazing. They answered every question we had no matter how small or crazy it was(like how to work the TV.lol) We went down on Friday night and just stayed the weekend, It rained all day on Sat. and we didnt get to do as much as we were hoping to but really we had enough to do right there at the cabin. We spent alot of the time in the hot tub and cooking on the grill:)The best part of the hot tub was listening to the rain in the woods, it was so calming. Sunday it turned out to be a Beautiful day so we went to Chimney Rock to the shops and ate lunch at La Strada at Lake Lure. It was right across the road from the beach and it had a beautiful view of the lake and Chimney Rock from the outside dining area. We had a wonderful time and everybody in the area was super friendly. We will be back again!!! Thank you so much for a great Birthday and Girls Getaway!!!

My fiancee and I chose Redbird Retreat for a much needed respite from the daily grind. The cabin is everything the listing promises and more. We've been staying in cabin rentals for years, and we have never stayed in one better outfitted for guests than this place! The peace and natural beauty of the location led to many hours being spent on the deck watching the hummingbirds, and just listening to the sounds of wildlife. This cabin is wonderfully secluded, yet just minutes from a ton of activities, and about 15 minutes from Chimney Rock, our main reason for visiting the area. We adored the hot tub, the kitchen had everything we needed for eating in (there were spices galore), and our yellow lab had a great time romping around the deck and the grounds. The main floor master bedroom was fabulous and the king sized bed afforded us the best sleep we've had in months. If you are looking for seclusion, serenity, and peace, you won't find a better place than this. Todd and Karen, Thank you so much for allowing us to enjoy your "Redbird Retreat". We would love to return sometime!

We have rented several vacation properties in various locations over the years and Redbird Retreat is by far the best. Everything was exactly as described in the listing. The house was immaculate and had everything we could possibly need. Karen was always very prompt and helpful in answering our questions. We had 6 adults, 2 small children (ages 4 & 1 1/2) and our dog. There was plenty of room and fun things for everyone to do. If you are looking for a place to unwind, relax, have peace and quiet this is it. Thanks to the Lindleys for a great vacation!

Redbird Retreat was everything the listing described and more ! The accomodations were great for our family of 7 Adults , 5 children (ages 16-7) and 2 dogs ! Throughout the entire process beginning with our initial inquiries, the owners were always helpful and quick to respond to any questions. The feel of the cabin was like staying at friends home. There were plenty of books and magazines to read, games to play, movies to watch and lots of information on area attractions. We had great weather and our kids enjoyed the backyard stream as much as the lake ! The fire pit was perfect for S'mores and the porch rockers were my favorite ! The birds (red and other) were plentiful and it was truly a retreat ! I would highly recommend it to any of my friends or family.

Redbird is without a doubt a great house; it has everything you could possibility want for a great vacation mountain home. It was very clean, has beautiful views, and conformable beds. But what you do not see is the support system that comes with renting from the Lindley’s. Our mountain trip was cut short, on our third night a very rare micro burst occurred. The winds were so strong a very large red oak tree and several other trees were up rooted and fell on my 2008 SUV. Needless to say my car was totaled. We were without power the driveway and mountain roads were closed due to the fallen trees and the entire neighborhood lost power. When we contacted Todd he left within an hour from Atlanta and drove nonstop to Redbird to help us out. Between Karen and Todd they were in constant contact with us while Duke cut the power on the downed power lines and Todd (while drive from Atlanta) contacted a tree removal service to cut my car out and reopen the driveway. (That took three hours to do) Todd was going to get a generator and Karen was searching area hotels to get us a place to stay that had AC. Todd arrived about the same time the driveway was opened and power restored. The next day Todd drove me over 30 miles to get a rental car. The support and caring that the Lindley’s showed us sure help take the sting out of a bad situation. We really appreciated their support during and after our trip. So if you can’t decide between two places to rent go with Redbird and the support system you get, the Lindley’s go above and beyond. We may have lost a car but we gained a friend. We will return to Redbird. Thank you Todd and Karen Terry & Jane Matlosz

Our family had a wonderful time at Redbird Retreat. The accommodations and the layout of the house were perfect for our family weekend. The loft area was perfect for the grandchildren. The baby could nap and not be disturbed and our 3 year old granddaughter loved watching children's movies (all provided by the Lindley's) in the loft area when she woke up before the rest of us. The lower level was a perfect place for peace and quiet and sleeping in. Sitting on the porch having coffee in the morning was a great way to start the day. The website was very informative and the links provided by the Lindleys gave us useful information to plan our activities. We would highly recommend this home as a great get away.

The Redbird Retreat was the perfect home for a group of friends to get away for the weekend. The layout of the house is very accommodating for a large group to sleep comfortable and have their own space. We enjoyed the high-end kitchen and all being able to dine together at the large table. The gameroom and firepit were really enjoyed by our group and created a lot of great memories. The hottub was the pefect place for an early morning mimosa/cup of coffee and the gas fireplaces kept us all cozy. We enjoyed the home so much that we never made it to Chimney Rock or the surrounding sites. The Redbird Retreat is the perfect place to relax on the porch, sip a glass of wine, and listen to the waterfall and creek just feet away!

Our family really loved our snowy December stay at the Redbird Retreat. The owners provided Christmas trees and lights throughout! The place is both gorgeous and functional. We made several trips down to the waterfalls below, the hot tub was wonderful and the kids spent many hours in the game room. I would strongly suggest taking a walk further up the mountain, the views are great. We will certainly be back when it's warmer so we can spend some time outside on the deck.

What a marvelous retreat! Redbird Retreat provided everything our family needed to relax and enjoy our time as we celebrated God's grace and played in His wonderful creation of the beautiful mountains! Karen and Todd, thank you for providing all the necessary essentials that made our trip so wonderful. The three levels definitely provide the privacy needed for multi-families and the game room "rocks," in the words of all of our children. They would go down and play for hours until we made them emerge - it was great to have them entertained while we played games and had adult time on the beautiful porch. The hot tub and swinging bed were the icing on it all! My husband said this is like staying in a fancy "tree house" since it is nestled in the beautiful trees with the sound of the creek below. We stayed at the Redbird Retreat last week (6/29 - 7/4/09). It was an awesome place to stay. The home was supplied with absolutely everything including satellite TV and the Internet. There was an information book that gave us a breakdown of the great things that we could do each day. It was our guide. The cabin was clean and located in such a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. The front porch was awesome (rocking chairs and humming birds). We were able to do summer reading with our twins with little to no resistance. The beds were super comfortable and the hot tub at the end of the evening was a nice bonus. Our kids loved the games, books, videos and hockey table. The absolute best thing about our stay was the community beach where we used the homes floaters for the lake. It was not crowded and very clean. We hiked Chimney Rock which was only about a 10 minute car ride away. This place is located in the perfect place where we did not have far to travel for food or fun. The home is really big enough for a 3 generation family because of the space. We experienced all the animals that nature had to offer. We would definitely return and highly recommend this place to any family. Book this place immediately if you are looking for a vacation that you will never forget. Thank you owners for making our stay one that we are still talking about.

Our family really enjoyed our time at Redbird Retreat. The deep woods setting made us feel as if we were staying in a tree house. The kitchen was extremely well appointed with everything we needed to help prepare our many family meals. The three bedrooms with adjoining baths made the stay more comfortable for us all. There were plenty of nice towels and linens. Our little poodle loved running on the balconies and playing. The area of Lake Lure is beautiful and peaceful.

What a wonderful time we had! I'm a passionate scrapbooker and decided that some friends and I should escape to do a scrapbooking retreat. I found this wonderful home and fell in love with it! It had plenty of space for us to have our own rooms. A huge table for us to scrap and additional table top for all our supplies... When I saw the great game room below I thought my teen girls would probably love their own mini vacation with some of their friends. There was a total of 4 ladies and 4 teens. We hardly heard a peep from the kids! They were too busy hanging out below, in the hot tub and exploring the grounds with it's winding creek and mini waterfall... The community also has a lake and private rapids which made for some fabulous pictures that I can't wait to scrapbook! The wrap around porch with it's many rocking chairs was a peaceful outing to watch all the hummingbirds fly around it. The kids also enjoyed the fire pit that allowed us to build a pretty nice size fire.... the smores were yummy!! They even provide boots in different sizes to go and explore the creek so you would not get dirty or wet! On our way home we decided to visit Chimney Rock which was only 15min away... it was a sight to see. I can't wait to come back! The next time, it will be for more then 3nights!! :) Thanks for everything! Marcy, Andrea, Leila, Susan, Victoria, Travis, Tiffany and Keili from Orange Park Florida.

This was a wonderful cabin! The owners were super helpful and included everything that you would need for the home away from home. We were rained out for the week that we stayed in the cabin but that was absolutely ok. We took advantage of the time to enjoy this lovely home, hanging out on the porch, swinging on the floating bed, grilling on the porch and sipping tea on the rocking chairs. My favorite part was exploring the waterfall and creek on the property. I would highly recommend this cabin for anyone who is looking to get away, relax and enjoy beautiful NC! This was very close to a charming little town called Chimney Rock nice cute little shops but they close way too early. That was a lot of fun too! We too our dog up the rock, wow what an adventure!

We had a fantastic stay at Redbird Retreat. The house was very, very nice. The beds were super comfortable, the linens and towels clean and fresh, and everything was very clean and well-maintained. We made dinner and breakfast while we were there, and the kitchen was well-stocked with spices and cookware. The owners were very kind and helpful through the entire process. Thank you, Todd and Karen! You have a lovely place, and we would love to return. It was very relaxing being there. We were sad to leave and wished we we could have stayed longer.

Staying at Redbird Retreat was absolutely fabulous! The home is well kept, comfortably furnished, modern appliances and entertainment systems. Our family of 12 truly enjoyed the space and relaxation provided. The two wrap around decks gave us privacy and the hot tub heated up quickly and maintained tempatures so everyone could enjoy it. The Lindleys were fantastic in their communications and got back to us promptly on any questions we had. And the Lake -- Wow! It's quiet, clear and has a wonderful beach and picnic area. Also there's a path across from the lake with picnic areas along the river. We can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was. Karen & Todd, thanks so much for sharing your beautiful log home with us!
