We had a great time and everything was as described on the website. The cabin was clean and spacious and close to a beautiful private lake and nature trails. The only issue we ran into was with the television in the lower level was not hooked up properly with the DVD and satellite cables and I could not get the loft TV to function right either. The volume on the TV in the upper bedroom didn't appear to work either (it was an order set). I know the purpose of the cabin is to get away from all of the electronics, but try to tell that to my kids. Otherwise we had a great time and couldn't recommend it more.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for the feedback, we have replaced the TV in the upper bedroom and fixed all the wiring for the other TVs.

WOW!! The pictures do not do the cabin justice. The house is perfect for a family vacation. The cabin was very clean & all of the beds where very comfortable. The owners supplied almost everything we needed for our stay. I think the only thing missing was food. LOL Both of our kids loved playing in the stream & making s'mores. My mother in law had a wonderful time and can't wait to come back. We will be staying at this cabin again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What a great house!! We had 2 family (total of 10 people) and the configuration was excellent. 3 master bedrooms was perfect for the parents and a couple of teens. The yonger kids loved all the beds in the the loft and thought it was a treat to have a big sleep over. House was in a gret location, close to everything, and some nice hiking right out the back door. Lots to do for everyone....the house provided everything from spices, to rainboots, to cards and games (in addtion to the foosball and air hockey). We have stayed at many VBRO properties and this was very homey and welcoming. We were sad to leave and as we left, all agreed we would stay here again on our next trip to Lake Lure!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, sightseeing.

Delightful from the moment we glimpsed the festive Christmas lights from the road! Truly felt like home from the moment we walked in the door, and our yellow lab/shepherd mix felt exactly the same. Enjoyed staying in as much as (if not more than!) exploring nearby Chimney Rock and Asheville (wonderful sites, friendly folks all around!). The owners have thought of everything to keep on hand - pyrex, snowflake dinnerware for the season, and (most importantly) wine glasses! Thank you, Redbird! We hope to see you again someday! -The FarleysDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We arrived on 12/23 and had a wonderful holiday stay through the 26th. The home is very clean and well maintained. It is a well stocked home with all your needs to ensure a great family experience (games, boots for wading in the creek, all kitchen essentials, etc). Todd and Karen also decorated the home for Christmas and we were thrilled to see lights outside, two Christmas trees and a quaint village setup in the kitchen. It instantly brought out the Christmas spirit! The home is located in a great spot with a creek in the backyard. We walked along the creek with our dog and saw a beautiful waterfall. The hot tub was immaculate and we really enjoyed it in the evening after a long walk. We look forward to visiting in the summer months as the property is in short distance to the lake and includes tubes for lake fun! Thanks to Todd and Karen for making their home a warm, welcoming place to stay over the holidays!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

This is my 2nd time staying at the Red Bird Retreat and It was just like I remembered. The owners have gone to great lengths to make sure you and your family have everything you need. When I went to book this trip I was disappointed to find out that the owners had blocked off time to do maintenance on this property. The owner actually agreed to rent to us eventhough he had already made plans to be there the weekend we wanted to go. I would recommend you buy some fire wood so you can spend a afternoon by the fire pit roasting some smores and marshmellows. You will also need to have a camera with you at all times because you will see deer and turkey late in the afternoon and early in the morning. One of the couples we went with is already planning on coming back in December with her family to stay again. I would recommend this house to anyoneRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The home was very nice and large enough for a growing family. The front porch and the rockers provided was very pleasant to sit outside, relax and enjoy the quiet, and the jacuzzi felt really good after a long day site seeing. I would have liked a yard that is suitable to small children and senior citizens. Overall, I would recommend the home to anyone interested in a nice quiet retreat.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

The cabin was everything as advertised. Our family had a great time both at the cabin and at Lake Mirror and the adjoining rivers. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was well equiped, and the wrap-around decks were most enjoyable especially in the early morning; we felt like we were sitting in a tree house looking out over the forest. Hot tub was fun as were the games in the lower level. The kids really enjoyed sleeping in the loft! The only down sides: no yard to let the kids play in, and the wooden floors could have been cleaned better before our arrival. We would go back to Red Bird.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We spent a wonderful week at Redbird Retreat; we found the description of the home very accurate to what was described in the listing. The house was very clean and welcoming and we had a very comfortable stay. We had 10 of us staying here ranging in ages from 4 up to 77 and even had our fur kids too. Every single person enjoyed themselves; there was so much to do and we all loved sitting on the porch in the rocking chairs watching the hummingbirds......so relaxing. We had plenty of space for 10 people as well. The Lake Lure area also offers so much to do; everyday we had something new to do. Our group went horseback riding, climbed Chimney Rock, shopped Chimney Rock Village, went on a pontoon boat ride, paddle boating, swimming, hiking, gem mining, tubing and even lots of relaxing too. I would definitely recommend staying here and we have already discussed going back in the future. Working with the owner Todd was extremely easy and his communication was excellent. Thank you for such a wonderful week!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had never rented a vacation home before, but this one was everything we could have wanted. The property was well maintained, the house clean and ready for us to move in. The owner sent us various activity information that was very helpful for us to plan our days. It was great to have access to the private beach and swimming hole. Our granddaughter just loved the sand on the beach! Ingles is a very nice grocery store, and it was close and convenient. We loved going to Chimney Rock, where we shopped and had lunch and the guys went up to the top of Chimney Rock and loved the view. The scenery is so beautiful in all of Lake Lure and the surrounding area, there wasn't a bad view anywhere. The last night there - a storm had blown through and we unfortunately lost power - but that gave us the chance to eat at LaStrada Italian Restaurant, which didn't disappoint us. We had a marvelous time and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. We would go back in a heartbeat! Thanks for a superb vacation!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had the best time at this beautiful house, the pictures do not depict how awesome it really is. I will definitely be staying here again. Took a trip to Brevard to see Looking Glass Falls and Sliding Rock, a bit far but very much worth it. The game room was a blast, made smores in the fire pit, relaxed in the hot tub and chilled on the floating bed. We went to Larkins a little pricey, but the pecan crusted trout was AMAZING!! The owners make it so simple and were very helpful. The only bad part of this whole stay was that it ended. I would highly recommend this house to anyone staying at Lake Lure.Recommended for: Sightseeing

Review Title: Fun, Beautiful cabin Date of arrival: 23Mar2012 My Review: --------------- I can categorically state that we enjoyed every aspect of our stay at the cabin! The cabin is beautiful, has great amenities (including a small waterfall about 50 feet from the cabin), and my family and I throughly enjoyed ourselves. One of the things that most impressed me though was the attention to detail with our reservation right up to the packet of information we received just prior to our stay.Did you find this review helpful? We just completed our stay at Redbird Retreat - three families with children ranging from 3-16 and EVERYBODY had a great time! The cabin is MUCH better than advertised - it is clean, well appointed and comfortable. The bedrooms are very spacious and separated one on each floor. The play areas, loft and (large) dining table provide adequate space for larger families, playing board games and lots of pleasant space to just "hang out". The wrap around porches, hot tub and play room were favorites for the kids AND adults....we've been coming to this area for 7+ years renting cabins and Redbird, by far and away, is THE best we've visitied. The (flat screen) TVs are nice and new, the (old school) board games and puzzles provided were a welcomed respite from all of the new electronic gadgets. It is secluded, peaceful and tranquil - not another cabin in sight!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our visit to Lake Lure and our stay at Redbird Retreat exceeded our expectations of what it would be like to rent a cabin in the woods of North Carolina. The cabin was spacious, but yet had a cozy warm atmosphere. It was even more georgeous than the online pictures reflected. We started our day with coffee, sitting in a rocking chair on the deck in the peaceful surroundings of the woods and nature. The hot tub was the perfect end after our daily adventures, We spent one day at Chimney Rock which was breath taking with the fall foliage during peak season. Another highlight on our trip was a boat tour around Lake Lure at sunset. If you visit, the food at the Point of View restaraunt was great. Todd and Karen are great hosts and we never had an issue with getting in touch with them to answer any questions that we had. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who is looking for a great vacation place. We will be returning some time in the future to have a small family reunion and take advantage of a summer fun filled adventure. There is so much to do in the summer that there is something for everyone.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Just returned back from RedBird and had a great time. We enjoyed the hot tub, the fire pit, and the nice charcoal grill that was located right off the kitchen. The porch was awesome and it was very nice that part of it was gated so we could let our dogs sit outside with us. The bed upstairs was so comfortable and the fireplace in the den was really nice and heated up the space quickly. There were nice touches throughout the property including the boots outside in case we wanted to explore, books throughout the house for reading, and DVDs for movie watching. We stayed pretty busy this time because we were married at Lake Lure and had alot of planning and family things to take care of. Next time, we are coming to lay around, read, and sit in front of the fireplace. Hope to come back. We loved it! The only recommendation I would make is to try to arrive during day light hours. It is easy to get turned around once in Riverbend. But keep your eyes open once your in there, my husband saw multiple deer and wild turkeys!Did you find this review helpful? I have rented many places for my family in my lifetime. I have to say that the Redbird Retreat is our favorite! Everything that a family could possibly need or want was at our fingertips. No detail was left out. The kitchen was furnished far better than any rental I've ever been in. I took some pans and pot just in case, but was pleasantly surprised to find I didn't need them. The wonderful wrap-around porch is great. You can sit there and listen to the birds, crickets and other nature sounds and it is so peaceful. I had just been through a difficult time with my elderly Mother having a heart attack. This was my place of comfort. We also hiked and toured the local apple orchards. The last thing my grandson said before we left was, "Nana we ARE coming back here again, aren't we?" I assured him it was definitely a "keeper" and that we would come again. The owners kept us very informed and made everything so easy. We loved it! The Hunts (Winston-Salem & Wilmington, NC)Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This was a great place for a family vacation. The area offers something for everyone. Our group of adventure seekers enjoyed the hot tub after days of whitewater kayaking, zip lining, hiking, rock climbing and swimming in waterfalls. Though our group was small, this would be a great place for a family reunion as the multileveled house afforded privacy as well as places to gather together. In attention to all the area had to offer, we enjoyed time rocking on the porch watching the humminbirds, cardinals, indigo buntings and chickadees.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family and I had a wonderful time at Rebird Retreat. The house was beautiful and spacious, everyone had their own space, but still could come together to spend time. It was peaceful and relaxing, no hustle and bustle, just nature around you (course the hot tub didn't hurt either). It did rain for a good bit of the 1st half of the week, but it didn't much matter, there was plenty to do there. An absolute must see is Chimney Rock and Chimney Rock Village for shopping, they have great antique stores. If my family and I return to the area, I will definitely be looking to stay here again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, sightseeing.

This was our second stay at Redbird Retreat and once again we had a fabulous time. The cabin is in a great location and you can do as little or as much as you want to. This trip we spent the afternoon playing bocce ball down by the lake, built a fire to enjoy smores each night, and even put on the boots to venture through the stream. Careful though, it can be slippery on the way down right after it rains! The best part about Redbird Retreat are the owners. It is obvious that they care about your stay while in their home. Our party of two couples meet every year to vaction together and we found your property online. Your photos matched perfectly what we found, but actually what we found exceeded our expecations in terms of details! It was just like being in our own homes! The beds were very comfy, we had everything we needed to cook in the kitchen. Everything was clean and in excellent order. We enjoyed satellite TV, the DVD player, the CD boombox, and the Wifi. We got immediate response to our emails and phone calls in answer to questions. Your recommendations were A#1 for restaurants: Point of View was great fine dining!!! And ice cream at the Hershey's place. Highly recommend Rumbling Bald for a massage (what gals had when guys golfed). Don't miss Chimney Rock and a pontoon boat ride on Lake Lure. The rockers were the best and so many of them! Enjoyed revisiting the Biltmore and lunch next the their winery. GREAT grocery at Ingles; they have Everything. . use the loyalty card on the fridge! Very quiet and serene and we would HIGHLY recommend this cabin, which is SO roomy! Don't forget the camera!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We were looking for a cabin at Lake Lure for My Birthday this year and we found this one and just loved it. My friends and I use my Birthday ever year as a girls getaway trip and this cabin was perfect. Not to mention that Todd and Karen were amazing. They answered every question we had no matter how small or crazy it was(like how to work the TV.lol) We went down on Friday night and just stayed the weekend, It rained all day on Sat. and we didnt get to do as much as we were hoping to but really we had enough to do right there at the cabin. We spent alot of the time in the hot tub and cooking on the grill:)The best part of the hot tub was listening to the rain in the woods, it was so calming. Sunday it turned out to be a Beautiful day so we went to Chimney Rock to the shops and ate lunch at La Strada at Lake Lure. It was right across the road from the beach and it had a beautiful view of the lake and Chimney Rock from the outside dining area. We had a wonderful time and everybody in the area was super friendly. We will be back again!!! Thank you so much for a great Birthday and Girls Getaway!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

My fiancee and I chose Redbird Retreat for a much needed respite from the daily grind. The cabin is everything the listing promises and more. We've been staying in cabin rentals for years, and we have never stayed in one better outfitted for guests than this place! The peace and natural beauty of the location led to many hours being spent on the deck watching the hummingbirds, and just listening to the sounds of wildlife. This cabin is wonderfully secluded, yet just minutes from a ton of activities, and about 15 minutes from Chimney Rock, our main reason for visiting the area. We adored the hot tub, the kitchen had everything we needed for eating in (there were spices galore), and our yellow lab had a great time romping around the deck and the grounds. The main floor master bedroom was fabulous and the king sized bed afforded us the best sleep we've had in months. If you are looking for seclusion, serenity, and peace, you won't find a better place than this. Todd and Karen, Thank you so much for allowing us to enjoy your "Redbird Retreat". We would love to return sometime!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Redbird Retreat was everything the listing described and more ! The accomodations were great for our family of 7 Adults , 5 children (ages 16-7) and 2 dogs ! Throughout the entire process beginning with our initial inquiries, the owners were always helpful and quick to respond to any questions. The feel of the cabin was like staying at friends home. There were plenty of books and magazines to read, games to play, movies to watch and lots of information on area attractions. We had great weather and our kids enjoyed the backyard stream as much as the lake ! The fire pit was perfect for S'mores and the porch rockers were my favorite ! The birds (red and other) were plentiful and it was truly a retreat ! Redbird is without a doubt a great house; it has everything you could possibility want for a great vacation mountain home. It was very clean, has beautiful views, and conformable beds. But what you do not see is the support system that comes with renting from the Lindley’s. Our mountain trip was cut short, on our third night a very rare micro burst occurred. The winds were so strong a very large red oak tree and several other trees were up rooted and fell on my 2008 SUV. Needless to say my car was totaled. We were without power the driveway and mountain roads were closed due to the fallen trees and the entire neighborhood lost power. When we contacted Todd he left within an hour from Atlanta and drove nonstop to Redbird to help us out. Between Karen and Todd they were in constant contact with us while Duke cut the power on the downed power lines and Todd (while drive from Atlanta) contacted a tree removal service to cut my car out and reopen the driveway. (That took three hours to do) Todd was going to get a generator and Karen was searching area hotels to get us a place to stay that had AC. Todd arrived about the same time the driveway was opened and power restored. The next day Todd drove me over 30 miles to get a rental car. The support and caring that the Lindley’s showed us sure help take the sting out of a bad situation. We really appreciated their support during and after our trip. So if you can’t decide between two places to rent go with Redbird and the support system you get, the Lindley’s go above and beyond. We may have lost a car but we gained a friend. We will return to Redbird. Thank you Todd and Karen Terry & Jane MatloszRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our family had a wonderful time at Redbird Retreat. The accommodations and the layout of the house were perfect for our family weekend. The loft area was perfect for the grandchildren. The baby could nap and not be disturbed and our 3 year old granddaughter loved watching children's movies (all provided by the Lindley's) in the loft area when she woke up before the rest of us. The lower level was a perfect place for peace and quiet and sleeping in. Sitting on the porch having coffee in the morning was a great way to start the day. The website was very informative and the links provided by the Lindleys gave us useful information to plan our activities. We would highly recommend this home as a great get away.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Redbird Retreat is a true retreat. The wooded setting with 2 waterfalls was peaceful and relaxing. The kids and our dog enjoyed walking through the stream, as well as the firepit which we used several times for s'mores. The log cabin is light and bright and very well-appointed. A great getaway!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

This house is beautiful and very spacious. We loved that there was a master bedroom on each of the 3 floors--no fighting over who gets the "big room"! The rain on the tin roof made for great sleeping weather for 6 tired mommies. We had a great time....thanks!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

The Redbird Retreat was the perfect home for a group of friends to get away for the weekend. The layout of the house is very accommodating for a large group to sleep comfortable and have their own space. We enjoyed the high-end kitchen and all being able to dine together at the large table. The gameroom and firepit were really enjoyed by our group and created a lot of great memories. The hottub was the pefect place for an early morning mimosa/cup of coffee and the gas fireplaces kept us all cozy. We enjoyed the home so much that we never made it to Chimney Rock or the surrounding sites. The Redbird Retreat is the perfect place to relax on the porch, sip a glass of wine, and listen to the waterfall and creek just feet away!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Our family really loved our snowy December stay at the Redbird Retreat. The owners provided Christmas trees and lights throughout! The place is both gorgeous and functional. We made several trips down to the waterfalls below, the hot tub was wonderful and the kids spent many hours in the game room. I would strongly suggest taking a walk further up the mountain, the views are great. We will certainly be back when it's warmer so we can spend some time outside on the deck.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

What a wonderful time our family had. The cabin was so decorated for Christmas and it felt very much like home. We hope to come again next year and make it a family tradition. Owners were so kind to us.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We absolutely loved Redbird Retreat. Plenty of room for my 3 girls and they loved the basement with the games. My husband loved the hot tub. Very comfortable and nicely decorated. We had an amazing time at the Redbird Retreat! Such a fabulous house--there was plenty of room for all 9 of us, and yet it felt very cozy. We enjoyed a wonderful weekend of cooking, visiting by the fire, hiking, and hot tubbing. I could not have asked for more in a vacation home--we will definitely be back in the coming years! Many thanks for your hospitality. Rachel & Matt GarrisonDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a wonderful Autumn week staying in the Redbird Retreat! The house is terrific, especially the wrap-around porch, and offered beautiful views of the changing leaves down the valley. There is plenty to do, see, and shop within reasonable driving distance. I especially enjoyed not having to make my bed when I got there. The cleaning service does a great job.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I can not brag enough about our stay at Redbird Retreat! Even with pretty much an all weekend rain out, the property allowed 4 adults and 2 toddlers hours of fun and yes, relaxation. There is no doubt that we will return again but stay much longer than just a weekend. Thank you Lindley's for such a wonderful home equipped with everything we needed (cozy beds, stocked kitchenwares...even a crockpot that I forgot to pack!!) We will be back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a wonderful time at Redbird Retreat. There were four adults and four teenagers and there was plenty of room in the house for all of us. What a marvelous retreat! Redbird Retreat provided everything our family needed to relax and enjoy our time as we celebrated God's grace and played in His wonderful creation of the beautiful mountains! Karen and Todd, thank you for providing all the necessary essentials that made our trip so wonderful. The three levels definitely provide the privacy needed for multi-families and the game room "rocks," in the words of all of our children. They would go down and play for hours until we made them emerge - it was great to have them entertained while we played games and had adult time on the beautiful porch. The hot tub and swinging bed were the icing on it all! My husband said this is like staying in a fancy "tree house" since it is nestled in the beautiful trees with the sound of the creek below. Thank you for providing such a wonderful "retreat."Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
