Excellent Madrid apartment close to shops, cafes, Metro, Atocha station and airport bus.

Guest: Rob63 (Cotswolds, UK)

The apartment is exactly as described - practical and comfortable with free wi-fi a real bonus. Close to shops, cafes & restaurants. Metro 5 mins walk and Atocha station 10 mins walk. Owners (Suzanne & Santiago) very helpful - picked us up from the airport bus stop, explained everything in the apartment, and gave us a bottle of wine to help us settle in :) 11 out of 10!

Owner response:Rob et al! Thanks for your kind words. We enjoyed meeting you all very much. We'll be waiting to hear from you when David returns! All the best, Suzanne and Santiago

Lovely stay!

We were fortunate to be able to stay for 3+ weeks and had a wonderful time! The apartment is well equipped and in a quiet residential neighborhood, but is close to the metro which is safe, easy to use, and offers quick and easy access to the entire city. The proximity to Atocha Station was handy, and just a short walk when we took trains to Barcelona and Grenada. The fruit store and bakery on Calle Ancora were convenient (nice morning coffee, pastries and bread!) and Bodegas Rossel, which Suzanne recommended, became our neighborhood hang out. Suzanne, Santi and Sylvia were all lovely to deal with and I would certainly stay there again when in Madrid.

Wonderful stay in Madrid. We felt like we were locals!

We had an amazing stay at the apartment and felt like we were true Madrileños. The apartment was comfortable and had everything we needed. Having a kitchen is fantastic to prepare some quick meals once and a while. The location was ideal for us. We were withing minutes of some great cafes, markets and wonderful tapas places. After a week staying in the apartment we got to know some of the really nice people who worked in the cafe next door and to the people in the local bakery and the market. We enjoyed meeting the owners of the apartment and had a nice cafe con leche with them. Very nice people. I cannot wait to go back again.

Owner response:And WE loved meeting you both! Looking forward to a meal on your next visit - we will have to take you to our favorite spot. Happy Easter!

The apartment was convenient to the train station as soon as we figured out the front from hte back. Location was a neighborhood without all the traffic but a very easy walk to Prado & other sights. Really perfect location. Suzanne was great help pointing out neighborhood restraunts & bars, and was very helpful. I would do this again. Very clean 2 bedrooms with nice sitting area. Would like to stay longer but wouldrecommend to anyone looking for stay in Madrid.

Owner response:Thanks so much for your kind words. We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We hope to see you on your next visit!

Caring owners, Convenient location!

My husband and I came to Spain for the first time this December and had a great experience with this rental. Suzanne and Santi were very responsive over email and they answered all of our questions thoroughly. Upon arrival, Silvia showed us how everything works and gave us tips about shops and tapas bars in the neighborhood (We really liked Bodega Rosell) as well as the major attractions in the rest of Madrid. The apartment was very clean and well-maintained, and it had everything we needed. We liked the location especially - It is SO CLOSE to Atocha train station and to the museums, yet it's nestled in a quieter neighborhood, away from heavy traffic and crowds. We didn't have a car and were happy walking throughout Madrid from this location.

Suzanne and Santi were extremely helpful and answered my many emails promptly. I appreciated that a lot. We were in the 1st floor apartment and it was a great landing spot for our family of 3. Close to the subway, train and bus station. We liked that it was off the main street...it was quiet and peaceful. The apartment was a nice size and had a good kitchen set up for Europe. If you're looking for a centrally located place to stay in Madrid, this works.

November Girls trip to Spain

Guest: Cathy (Denver)

Thank you Suzanne and Santi! We loved staying in your wonderful apartment. It was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The little kitchen was perfect for breakfast and snacks--I'm sure we could have cooked a full meal had I been so inclined. There was plenty of room for all of our stuff as well as room for us to relax after a long day of sightseeing. Great bathroom with plenty of hot water for showers. The location is great. 2 blocks from the subway and 3 stops to Puerta del Sol. The neighborhood had so many wonderful little restaurants and bars. Bar Soria was great for morning coffee and a memorable, reasonably priced lunch. Bodegas Rosell was picturesque. We enjoed tapas and wine there--our only regret was that we didn't go there more than once! I would highly recommend your aparatment to anyone traveling to Madrid. I can't wait to come back again myself!

Good Location, Great Owners

Extremely nice owners. Try their best to accommodate your requesst. Check in process was painless. Location of the apartment is good. You feel like you are in a local part of the city versus a touristy part. Located 2 blocks from the Atocha train station. Lots of restaurants close by. We really liked Bodegas Rosell it was our favorite . We also ate at Bar Soria, it was right on the corner, nice service and inexpensive. Supermarkets are less than a block away. Good bakery as well on the corner about a block away. PROS - Good Location - Local area of town - Great Owners - Perfect for larger families - Safe part of town CONS - None that I can think of Pictures accurately depict this apartment. We took three day trips out of Madrid. Close proximity to Atocha made them easy. Toledo, Segovia, Avila and El Escorial.

Great Location

We stayed in the second floor apartment on two separate occasions for a total of seven days during our month-long stay in Spain. We are a family of five (kids aged 22, 21 and 20), and we were all comfortable there. Not only was the apartment spotless, but the kitchen was well-stocked with cookware. We were pleased with the large selection of restaurants in the area (we liked Soria right up the street). A bakery on the corner supplied us with fresh bread, and a supermarket just a few blocks down was perfect for the balance of our grocery needs. Another big plus was the proximity to the museums and to Retiro Park. We also walked to Sol on many occasions, however, the metro is conveniently located just two blocks away and is easily accessed for those of you who choose not to go on foot. Suzanne and Santiago were conscientious and helpful, returning emails promptly and answering all of our concerns. The only negative is that we are not accustomed to city noise, and on occasion the street was noisy. However, this could be easily overlooked since all of the other positive features make this a wonderful choice. It is always preferable to stay in a less touristy part of town, and this location fit the bill. By the end of our seven days here, we were sad to leave! We will definitely stay again if we ever return to Madrid!

April 2011

This apartment was clean and well furnished. It is in a residential area, not a tourist area, but is within easy walking distance of most tourist sites, particularly the big museums and Retiro park. There are small markets, a merkado, bakeries, and local restaurants in the immediate area. We ended up not using our full complement of metro/bus tickets, as we most often just walked. It is in a complex where families live, and while it was not noisy, there was the bustle and activity of young children. There was no traffic noise.

Great Weekend in Madrid

The apartment worked out great. Location fantastic. Close to Atocha, Metro and Museum mile. Suzanne and Santi could not have been more accommodating. When my daughter's bag was lost by the airline, Suzanne spoke to them on our behalf and had the bag delivered to them and brought it to us. Thank you! If you don't mind walking with your luggage, like us, you can take the Express bus from the Airport to Atocha for $2 Eur and walk to the apartment.

The apartment is in a great location, a 5 minute walk to the metro and easy to get to from the airport using the metro. We appreciated that the kitchen was well stocked and the heat worked, since the weather was cold and rainy! Nice neighboored, we enjoyed walking and found some good supermarkets. Would love to come back in the spring!

Enjoyed It!

Thanks so much - we had a really great time during our visit to Madrid. The location is ideal - close to the metro and walking distance to the train station, which came in handy when we left after 5 days on our way to Cordoba. Santi's suggestion for Roselle's - just up the street was an absolute delight...we frequented it a couple of times. The neighborhood really is nice. We did have an issue with the washing machine - it ran the first time for 5 hours and although we read the instructions on the door, they are not too clear for the "Americans"...sorry.

Excellent accomodations

Guest: Tom (Seattle, WA)
Date of Stay: 08/09/10 Review Submitted: 08/16/10

This accommodation was exactly what we had expected, very near to a main train station and other Metro connections. One thing we liked is that we felt like we were in a real neighborhood of Madrid, not just on the tourist circuit. And yet the "sights" were near enough. Compared to staying at the big expensive hotels, we enjoyed the amenities of a modest home for less $$ and a more complete taste of life in Madrid. Very clean, quiet at night, and the owners were easy to work with.

A great apartment!

My husband, friend, and I loved this apartment. The location was excellent, the price very reasonable, and the apartment exceptionally clean and well-maintained. It had absolutely everything we could have needed, including hair dryer, ironing board and iron, etc. Although there was no clothes dryer, there was a large indoor drying rack and several pulley clothes lines just out the window (clothes pins provided). We had no problem washing and drying clothes. WiFi was available for our laptop and with a Cyber Cafe just around the corner, we could easily save anything we needed to print on our USB, and just go there to print things out. The neighborhood was very nice...lots of friendly people and very safe. (However, it does help if you speak a little Spanish). We walked everywhere and were frequently out late at night. There was so much within walking distance...the museums, stores, restaurants and bars, metro station, and one of the main train stations. All our questions were answered promptly and there were no surprises when we arrived. We never actually met the owners, but we e-mailed back and forth and felt that we knew them. Also, we did meet their lovely agent, who was so patient with us (we were a bit jet-lagged when we arrived!) I am very pleased to give this apartment my highest recommendation. I only wish we could have stayed longer!!!! Many thanks to Suzanne, Santi, and Silvia.

Our trip to Madrid was just great. Suzanne and Santiago were extremelly helpful getting us connected with Soccer tickets which absolutely made the trip for our son. The apartment was in a great location - walking distance to Prado, near a subway station, the train station and several great tappas bars and resturaunts. It was great having a grocery store near by and a coffee shop/bakery just down the street. I would recommend Madrid - and staying at at this location to anyone, with or without kids.

Our family of six recently enjoyed one week in Madrid. The apartment is centrally located on a quiet street near shopping, banks, restaurants, parks, museums, and public transportation. The unit has an updated bathroom and fully equiped kitchen. We felt very comfortable and safe in the neighborhood. Suzanne and Santiago, thanks for helping us enjoy a wonderful stay in Madrid!
