We stayed here with our girls ( ages 10,13) in November of 2010. It was clean and close to markets. We had a great (unique) meal at a south African restaurant on DeKalb ave (Madiba I think). The kitchen is updated and had all the amenities we needed. The owner was very kind and took time to give us pointers. It was so close to the G subway. We explored the whole city easily from this apartment.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car.

We stayed here for 4 nights recently and loved the location and the apt. The important bits were clean - kitchen & bathroom, but the apt was really dusty - the sofa hadn't been cleaned under for a long time - candy from someone else was there! The biggest issue was that we were woken every night by the pipes creaking under the floor. Being that we were jetlagged travellers with young children, even less sleep was really hard to deal with. Please have the plumbing fixed. Ps there is a back door that leads on to a neglected outdoor area. Surely this could be cleaned up and become a feature of the apt?
Owner response:Thank you for your review and I am glad you stayed with us. Since you stayed we have removed the couch and replace it with two double sleeper futons in the living room. The creaking pipes was the steam heat from the radiator that needed air to be released. We frequently perform the air release to reduce any inconvenient noise.
