Very spacious and comfortable apartment with excellent distribution of bedrooms with the living area. So comfortable, you will feel like it is your home away from home. As our former residence, we can say that it is set up to be family friendly, from small children to older adults. Bedrooms are tucked down the hall so those that want to sleep or have quiet can and those who want to cook or watch television don´t disturb the others.
The location can’t be more central. Within walking distance of all the major sites like Paseo del Prado, Reina Sofia, Retiro Park, Huertas trendy all pedestrian street, Plaza Santa Ana and Sol, you hardly need to use the metro that is located just a 5 minute walk away. Our flat is conveniently situated on a very short and quiet street in the historic Barrio de las Letras, a lively neighborhood with plenty of cafes, bars, restaurants and boutique markets that are just at your doorstep. All of your neighbors are Spanish.
Despite its very central location, our clients love the fact that it is so quiet that you would never know you were in the centre of Madrid. The entire apartment was renovated in the last year and offers a very cosy living space, including TV and DVD player and high-speed WiFi internet access.
Surface Area: 110 Square Meters (1150 sq feet); first floor. The apartment has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a sofa bed, accommodating up to 7 people. Two bedrooms have a double bed and one bedroom has two singles. The kitchen design is an open plan joining up with the dining room and a sitting area maximizing space for families to spread out. This is in addition to the bright and comfortable living room. Hardwood floors in the living space and tiled bathroom floors. The numerous double pane windows, two balconies and high ceilings let in lots of natural light and make the apartment feel welcoming. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to make your stay enjoyable—from a coffee pot, hot water heater, toaster and microwave to an oven, dishwasher and washing machine.
Upon check in, the person welcoming you will make you feel at ease providing you with all of the essential information and an orientation around the flat so you know how everything operates and you can ask questions. In addition, we also have some unique services that we can offer to our guests that will really immerse you in the culture. Please inquire when you send us an email. As we also have a tour company, we have a special 40% discount for guests for our private tours of the city. Please let us know if you are interested in any of those.

Why the Owner Chose Madrid
We chose this place for its space, charm and how perfectly located it is, near the Retiro park, Prado museum, Reina Sofia Museum and Plaza de Sta Ana and Puerta del Sol. Also beacause it is a living area with a real local life and a great food traditional market called Anton Martin.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment
We loved that everything is within 5-10 minute walk. There are great restaurants just outside the place as well. Besides it si very quiet and spacious inside. It is a little oasis in the center of town.
Just a 5 minute walk from the apartment, this gallery is number one attraction in Madrid for most people.
Enjoy Picasso's Guernika famous masterpiece here among other Dalis, Miro, Picassos, etc.
A great typical market with butchers, fish stalls, produce and more..Locals love to shop here.
A classic for tapas and high quality fish preserves: mussels, razor clambs, etc.. great beer too.
Another great and ell established tapas bar. They have great seafood, octopuss, iberico ham, etc
One of the most famous squares in Madrid to go eat tapas. Lots of great places in this square: 5 jotas is good for hams, Lateral has great tapas, Cerveceria Alemana used to be a Hemingways hung out..
The most beautiful park in Madrid, used to be the Royal park, open to the public at the end of the 19th cent.
No place catches the athmosphere of Madrid better than the Rastro on Sundays. Go late and find the tapas places for Aperitivo (Aperitive) there.

Jen and I bought this place in 2002 when we came back from the States. Jen is from Seattle and I am from Madrid. We lived in this great apartment for 3 years with our children and enjoyed it tremendously. We loved the proximity to all sights, museums, local markets, etc. We decorated and put a lot of ourselves in this place in order to make it warm. We left some of our books and guides to make your stay better. Jen and I also run a travel business and we are also guides and friends of Rick Steve's. We still maintain a great relationship with neighbors that can be of assistance and help in case of need.

Our family of 5, including 3 teens, stayed 5 days at the Gobernador Apartment. It is centrally located a very short walk to the Prado, the Atocha train station and the Anton Martin Metro station. Within 1 block there are several small grocery stores, fruit stands and pharmacies. The Plaza Mayor and Plaza Puerta del Sol are a short 10 minute walk. The apartment was well furnished and thankfully had AC in good working order. The only hassle was emptying the AC condensate bottles every morning since it was very hot and humid the week we stayed. Sra. Aurita was very helpful and gave us a very thorough description of how to work everything and where to go for essentials. The wi-fi was welcome after spending a week in Italy without it. The washer worked great. No dryer but there is plenty of clothes lines. We had an excellent time at Gobernador and would recommend it to anyone.

This is a fabulous property. The location is outstanding, very close to some of the best museums in the world. Central Madrid is a short walk. Very close to the metro and Atocha train station. Only draw back was a noisy neighbor that was always yelling at her son. Hot water was limited also. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this apartment.

My family (husband, 2 boys ages 6 and 7) rented this apartment for 10 days. The apartment was clean and spacious. It was the perfect location. The apartment is in walking distance to the museums and Retiro park and other sites. It's also within a short walk to the metro and train station. The owners were very nice and helpful and fluent in English. I recommend this apartment without hesitation to anyone, especially those with a family.

We just returned from Spain and had a great trip. Our 3 nights in Madrid were fantastic. You can walk within 5-10 minutes to the Prado, Renfe Train Station, Reina Sofia. Shopping and Restaraurants were even closer. Only a few minutes from the Metro as well. The place was well appointed and very clean. We felt right at home. It was very quiet at night and in a very safe neighborhood. I highly recommend this apartment. We have 2 teenage boys and there was room to spare.

That's largely what makes this apartment excellent. Carlos and Jen are most accommodating and responsive to questions/concerns no matter how small. Overall a great experience. The description was accurate with regard to the amenities and description of the property. The area is quiet at night. The Metro and Atocha Renfe station are withing easy walking distance. There are plenty of shops and markets nearby. The Prado, Reina Sofia and Retiro are very close. Great location to "stage" from for trips out of the city as well. Highly recommended.

The Gobernador apartment was an excellent decision for our family. As advertised, it was spacious, comforatble, clean and in a great location. We had a wonderful time in Madrid and I would highly recommend staying here. It's an excellent value.
