We've been traveling for business to SF for years. Too many hotel rooms to count, from the most wonderful to the more mundane. This was the first VRBO and I have to say, it won't be the last. It totally took the sting out of the trip. How great was it to return to our flat at the end of every day with no lobby to walk through, to a great kitchen, a wonderful dining and relaxing area, wine glasses, a coffeemaker (no more coffee making in the bathroom, yay!) No doors slamming in the middle of the night. No awkward elevator moments...it was great. The flat itself is really charming, more so than the pictures represent. I think the owner is French, and the furniishings are kinda French flea market chic. The kitchen is loaded with everything you need, including lots of French utensils. Everything is really nice and clean and tidy. It was like coming to your best friend's flat that they let your borrow for the weekend! They didn't require a deposit, the cleaning fee was reasonable, and the nightly rate was totally acceptable for what you get. We are really grateful to the owners of this flat, for being willing to share it with outsiders. We highly recommend it and will definitely return in the future!
Owner response:Hi, thank you very much for taking the time to write. We are glad you enjoyed your trip!

2 couples from Sydney had a wonderful 4 nights in this property. Absolutely ideal place for getting around San Francisco. The beds ( including the pull-out sofa ) were very comfortable .The only minor inconvenience was having to go through the bedroom to use the bathroom , but no big deal . We suggest using the California cable car from Embarcadero rather than the Powell St. cars as it is much less crowded. Many restaurants within a short walk , plus grocery & laundromat ( never could work out where the washer was ! ). This has to be the best value tourist apartment in S.F.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this apartment. It is super centrally located, 3 blocks from Chinatown, 1 block from the posh hotels and cable cars. The iron gate on the street provides a great sense of security. The master bedroom is also super quiet at night. Outstanding kitchen with all the amenities. Tastefully decorated with comfortable antiques, high ceilings, and crown mouldings throughout, along with cherry wood floors and a bath shower with rain shower head and hand held massage shower head as well for tall people like me. Our 18 year old daughter was perfectly at home in the separate living room on the pullout sofabed with her own TV. If you have a rental car, you can park at the Masonic garage on California for $30 per night, a very reasonable price for Nob Hill. The garage also has an walkout exit on Pine Street, one block from the apartment. We bought our food at Whole Foods (organic grocery store) on California, a short cable car ride away. Just an outstanding experience. Highly recommend.

We were so happy to find the apartment was just as the photos show. Well equiped and cosy, we had arrived from a hot summer and found the heating wonderful as we were feeling the cold. Cable car one block and a handy grocery shop a block the other way. We heard no noise as Vine is a cul de sac off Pine.

A super little appartment, wonderfully equipped with any thing you could possibly need. The location is excellent for both self guided tours of the city and for pick up by tour companies - we were picked up just a block up the hill from outside of one of the smart hotels. There is a small friendly grocery store just moments along the street for supplies. I was visiting with my parents (late 60s) and we all agree that we would certainly recommend this property.

We stayed at the Vine Terrace apartment for a week in July and were very pleased with our experience. I agree with all of the other positive comments former guests have made, but one additional thing I would add is from a family perspective. We have two boys, aged 5 and 7, and our family of four was very comfortable and happy staying in the apartment. It was a treat to stay in an heritage building and see how many San Franciscans live in similar buildings. We had plenty of room and the kids were happy with their pull-out bed in the living room and their own TV. The location was wonderful and we got great exercise climbing all of those hills! I would definitely recommend this apartment for a family holiday to San Francisco.

This accommodation is in a great location - close to the cable car line, not far from a couple of grocery shops and a short distance (walk if you like to burn the calories or cable car) to Union Square. The apartment has a great fully stocked kitchen and washing machine just outside and a very comfortable bed. The place is nicely decorated but no so much that you need to worry about breaking things and therefore we could relax with a small child (we were travelling with a 3 year old). The apartment is great value for money and we really loved our time at this spot in San Francisco as it was a very quiet and comfortable place to rest after pounding the San Francisco streets. We would definitely recommend it. If you plan to go to Alcatraz make sure you book in advance. Sears has fantastic waffles and the Cheesecake shop in Union square makes an excellent cheesecake.

My husband and I stayed here in May 2010. Having never visited San Fran before we really didn't know where to stay. What luck we had! The apartment was lovely. It is ground floor (easy to carry bags to) and secured, in a quiet street. The location is particularly good - an easy walk to Union Square for great restaurants and shopping, and the cable car stops about a block away. The apartment is well equipped with all the kitchen items necessary for a short stay. The only drawback would be that if you have a car, there is no parking on site. This wasn't an issue for us as we did not drive in San Francisco - everything was in reasonable walking distance or easily accessible by public transport. I highly recommend this as a place to stay in San Fran.

We stayed here for a week surrounding Thanksgiving and it was just what we needed to be able to give our daughter and son-in-law a slap-up Thanksgiving dinner. The location was quiet, the rooms attractive and clean, and the kitchen was outstandingly well-equipped with first-rate pots and pans, knives, and appliances. For those who love to cook, this place is a dream. One small complaint, which I'm sure will be remedied--there didn't seem to be any big serving spoons or ladles.

We found this apartment just perfect for our stay in San Francisco. It is very spacious and beautifully decorated. The bed is comfortable and there is plenty of closet space to unpack your suitcases. Bathroom and living room are excellent. The kitchen is fully equipped if you feel like cooking and there is a grocery store just 1 block away. It is an easy walk (downhill) to many restaurants and you can catch the cable car back up the hill from Uinion Square as the stop is just a block and a half from the apartment. It is also very quiet even though close to everything you could want. We recommend this apartment for your stay in San Francisco.

We have been back in Canada for a week now, and wanted you to know how much we enjoyed our stay in the flat on Vine Terrace. What a lovely place it is, as I mentioned to you on the phone. It had everything we could ever have needed, and was very clean. And it was such fun to live there - we walked everywhere, loved climbing the hills, and found the entire experience delightful. Thank you so much, Sandra. And please pass our thanks and appreciation on to the owner. He/she has a little gem there, and we will definitely inquire whether it is available next time we come your way.

We got home from our loop through the West last weekend and had a great time. I want to thank you very much for making the apartment available to us during our stay and allowing us to temporarily store our luggage in the closet until the train left on Friday. Our stay in San Francisco was the highlight of our vacation and that was largely due to the cleanliness and comfort of the apartment and your hospitality. I will highly recommend your company and the unit to anyone I know heading that way, and hope to visit again some day myself. Sincerely,

this apartment is truly the finest we have ever experienced on homeaway. truly lovely, large, so very well equipped with everything. the kitchen and amenities in it are superior, one could cook a gourmet meal for 20 with all the various cooking appliances and pots and pans etc. truly nothing was not there that one could need or want. the bathroom is large, and beautifully appointed, the living room is cozy and very comfortable, the bed was wonderful, and the storage and closet space leaves one desiring nothing more. 2 flat screen tvs each with dvd, very clean and oh so comfortable. location to everything is perfect.. we will always use this one apartment, and will try to plan all our trips there according to availability. we have already referred some friends to it. the apartment is so large and spacious. it was a super fantastic week for us.

We just stayed here and it was clean, bright, and beautiful. Love the tile work in the bathroom and kitchen, and even the hide-a-bed was comfortable! My only complaints are tiny: we couldn't find an iron, and the corkscrew had been broken by a previous occupant. But otherwise perfect!
Owner response:We have since added an iron and a new corkscrew. We also have added a hair dryer as the result of a guest request.
