My husband and I were lucky enough to stay at the Casa de Suenos for four weeks during January and February of this year. We were SO pleased with everything about the home: the seclusion, the cleanliness, the staff, and the fantastic pool! We enjoyed every minute of our time spent in the home and would definitely come back here again if we ever come back to Ambergris Caye. This is a five star property!

My husband and I enjoyed the house for one week before our friends (a couple) joined us for the second week. The two parts of the house were excellent for our purposes. We found everything we needed for cooking, watching TV, and relaxing. The pool is perfect. The house is remote enough for quiet and privacy. However we walked almost everywhere we went: Palapa Bar and Grill, grocery stores in town and restaurants. We found a grocery store in San Pedro that delivered us and the groceries back to the house! Thanks for a great vacation.

We enjoyed our stay. The house was perfect for our party of four. Caye Management was always available if something was needed. They were helpful with setting up renting the golf cart. We would highly Casa De Suenos to all.

My husband and I and our son and his wife totally enjoyed our stay in this home. The amenities of the house are just as stated and the house is kept very nice. We did alot of cooking in the kitchen and on the grill. We were lucky enough to catch some nice snapper, tuna and baracuda on our fishing excursions. Lupe, the housekeeper, does a great job in taking care of the home's interior and Aaron does an outstanding job with the landscaping and pool. Both are really nice people too. We had a rented golf cart and are glad we did. With the house being about a mile past the bridge, going into town would have been a chore any other way. The pool was the crowning feature of this home. We spent alot of time here during the hottest part of the day and in the evening after we finished running around. The pool is surrounded by amazing plants, and trees. There are even a couple of banana trees on the property. There are pool floats provided. (We left a couple of new ones in the packages as I didn't want to pack them to bring home.) The home is in a very nice area of the island, with many nice homes around. We felt totally safe. We enjoyed the proximity of the house to the Palapa bar as that is where our fishing guides pick us up. Plus it's a great place to hang out and eat. We plan on returning next year (during lobster season) and really hope we are able to stay at Casa de Suenos again.

My wife and I stayed at Casa de Suenos for 8 nights and enjoyed our visit. It did meet the description and was very clean and well maintained. Aaron, who cleans the grounds and pool, and Guadalope, who cleans the house, were very nice and effiecent. The issues we had were that there were little things that we thought should have been there, i.e. charcol for the BBG (its a pain to have to haul charcoal from the store), BBQ tools (not just kitchen utenciles), A flashlight (it gets dark early and walking along the road is tough), a kayak (instead of having torent one (which is expensive and a hassle to get to the house), and a couple of bikes (I know they are subject to wear and tear, but it is a hassle to have to go to town to rent them and then return them). We would have been willing to pay a little more to have accessto these items, just to avoid the hassle factor. Be prepared to spent a significant sum of taxi's or a golf cart rental to get around. And the land taxis are not as reliable as you might want. The water taxis were fine. We were not impressed with the food available in the restaurants and were less impressed with what was available to cook at home. Forget getting a nice steak to BBQ, or even hamburger that would form patties. Of course we in the USA are spoiled with the fresh fruit and vegetables we have available, so don't expect those to be up to our standards for your cooking either. It seems that all US products are about double US prices, so look for local products, some of which were very good. The weather was great for us and our only issue was the mosquitoes after the rain. That is another thing that the owners could bhave done better - provide citronella candles or put some bug spray out for use, at least until you get to town to get your own. But, all that said, we had a very relaxing vacation and the snorkling was great. And we really enjoyed the pool. That was the best feature for us and we used it every day for several hours.

Owner response: Upon confirming a reservation all guests are encouraged to contact our property manager regarding other needs, including transfers, Tropic Air flights, golf cart and bicycle rentals, cooking, provisioning, excursions to the mainland, fishing, diving, etc. Phone numbers are readily available to reach the management company during the stay, and we have had many positive comments affirming their helpfulness. We also invite guests to express concerns directly to us by e-mail; we do respond. This particular guest contacted us with several questions prior to booking, including the availability of kayaks and bicycles, and we are very sorry he did not reach out to us while there, as some of the other difficulties he encountered may have been alleviated. To address a few of the specific complaints: There is a battery-operated lantern in the master bedroom closet and a flashlight in the kitchen. BBQ tools are in a kitchen drawer. As guests come and go, we find that they leave items such as books, sunscreen, bug spray, coffee, condiments, spices, charcoal, and even open liquor bottles for the next guests to enjoy. It’s unfortunate that this particular guest did not find charcoal or bug spray among the extras. There are provisioning businesses on the island that could have saved the guest a lot of time and effort fetching the desired items, had he been inclined to use them. We have tried, but not been able to find citronella candles that are effective. During the rainy season our gardener uses a fog sprayer to help keep the number of mosquitoes under control. We encourage anyone planning a visit to Ambergris Caye to inform themselves as much as possible about the island and its culture prior to arrival. This property is located in Central America, not the USA, and that means expectations for the environment, food, and amenities should be adjusted to fit the location. This property is a 2 BR, adults only rental, and does not seek to be all things to all people. As much as we would love to have kayaks, bicycles, and even a golf cart available for our guests, it simply is not practical without secure storage facilities and a 24-hr caretaker on the property; that would not only significantly increase the rental rates, but also take away from the unique privacy our guests currently enjoy. If having the type of amenities suggested by the reviewer is a priority to you, we would suggest you look toward a more upscale rental or larger resort for your accommodations.

My partner and I have traveled extensively over the last 34 years renting condos and houses throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, Central and South America... this house was definitely one of the best. The house is private, the pool is a hidden gem, it has everything anyone would need and it's very well maintained. Everyone we dealt with from emails to the owner, the management company and dealing with on-site pool person and housekeeper were outstanding. We spent two wonderful weeks here, as we invited my brother and his wife to join for a week so her could finally to scuba dive in Belize we all had out own space! If your travels take you to San Pedro, Ambercrise Caye, Belize this is the only the house to rent!!!!

We were concerned that this house was not on the beach but all concerns disappeared upon arrival. What a wonderful place! The beach is across the street and easily accessible. We also found fishing in the backyard lagoon a real treat. Even though everyone said use sardines I found ham to be what caught a small barricuda. The pool is excellent and the house is very clean and well equipped. I highly recommend Casa de Suenos. Thanks for sharing your little slice of paradise.

A friend and I rented this house for two weeks and I must say the experience was absolutely perfect. The pictures don't do the house justice. And the grounds are kept in lovely condition by friendly staff. I would return to this house again and again, if I could!

Owner response: We, the owners, cannot say how much we appreciate this unsolicited review. We have always felt that with proper maintenance the property would speak for itself. Clearly these guests understand how much we wish we would be there full time if we could! Thank you!

I would give it six stars if I could...........the house is so beautiful and comfortable - truly a home in paradise. It is such a wonderful place, I can certainly understand how the owners fell in love with it when they saw it. The separate, spacious downstairs suite was perfect for our dear friend Karen, it was her first trip to Belize and Ambergris Caye and she is hooked! Having two private living areas is perfect for two couples who want to go on vacation together, but yet have their separate space. The pool was incredible - we were in it at least twice a day - I miss it now that I am home! The landscaping was beautiful - all the gorgeous tropical plants and birds were so relaxing and enjoyable. the house truly has all the conveniences of home from the kitchen to the beautiful tiled bathroom and shower. The Palapa Bar and Grill - within walking distance was so much fun and cooked Doug's catch of the day for us - what great people! The owners were so great and their recommendations for grocery, fishing and snorkeling, and restaurants were absolutely great! Doug caught barracuda, snapper, tuna, grouper, and Karen and I had an incredible morning of snorkeling - I even saw a midnight blue parrot fish which is very rare! We have been to Belize several times in the past, but have never enjoyed our trip as much as we did this time thanks to Casa De Suenos. If you want a wonderful, tropical vacation that will truly be memorable for years to come I highly recommend that you consider staying here - it is truly paradise. We can't wait to go back! We stayed at Casa de Suenos for a week's vacation in May. What a beautiful place to go if you want to relax in the sun! The pool, where we spent most of our time, is pristine and very private- no screaming children or fighting for chairs like you find if you go to a pool at a resort, and when you are in the pool you have sunny skies and gorgeous tropical plants surrounding you. To get to and from town is a very easy golf cart ride as the house is not too far from the toll bridge - the "road" gets worse and worse the farther you get from town. The neighborhood was very quiet and there were other nice homes around. The house itself was great for having two couples. It has two separate units- a studio apartment downstairs with queen size bed, large tv (with good channels), bathroom, and kitchenette; and a larger apartment upstairs with a spacious living room, full kitchen (with newer appliances than what we have at home) bedroom, bathroom, den, breakfast nook and deck overlooking the pool. There were no problems with water (we found it to be good enough to drink out of the tap, and the water pressure was good), AC, electricity, smells or bugs like you sometimes find in the tropics- the house is obviously well taken care of, and it has some character. It was nice having the separate units as well because although we were 2 couples there together, we didn't get in each other's way and had our own spaces but still got to enjoy being there together. Near the house there are a few bars and restaurants in easy walking distance if you don't feel like going into town but want to get out for a little while, or just don't feel like cooking. And if you want to go out scuba diving you can ask to have the dive boat pick you up at the dock at the palapa bar which is very close. We were a little nervous before we went about not being on the beach but it turns out the beaches are not that great for swimming anyway, there is quite a bit of seaweed. I highly recommend this house!

We stayed at Casa De Suenos May 12th-22nd. It is an absolutely beautiful home and we quickly realized we made a good choice for our stay in Ambergris. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The upstairs where the main living space is located is decorated beautifully and provides every comfort needed. Spotlessly clean with top of the line appliances. It was a plus to have use of the internet. It is close to several great eating spots. Beach n Kitchen is a close walk on the main road north for breakfast and dinner. Sweet Basils to the south for a great dinner and sunsets. The well kept pool was very much appreciated after a long day in the humid heat. The owners are quick to respond to questions about Ambergris and also phone calls. Very nice people. We had some issues with the downstairs unit because of air conditioning, (workers in the unit several days trying to fix air conditioner) and after dealing with the management company for several days and not getting acceptable results, we emailed Jeanne from the house (who quickly responded) it was fixed the next day with no further issues. We greatly appreciated her actions and wish we would have contacted her sooner. We would highly recommend to anyone coming to Ambergris this lovely property for their stay. Cannot wait to come back.

We stayed at Casa Sueno in March 2009 for 10 days. This place is fantastic! Having a private pool is a real treat, particularly in Belize where beach swimming is not ideal. We had two couples staying here, and the seperate living spaces were ideal for privacy. This is very close to town, but on the north side of the island so it is quiet (and no cars!). A long walk to town, but a very short golf cart ride. We cooked several meals on the grill and in the kitchen and enjoyed eating on the balcony. The internet worked well and there are plenty of TV stations. Maid cleaned the house top-to-bottom every other day and the pool/yard keeper came daily. House is very well maintained. We have no complaints and will certainly stay here again.
