Why the Owner Chose Cavaillon
The climate, food and scenery is wonderful in the south of France. Our city, Cavaillon, is close to the perched villages of the Luberon (like Menerbes and Gordes) as well as cities like Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, St Remy de Provence, Arles, and only 2.5 hrs away from Cannes and Nice. We're also very close to Barcelona (4 hr drive) and the Marseille International Airport which means we have easy access to European and African countries. And Paris is only 2.5 hrs away by TGV. The city is small (23,000) and not 'touristy' at all which is nice since you get a feel for living in a real Provence city. We find the people of Cavaillon extremely gracious and very kind: I speak very basic French yet I have always felt welcomed by the residents of Cavaillon and the neighbouring towns of Menerbes, St Remy and Avignon.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment
We are able to walk across the street each morning to buy a baguette at the Patisserie and we are within a 5-10 minute walk of many gourmet restaurants. We're just a 10-minute walk to the train station (where there is a great pizza place) and the 2 cinemas in town (the movies are all recent; sometimes they are in English with French subtitles.) We are about 50 feet away from one of the largest weekly markets in Provence: it's a great way to spend the morning. The market runs down both sides of our street from top to bottom and literally everything you can imagine is for sale - fruits, vegetables, housewares, clothes, soaps, sausages, spices...Even though our apartment is centrally located, we find it very quiet at night.
Owner's Map of Cavaillon
We are a Canadian couple, from the Ottawa area, who have fulfilled a dream of owning a place in the south of France. We have traveled extensively and love this part of the country. We are planning to spend 3 to 4 months a year in Cavaillon when we retire in a few years' time. In the meantime, we try to visit at least 2 times a year. We love the fact that we can decide on the spur of the moment to go have a coffee in Aix (for example) and be there in under 45 minutes. Or take a quick (20 minutes) trip to St Remy de Provence to visit the van Gogh museum.

We had a pleasant stay in this apartment in Provence! It is very clean and very well equipped, among other things, we enjoyed the cooler, beach chairs and umbrella. It is conveniently located near major roads and all we wanted to visit. With people in the rental service was impeccable. If we return to Provence, we would like to rent this apartment again.

Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teenage daughters) stayed at this wonderful apartment for 10 days. The apartment itself was spacious and comfortable. It looks exactly like the photos on the website. We enjoyed having breakfast on the terrace and the view of St. James Hill. We loved that it was centrally located and approximately 30 minutes or less to all of the places we wanted to visit in Provence -- Avignon, Pont du Gard, Isle Sur-la-Sorgue, Rousillion, St. Remy, Baux, etc. The town of Cavaillon itself had wonderful Patisseries, Charcuteries, cheese shops and fresh food markets which were all within a block of our front door. Our daughters were able to explore the town and go the market or patisserie for breakfast on their own. Cavaillon turns into a wonderful outdoor market on Monday -- there were flea market vendors, local goods and a farmer's market. We would highly recommend this apartment to anyone traveling in the area.

I can't say enough good things about staying here. First, the location in Cavaillon is excellent. Like the listing says, Cavaillon itself isn't very touristy (in other words, there isn't much to do in Cavaillon itself) but everything is only a hop, skip, and a jump away. It is central to the Luberon Valley, a short drive to Avignon (and the highly desirable visit for us to Chateauneuf-du-Pape), only an hour to the Pont du Gard, under 45 minutes to Aix-en-Provence, just over an hour to the beautiful beaches on the coast like in Cassis, and so on. Cavaillon has everything a local would want and then makes it easy to see everything a tourist would want to see. The apartment itself is fantastic! After a very hot and uncomfortable week in Paris, the air conditioned (and large) stay in Cavaillon was truly welcomed. We greatly enjoyed the spaciousness (even though it was much larger than only two people needed) and the facilities. Having a parking spot was also greatly welcomed. Steps to a couple of small markets and a gourmet food/wine/cheese store, great bakeries, a butcher, etc. A nice, comfortable bed, a functioning elevator...overall, great. Also, the local property manager, Carine, was a real pleasure to deal with and very helpful with our specific needs. Overall, a truly wonderful experience and I would go back there again - the only thing missing was a pool!
Owner response:Hi Mike - Really glad you enjoyed your stay in the apartment. It sounds as if you had a great time visiting so many of the nearby attractions like Avignon, Aix and the Pont du Gard. This is one of the reasons we enjoy the area so much as well - in addition to the wonderful food and wine. Hope you had a chance to experience market day in Cavaillon as well. We hope you will come back very soon. P.S. Wish we could provide a swimming pool but - for future reference - just to let you know that there is a large, outdoor public swimming pool about 3 kms away from the apartment!
