This three-year old ground-floor apartment (4 steps) is located in a quiet west-side family neighborhood nestled between the red-cliffs of the Hanapepe River Valley in an agricultural area of taro, corn, mango, banana, papaya, goats, cows, pigs, and horses.
It's 2 miles to Salt Pond Beach, a kid-friendly beach with lifeguards, showers, rest rooms, and picnic tables; 7 miles to Waimea Town, the gateway to Waimea Canyon and Koke'e State Park and the historic Waimea Theater; 10 miles from Kekaha with its 15-mile stretch of white sand beach; and 30 miles from Polihale Beach State Park with its long stretch of sparkling white sand. A local grocery store is 2 miles away.
This is the quiet and dry side of Kauai, with some interesting restaurants, local shops, and 2 great ice cream stores. With Old Hanapepe Town only 1.25 miles away, you won't want to miss Friday Art Night (every Friday 6:00-9:00 p.m.) where you can meet some of Kauai's local artists and hear local street musicians.

Year Purchased: 2006
Jim and Judy Page moved to Kaua’i five years ago when they became grandparents for the first time and wanted to be close to the kids and grand kids. While Judy’s originally from San Francisco and they moved here from Ventura County, Jim spent time in west Kaua’i right before his birth--his parents lived at Waimea Plantation Cottages while his father worked on the Barking Sands airfield. Jim was born in Oahu, raised in the US Army, and lived all over the country and the world, including Italy, Virginia, Texas, New Mexico, England, and California, before “retiring” here to open a small architectural firm and gallery in Hanapepe Town. Judy works at an Episcopal church in Lihue and both do regular babysitting duty for their granddaughter and grandson. Jim designed their home which was built in 2006; this apartment is on the ground floor of their home.
