Enjoy the sweet life from your elegant hillside hideaway overlooking Lake Como's dazzling scenery. Your modern 800-square-foot apartment is on the second floor of a two-story villa and is beautifully appointed with exposed-beam ceilings, high-end designer and custom-made furnishings, fine linens and essential modern amenities (including air conditioning and free WiFi Internet access). Consisting of 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with showers, a living room area with a compact full kitchen, and 2 balconies, the space is ideally suited to a maximum of 4 people, though groups of 5 will be considered if one or more of the guests is under 13.
Each of the 2 bedrooms boasts a comfortable designer queen bed and ample wardrobe, as well as a built-in handmade desk area of Italian walnut. The back bedroom has an adjacent en-suite bathroom with shower, and the second bath off the front hallway boasts an oversized shower, and a view of the lake. The living room offers both a balcony and a comfortable couch (with stowed trundle single bed) and armchair for watching movies or listening to music on your iPod-ready home theater system as you relax after a long day of sightseeing ... or food tasting and wine sipping!
In fact, you may choose from a variety of pursuits (active to ... less so) to suit your tastes and daily inclinations. Naturally, no trip is complete without some time spent on the water, but whether this comes on a private boat tour, a self-piloted rental craft or the local ferries is up to the you. Garden enthusiasts will be enchanted by the grounds of Villa Carlotta in Tremezzo and Villa Balbianello in Lenno, just across the lake. Villa Balbianello will also delight film buffs -- it served as a shooting location for A Month by the Lake, Star Wars Episode II, and Casino Royale.
If you're more athletically inclined, try one of the spectacular hiking or walking trails -- from the Strada Regia (the ancient Roman "Royal Road"), which passes just outside your door, stretching from the edges of Bellagio to Como to the Lake Como Greenway that runs between Colonno and Cadenabbia on the opposite shore. A 5-minute walk down to the water and you're ready to take advantage of water skiing or wakeboard lessons with world champions through the Hotel Aurora's Jolly Racing Club. Bike or kayak rentals are also available for those who prefer to adventure independently.
And, of course, there are dozens of small shops full of treasures in nearby Bellagio or Como for those looking to find the perfect souvenirs for themselves or special gift for friends and family.

Relax in Style & Elegance (Upstairs Unit) (Bellagio@10 Min.)
Year Purchased: 2006
Why the Owner Chose Lezzeno
I fell in love with Lake Como from the moment I first arrived in 2003.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment
A short walk downhill from the property lie two charming restaurants, as well as a dockside water-sports center that offers lessons, and the community beach. Because of its unique position up the hill and away from the main road, however, you can retire each evening to an oasis of tranquility and twinkling lights. You're also always just a short 10-minute drive to Bellagio for afternoon shopping, evening dining, and frequent ferry connections to the entire central lake area.
Lakeside terrace dining with lovely ambiance and terrific service
Charming new fisherman-run restaurant serving traditional lake dishes
Trail cuts through the upper neighborhoods of Lezzeno then across the hillsides to the edges of Bellagio, and comes out, handily, at a bus stop halfway between the two towns (about 1-1.5 hours).
Hiking trail that hugs the hillside above town and reaches all the way to Brunate (in the hills above Como) -- trek only as far as you wish!

What an absolutely fantastic time we had in Lezzeno on the shores of Lake Como. Kate was an exquisite hostess and thought of everything from prestocking the fridge to taking us down to a great little restaurant and then picking us up when we were ready to come back. Gated parking, lovely, modern amenities, super views, comfortable beds and quiet. Can't find fault with anything. Five stars, no six!

Waking up early the first morning before all the others, I stumbled out on to the deck facing west over our small village of Lezzeno to Lake Como. Just at that moment the utter silence was broken by the sounding of the 7am church bell down below and as if choreographed, a cocaphony of birds burst into the air and as if on cue the ferry from Mezzegra slowed to a crawl right in front of me and slid into the dock in the town below. The air was crystal clear and the lake narrow enough to see the Isola Comacina to the left and Villa Balbianello on the right jutting out photo perfect from a heavily wooded peninsula. We spent five glorious days at this precious villa, which far exceeded our expectations both in amenities and location. The photos on the VRBO website simply don't do it justice-and we were pleasantly surprised by the thoughtfully stocked refrigerator and the bottle of local wine that our landlords left for us, not to mention all the local information carefully laid out for anyone who is interested in exploration. We hiked the 'greenway' across the lake from Cadenabbia to Mezzegra, as well as several trails above our compound leading to the picturesque Madonna del Sasso church. We spent a day roaming Bellagio and then taking the ferries on a special pass to several locations on either side of the lake. From Bellagio on another day, we also drove the car onto a ferry which took us to Cadenabbia, Lake Como's gateway to Lake Lugano and Switzerland just up in the mountains above. You really need a car, but driving in this part of Italy is a particular challange as the roads are Lilliputian and not for the faint of heart. The local produce and lake fish are a delight if you are one that likes to prepare your own meals at home-this kitchen is very well equipt; we even asked for a blender and they dutifully supplied it the next day. Restaurants in the area are consistantly good and prices mid to high with the poor exchange rate of the dollar to the euro. This place is for the romantic, adventure seekers who are not afraid to explore this exceptional region by car.

We just recently returned from a weeks vacation and just loved the apartment. The views were amazing and the apartment was more than I expected. Beautiful bathrooms, very clean and comfortable. The views were incredible. It was in a great location and close to Bellagio and the ferries to take you to the other towns around the lake. We had dinner a few times at the Hotel Aurora, just down the road, and the food was wonderful.

We really enjoyed our stay at this home. The view was amazing and the property was very nice with beautiful bathrooms and everything you could want. The owners provided wine, pasta, breakfast items etc. to get you thru your first day. The Hotel Aurora at the bottom of the hill had wonderful food. The road was steep, but after the first time it wasn't a problem and made you feel like you were living the Italian way and being on the hill afforded you an amazing view that you wouldn't have otherwise.
Owner response:Those last few meters of road can definitely be a challenge for the uninitiated. We're glad the majority of people seem to feel that the comfort of the property and its beautiful view over the lake are worth the sometimes hair-raising drive!

While looking for places to stay in Bellagio, I came across a website for Ca de l’Uga Dulza which is located in the quaint village of Lezzeno, approximately 5 miles from Bellagio. After quite a bit of correspondence with Kate, all was in order and our trip was finalized. She was always quick to answer any correspondence sent and answered all of the questions we asked. Ca de l’Uga Dulza is located up a small winding road with not much past the point of the apartment. Due to its high location, it is extremely quiet, a perfect place to relax. We rented the two apartments on the top floor, which included a balcony off of one of the bedrooms and a balcony off of the living space. We had seen the photos of the apartments on the website, and can tell you, they do not do justice to the beauty of the view and the beauty of the apartments. Kate has done an incredible job of decorating. She had fresh flowers on the dining table, fresh herbs to use for cooking, a well stocked refrigerator (juice, milk, eggs, bread, cheese, etc.), a fully stocked kitchen and a nice bottle of wine for our arrival. Everything we needed in a kitchen was there. The bedrooms are of a very nice size and the bathrooms (along with slippers and robes) are wonderful. Truly, Kate and Nico have thought of everything. We would definitely stay at Ca de l’Uga Dulza again should our travels take us back to the Lake Como area.
Owner response:I'm always glad to answer any and all questions beforehand as I want potential renters to have a clear idea of what they can expect from the property. Our elevated position off the beaten path, yet within easy reach of Bellagio and the center-lake area, makes the apartment ideal for those travelers seeking peace and tranquility without sacrificing convenience. And while it probably means our photos need to be redone, we'd certainly prefer to have guests "wowed" in person upon arrival than to hear that they drooled over the pictures from afar! (Just to clarify, this lovely group of Texans stayed in the two-bedroom upstairs apartment as described above. The reference to "two" apartments stems from the fact that they came in through our independent Web site, which is structured differently.)

I recently stayed at this beautiful apartment in Lezzano (overlooking Lake Como), and I could not have been happier with my experience. The apartment was immaculate, inviting, and tastefully decorated. The host thoughtfully provided basic food items (pasta, sauce, fruit, juice, water, etc), which were very welcome after a long day of traveling. The owner also gave excellent advice on places to visit and things to do. The apartment itself is located in Lezzano, with a conveniently located ferry stop. I would recommend a car, however, so that travelers do not have to depend on the slightly confusing and expensive ferry system. Overall, one of the nicest places I've ever stayed. I definitely plan on going back!
Owner response:Thanks so much for your thoughtful review! We know how tiring it can be sometimes to navigate around the lake, so we're glad we were able to make you feel welcome after a long trip. We hope to see you again soon! Kate & Nico

Just wanted to drop you a short note to say that our time spent in Lezzeno was the highlight of our vacation. You run a first class operation, which I hope will grow over the coming years!
