In winter Jay Peak offers the most snow and the best glades in the east for skiers and riders of all abilities. Cross country ski or snowshoe right out the back door on trails maintained by the Hazen's Notch Association. Summer offers hiking (Long Trail etc.), road and mountain biking, golf at the stunning new Jay Peak championship course, or leisurely drives to Lake Champlain, Stowe, Burlington or the "festival" city of Montreal (only 1 1/2 hours away).
Of course there is always the option of not exerting oneself at all and just enjoying this comfortable home. Watch the foliage turn from the bluestone patio, enjoy a movie on the plasma in the den, or take in the mountain views while having a soak in the master bedroom ensuite. Stay connected with WiFi internet . . . if you really feel it's necessary.

We rented this beautiful property from Dec 26- Jan 1, 2011. The house worked great for our group, The kitchen proved to be a gathering space with it's eat-in table/booth arrangement. Very well equipped and user friendly. The wood stove worked well enough but it was not a gathering point as we might have expected. It is in a high traffic area and we did not feel we could use it during the day with young children walking by it. The heating system made up for it with its many zones that allowed very good control. At first we thought the kitchen floor was pretty cold but when I found the book of pictures that showed the renovation I realized that the thermostat near the table in the kitchen controlled the floor - very nice! The bedrooms certainly worked but with 2 rooms with double beds (not queens) and two other rooms with a bunk bed with a double on the bottom and a single on top - the accommodations for couples beyond the master left something to be desired. The double beds were also not comfortable at all. The weather was a complete mix of cold with fresh snow at the beginning of the week to quite warm at the end. This allowed us to have it all including a great snowman. The lights in the trees and floods in the yard enhanced the feel at night. All-in-all a great rental from a guy with a great attitude - easy to work with and concerned that all went well for us. It was as advertised and very clean. Definitely recommend to a family for a gathering. We went to News Years Eve fireworks at Jay Peak which were very nice and worth the drive (15 mins)
Owner response:Glad you enjoyed the house Ken. The bedroom arrangements usually work very well for our family and the groups of renters we have in. Gerry.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.
Secluded and in full comfort

We spent a wonderful 3 days long weekend at Jay Peak Vacation Home in Montgomery Center. Being a group of 7 adults and 2 teenagers, we enjoyed cooking in the large and very well equipped kitchen, all the kitchenware needed was there. We were thrilled to cook on the large rustic style gas stove. There was plenty of room for everyone. A Large living room, a family room equipped with a large LCD, a DVD player and a sound system with speakers all around the first floor made our late evenings even more enjoyable .Upstairs, the master bedroom was a real suite with a bath just aside a bay window with a fantastic view of BigJay yet providing all the privacy needed. It felt just as if the mountain was part of the house's private garden. All beds were comfortable and plenty of linens were supplied. The neighbourhood is quiet; few horses in the nearby field, mountain stream and wild geese filled the tonal picture. Terrific break from the City, will certainly repeat the experience.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.
