Wolves, bear, moose and elk abound in our area of Yellowstone and the Beartooth Mountains. There are beautiful mountain views from the back deck, and front windows. Some of the best wild trout fishing in the world is minutes from the house. These include the Yellowstone River, Lamar River, Slough Creek, Soda Butte Creek, and the Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone.

A great family day can be spent touring the famous features of Yellowstone or taking a day trip to Cody, WY to see the Wild Bill Cody Museum, a grnuine rodeo nightly, a gun fight at the original Irma Hotel, good food, and many shops including the Sierra Outlet. Best time for animal watching is June and early July, while the best time for fishing is mid July through September. Hiking is fabulous anytime.

The house is clean, spacious and comfortable, with a Great Room and fireplace, modern kitchen and laundry with half bath on first floor. Second floor has two very large bedrooms: One has three single beds and the other a queen bed and a single. This arrangement will sleep a family of six or 5 singles. Also a newly remodeled full bathroom upstairs.

Outside thre is a rear deck with gorgeous mountain vies so close you feel like you can reach out and touch them. There is a grill and patio furniture for outdoor dining. There is also a very small stream in the yard which holds a few native Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout. Very private yard.

We had the best time staying in this fabulous rental house, and yes it felt just like home. They anticipated all of our needs and everything we could have wanted was available to us. The wildlife was abundant, the weather fantastic and the fishing superior. We were so close to the park and so much more, everyday you can choose to head off in a new direction or to a new adventure, you choices were limitless. It was had to choose, but we managed, and when we returned each evening this cozy home awaited us. We are headed back for a second week soon, can not wait.

My wife Nancy had a wonderful stay. The house is clean, spacious, and has everything we needed. Its also very well located just outside the NE park entrance and at a very affordable rate. Dinner and supplies are in walking distance or you can take a very short drive to Cooke City just down the road for more choices. Marcia and Hank were wonderful and friendly hosts. Marcia provided all the local info we needed and some excellent fishing tips. We both caught 20+ inch cut throat trouts in the Lamar and felt like pros. We spent most of our time hiking and fishing in the park with a few select visits to the local park attractions. It was an absolutely beautiful area that has plentiful wildlife with options for everyone's interest and capabilities. Of the many places we have traveled in the US this was the best vacation yet. We wish we had brought more people! Highly recommended.

Owner response: I am so pleased that you and Nancy enjoyed your vacation. I hope you will return soon as you still haven't had a chance to go to Cody for the dday to see the Wild Bill Cody Museum or the Rodeo. And those hikes to the Beartooth lakes is waiting for you too. One week is not enough to get it all in, so we hope you do come again. We did enjoy having you! as our guests.

We stayed at the cabin in late June with our 4 kids. The cabin was spacious and comfortable and the washer and dryer was a great benefit. The towns people in Silvergate were warm and friendly and the folks at the store across the street were more than helpful. The kids enjoyed the nightly campfires and the wildlife scopes set up outside. wildlife was abundant both in town and in the park, bears, elk, wolves, moose, eagles to name a few. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient location to the park. Thanks for the best vacation!

What a surprise this has been! I caught fish everywhere I tried - Soda Butte, Lamar Canyon, Slough Creek, and The Clark's Fork of the Yellowstone. It was great to get back in Yellowstone after 20 years.

Who needs Yellowstone when so much wildlife happens outside the front door in Silver Gate. Honestly, we loved being so close to the Lamar Valley and all the wolves, grizzlies, and buffalo, just to name a few. We had a wonderful time.
