This beach house is a topnotch rental in any book! Pictures simply do not do it justice. Immaculate, well-appointed kitchen, comfortable beds, and a lovely open floor plan for living, dining, and cooking. Beachy decor plus small private pool, hot tub, and laundry facilities. Huge pluses all! Our mini family reunion/vacation was a hit with everyone. Beach access was immediately across the street and the water and waves could be both seen and heard from every one of the four decks. No lack of space here. Loved, loved, loved this house! Especially enjoyed shops Bumblebee and Topsail Island Trading Company (Surf City) as well as the unexpected Quarter Moon (Topsail Beach.) The highly-recommended Beach Shop and Grill (Topsail Beach) was a treat. We truly felt at home in this lovely beach house and very much hated to leave! You will not regret a stay in this family-friendly beach home.

Owner response:Sounds so good that we want to head right back down to the beach house. We have to agree....it is a great place to watch the sun rise out of the ocean at day break, have a coffee on the deck to the sound of the breaking waves, beach comb, and get ready for drinks and a dip in the pool and hot tub before going out to dinner. It is a tough job, but someone has to do it!

Amazing Vacation Spot

My husband and I had the most amazing week in this beautiful home, and we didn't want to leave! The beach is an amazing spot to walk along, collect shells and just sit and watch the waves. While there my husband enjoyed fishing at Surf City Pier, we drove to historic Wilmington and had the most fun visiting with our son stationed at Camp Lejeune. We did wonder if the pictures on the website truly represented the house and believe me they do, the house is beautiful and the kitchen is better stocked than my kitchen! All this helped as we hosted some hungry Marines for dinner one night and had no problem doing so in this kitchen! The hot tub is to die for, there is a washer and dryer so don't pack to much and enjoy all the wonderful places to eat in and near Topsail! This is a vacation spot not to be missed!

My husband and I stayed in this lovely house with our 4-year-old son the last week in September. The house was cozy yet had everything we needed. It was so convenient to just walk across the street and be on the beach. We spent hours collecting seashells and playing in the surf. When my son was tired of the saltwater, we were able to come back to the house and let him splash around in the pool. We all enjoyed the hot tub as well. The area is nice and quiet - the beach was not deserted, but it was far from crowded and we began to recognize the same families each time we were there, so it had a more intimate atmosphere than the more commercialized beaches. I would highly recommend North Topsail Beach and particularly this property if you are looking for a fun time without the hassle of the beach crowds.

A comfortable home just across the street from the beach. Grilling on the deck while kids played in the pool,crabbing at night,and fishing at dawn. When we needed a break we relaxed in the home and the family is now addicted to chess. The owner has great communication and you can tell he cares about his home and the people who stay there. We had a great time and would love to go back. Of course their is internet connection and tv for those that still want to be plugged in but it was amazing when the kids didn't even turn it on! That's a vacation:)

Owner response:It sounds like our guests had a great stay at the beach and made it a true vacation without watching TV and spending time on the computer.....fishing, crabbing, swimming and chess in addition to the usual BBQ'ing, beachcombing and hot tubbing. There is never enough time to do everything on North Topsail.

Great Vacation and Relaxation

This was a great vacation spot for us. Just what we were looking for. Sitting on the beach all day and relaxing. Upon arrival, the house was just as clean and cozy as in the pictures. We spent every day but one on the beach. This location is also very close the the inlet, so the fishing was fun also. We walked the beach during the morning and day and found lots of sand dollars, large conk shells, and many other types of shells. The pool was very nice, but cool during this time of year. The hot tub was awesome. If you are looking for a place to spend your time shopping and going, then topsail may not be for you. If you are looking for a time of sitting on the beach during the day and game time with the family at night, you are in luck. We will definately return here again. Would recommend this place to anyone. The owners are great and will respond very quickly to emails and answer any questions. Great vacation for us. I would recommend Mainsail Restaurant. Great food and good service for us.

Owner response:Sometimes it is difficult to decide between fishing at the inlet, walking the beach looking for shells (particularly good after a storm), going for a swim or sitting in the hot tub..... or trying one of the good local restaurants (try The Beach Shop Grill at the southern end of the island next time). Whatever you do, North Topsail Beach is the place to stay. Come back and enjoy seaside solitude with a good book in the winter as well....we love it!

Excellent Vacation Spot

From the beginning, this was a wonderful experience. I first was impressed by how quickly the owner was able to return emails or answering questions. Once we arrived, I was impressed by how clean, open and airy the house was. All the windows and skylights provided lots of sunlight and views, and the kitchen was very well stocked. Since we were new to the area, the drawer full of area information (maps, etc) were very helpful. Each deck had a different view and was a great spot to relax and listen to the waves. The beach access is right across the street. Spending time on the beach was a great way to start each day, followed by an afternoon dip in the pool. Overall, it was a superb and much needed vacation! We loved it! The owner recommended The Beach Shop and Grill in Topsail Beach for a Father's Day dinner...It was absolutely fantastic! A couple other spots to check out…The Topsail Island Trading Company and the Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehab Center in Surf City.

Owner response:Our guests from Ohio apparently enjoyed North Topsail and our beach house as much as we do. There is no shortage of things to do and the beach is always right there in front of you. A cool shower, a dip in the pool and a beverage of choice poolside while dinner cooks on the grill is a great way to finish a day at the beach. But leave one night for an outstanding dinner outing at The Beach Shop and Grill in Topsail Beach!

Great Place to Escape

Overall the cottage was very comfortable, clean and well stocked with kitchen items. We loved the pool, hot tub and the short walk to the beach. Who could ask for more! The area is great for enjoying bike rides or just taking a walk. Most of all, the weather cooperated so we could enjoy every second of our vacation at this great little cottage. Would recommend this to anyone wanting a nice quite place to relax and enjoy the Topsail Island.

My husband and I spent the most amazing week in the most lovely, well-cared for vacation home that reached way above the expectations we had before we arrived. Nothing ever looks as good as the photos so we thought it coudn't possibly really be that wonderful. I was speechless. It was a dream vacation for us. We left very stressful jobs behind and lost ourselves in this most perfect paradise where we watched the sun rise everyday from the front deck with a cup of coffee, took a morning walk on the beach, came back to momosas on the deck by the pool, sunning and relaxing,smiling and pinching ourselves that we were actually in this beautiful home all to ourselves. Quiet and relaxing, but not very far from anything we needed. We never wanted to leave the house, though, so we bought fresh seafood and cooked ourselves. We packed things we didn't need. The house, particularly the kitchen, had everything imaginable! I fantasized that it was our home for the week we were there, and I cried as we were preparing to leave. I keep a photo of the beach house on my desk in my office as a reminder that I am counting the days until my husband and I can return to what is now our most special place ever. And there is even a Steeler bar nearby! You just can't beat that! We hope you will allow us to come back next year. We can't say thank you enough!

Owner response:This review pretty much describes our feelings about this great vacation spot. There is nothing we would do to change it unless we could convert that Steelers bar/restaurant into a New England Patriots fan hangout. It seems the whole area is a vacation haunt of Pittsburg Steelers fans. Nevertheless, welcome back next summer (or come enjoy a great winter beach getaway).

Best vacation ever!

My husband and I have stayed at many different vacation homes over the years, but this was the one that felt most like a home as opposed to a rental property. The kitchen was incredibly well-equipped, the landscaping was beautiful, the house clean and very cozy, with furniture you can just sink into with a book during a rainstorm. Since we were there before the season really got going, not everything was open yet. Call ahead before you try to go somewhere during the off-season. We grilled out on the deck most of the week, but had a great meal out at The Green Turtle (awesome seafood pasta!). It's obvious the owners take great pride in the property, and we can't wait to make a return trip. Hopefully it can be an annual trip for us!

While the summer months are outstanding on the beach, the other seasons have much to offer in the way of a quiet, relaxing communing with nature ..... the sounds of the waves and sea birds and the collection of sea shells, driftwood and relics offered up by the sea after a storm. Wonderful getaway!

From start to finish, our entire experience could not have been better. Renting through the owners is extremely easy - my questions were answered promptly, and everything was in order for our stay. The house is very comfortably furnished, and the kitchen is stocked with everything you could ever need. The beach was beautiful - since we went during the off season, there weren't many other people around, so it was very peaceful and relaxing, which is just what we wanted. It was too cold for the pool, but the hot tub was a welcome way to end each day. Grocery store and restaurants are a short drive away. I would recommend this property to everyone, even though I'd like to keep it as a secret for myself! We will definitely be back!

Owner response:Another guest who enjoys the beach in the winter time! We love walking on the beach looking for shells after a winter storm, then warming up in the hot tub and afterwards sinking into the sofa with a hot chocolate. Not that laying on the beach in July with a cool drink is bad!

Quiet R&R by the sea

My husband I traveled from PA to Raleigh for a friend's wedding celebration. After celebrating for 4 days we knew we would need a week to quietly detox. We were happy that the Foster's lovely beach cottage was able to come to our rescue. If I could describe this cottage in one word it would be: cheery. Everything about it is sunny, bright, and feels friendly, with it's colorful decor and warm furnishings. It has everything: lots of airy windows, 3 decks, ceiling fans and a good kitchen. (I loved the cookbooks and copied many a recipe in the afternoons.) The pool and hot tub are big bonuses and the short walk across the street to the beach ideal. I loved our long shell-combing walks in the morning and reading on the deck in the afternoons, the waves rising and falling a short distance away. All our days were sunny and I could get used to being tan in late October. This is a quiet part of town, peaceful, restful. We enjoyed our stay very much.

The house was just as promised and our family of 6 had a very enjoyable time. The premises are well maintained and owners were very accomodating with our late reservation request. Fun Holiday in the Sun

This is a great house on North Topsail Island. The pool & hot tub were loads of fun. The beach is right in front of the house with access across the street. The house is decorated with the beach theme. The kitchen was well equipped. The house was clean and comfortable. The surf fishing is good on this end of the Island. "King Fish" caught spot & whiting fish. Someone else caught red drum. If you stay here you will have a great time! The neighbors are friendly and the owners are very nice & accomodating.

Owner response:The surf fishing and pier fishing improves as the sunbathing season winds down. October is prime fishing time. But it is always enjoyable on North Topsail Beach, even strolling the beach with a hot coffee looking for shells washed up by a winter storm.

Our family of four just LOVED this home, you couldn't ask for a better place to stay. The pool and hot tub were a wonderful way to end the day of sun, sand and crashing waves...The owner was so pleasant and helpfull... We only left the house once to eat out and that was breakfast at New York Corner Delli, however, we enjoyed cooking fresh seafood from Shrimp Lady Lane.....It was so nice to have an outdoor grill to cook on!!!! We were so thankfull to get to share this home, and hope to come back to Topsail to enjoy another week of sun and fun...

June 2010 Vacation

My family had a wonderful vacation on North Topsail Beach. It's very quiet and the beaches are not crowded at all. The beach near the home is wide and beautiful. The pool was an excellent alternative for our 2 little girls, who couldn't quite handle the ocean's waves just yet. But we built more sand castles than you can shake a stick at. We stocked up at the local grocery store and hardly ever ventured out. Surf City is about 20 minutes away, with several restaurant options, but it's too commercial for our taste. We grilled out on the gas grill most nights. In sum, if you're looking for quiet R&R, this is a great option. Bonus points to the owner, who was very responsive and easy to work with. He helped accomodate our family and answered all questions in a timely manner.

We enjoyed staying at the house very much. The beach on Topsail is wonderful! We had plenty of things to do in the area for the grandkids beside swimming and 'beachcombing"; although that was our favorite thing to do while we were there! We also enjoyed watching the air and sea activity from nearby Camp Lejeune. Thanks again for a pleasant experience.

Early Vacation

My husband and I decided to get away for a week prior to our son's graduation (PhD) and all the festivities planned around it. We made last minute arrangements and headed to Topsail not having stayed in this house before. It was great! The house is very nice and quite comfortable, and we enjoyed the view from the porch where Naval exercises were being held off shore. Since it was the end of April, much of the week was cool, and so the hot tub was wonderful. We highly recommend this property.

Owner response:If it's not the playful porpoises or working shrimp boats visiting offshore, it's the U.S. Navy. Everybody loves North Topsail Beach.

This house is beautiful and has a home like feel to it. Stayed in it for a week in March 2010 and had a wonderful time. The owner is great and very accomidating. This 3 bedroom 2 bath house is Beautiful inside and out. I recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing time at Topsail beach.

Comment Text: What a beautiful and charming vacation home this is! This vacation home is modern, comfortable, and tastefully decorated inside and out. Our family of 5 could not ask for more! We are so pleased with how easy it is to rent from VRBO! The owner of this property is personable, professional,and eager to please guests. Our first morning at the house we were looking out of the sliding doors towards the ocean while eating and saw dolphins jumping out of the water. I almost feel like I shouldn't have to say any more. The house was clean and accomodating, the hot tub was the perfect ending to each day of beach walking, and we can't wait to go back! Management was friendly and accomodating, and so is this gem of an island!

I will start by saying that the pictures in NO way do this house or location justice!! The house is extremely clean and very charming and inviting. From apple corer to umbrella, no detail has been overlooked! The appliances and decor are modern and comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) you could possibly need, less the food, to prepare and serve absolutely anything. Although with all of the decks, the pool, the jacuzzi and the beach all calling it was hard to stay inside to enjoy it! The beaches are wide and welcoming, and the fishing is world class! The community is welcoming and rich with local history, as well as a claim to fame in the recent Richard Gere Motion Picture (Nights in Rodanthe) filmed largely in and around a house just up the beach from "our" (for those two weeks, anyway) house. I would highly recommend this home for any type of family vacation, or romantic getaway...my son proposed to his long term girlfriend under the amazing star view (did I mention AMAZING star views?) on the front deck of the house, and she said later that it was the perfect place! Sunrise on the beach was my personal favorite...I was awed anew each morning. Honestly!! I will be posting a link to this awesome rental to my fellow "Military Moms" website, along with my sincere recommendation. It is approximately 20 minutes to Camp Lejeune and would be perfect for visiting our sons and daughters in uniform. I cannot wait until I have another opportunity to visit, and plan to schedule it according to the availability of this home!!! Sincerely Tonja I and family

A home from home

Despite the slow, confusing start on trying to gain access to the property, we had a fantastic time at this beach home. Its everything it describes. We loved the peaceful beach with its warm shallow water. The children really enjoyed the pool at the house despite our first reservations of the size. The only negative thing I would say is about the charge for cleaning. We arrived early because we couldn't get hold of the owner to ask how to get access to the house. We thought the cleaner would be there if we arrived early. The house was locked up so we called the cleaner. She informed us that her sister was on her way over so we waited for a half a hour. No one arrived so we called again. The cleaner did say she tried to call back to tell us how to gain entry into the property. She wasn't the friendliest. When we first arrived, we found loads of little dead flies in the bath and shower and on the floor. The surfaces needed a dust and there was sticky glass rim marks on the chest of drawers in the bedroom. The floors had not been cleaned well and under the beds were very dusty. The kitchen floor needed a good mop down and there was streaks of something spilt down the fridge side. Whilst checking to make sure we hadn't left anything we came across old sweets stuck under the sofa cushion. I realize compared to other properties this one was excellent but I do think the cleaner needs to be more thorough as the rental cost and cleaning is expensive. Despite this I would thoroughly recommend this property to anyone.

Owner response:We are pleased that our guest rates our property a 5/5, "had a fantastic time at this beach home" and would "thoroughly recommend this property to anyone". The two shortcomings, i.e., having difficulty gaining entry and finding the house less than clean, are due to the fact that the guest arrived three hours before check-in time, before the house was ready. We use the five hours between check-out and check-in time to assure cleanliness, something attested to by our other past quests who have submitted reviews. The keys are not left for the guest until the house is ready. Thus the guests' difficulty in finding the key.....the house was not ready. As an aside, we would suggest that guests from abroad give us a U.S. number where they can be reached while in the U.S., if possible, in case questions such as these arise and we need to get back to them.

This house is wonderful!!!! It has everything you could think of needing while on vacation!!! We have 4 boys and they all did very well and loved the pool!! The walk to the beach is very short and a short drive around the corner you can drive you 4 wheel drive truck on the beach.Once again this house has EVERYTHING you can think of needing!! We are sooooooo coming back next year!

Beach House

Everything was as advertised, pool and hot tub was great! This home is very clean and nicely decorated. Located on a very quiet and peaceful end of the island, great for kids. Take your kayak for great fishing and miles of shell collecting on the deserted beaches across the inlet. Renting from Ken was very convenient and pain free with a super fast return of our security deposit. Would definitely recommend to others.

North Topsail beach house

We enjoyed our stay very much. We loved the pool, the hot tub and really enjoyed relaxing on the decks. My husband was happy that there was internet provided so he could always stay in touch with our office back home. Everything was very clean. The house caretakers stopped by several times to ask if everything is o.k. We felt very safe because the local police partolled serveral times a day. The only thing we missed was a second TV and more TV channels.
