Location: Truckee, Lake Tahoe North Shore CA, Lake Tahoe California, California, USA (Reno/Lake Tahoe/Truckee)
Accommodations: Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-4)
This is a WINTER rental. It is not available until December. The 2009/2010 snow season promises to be a wonderland in all three villages: downtown historic Truckee, Northstar and Squaw Valley. Walk to the train station where you can catch shuttles that deliver skiers to the resorts so you can leave your car and skip the parking nightmares. At the end of your day, you are dropped right back in town, about 1/2 block from this apartment.
Your accommodation is in a renovated old home that sits alone on the hillside, above all the traffic. The home has been restored and improved with the historic character of the property in mind. You will appreciate the charm of an older Victorian-style residence with big windows, hardwood floors, tile countertops and antique furnishings, while enjoying modern amenities.
One hundred years ago, Truckee was a secluded hard-working mountain town which farmed lumber and ice until it began to attract movie stars and adventurers who wanted pristine recreation. Sporting one of the country's first ski lifts, it turned into a destination resort. While keeping its wild and free atmosphere, Truckee has grown to be quite sophisticated.
This is an opportunity to be literally right in downtown. The bustling historic main street offers an old-fashioned Winter holiday scene with decorated Christmas trees and lots of lights. From Halloween to Valentine's Day and all the holidays in between, you can expect snowfall.
