We had a wonderful stay. The home is so nice and spacious. The furniture is beautiful -what a wonderful retreat. We celebrated Christmas in the area so we had a houseful with 10. We do wish there had been one or two more sofa beds as we had 2 that had to sleep on the couches the whole week. The other accomadations were wonderful. The master bedroom's king bed was a wonderful treat, the room was large as was the master bath. The other two showers certainly helped with 10 people to get through each day. We spent a lot of time relaxing together in the basement in the evenings watching dvds or playing on the Play Station. There is plenty of room in the main area as well as a nice bedroom with 2 sturdy bunkbeds. Being able to do laundry was such a blessing. After traveling 18 hours each way, it was beyond nice to arrive home with little to no dirty laundry. The kitchen was well stocked with most everything we needed as far as pots/pans/dishes. It has been well thought out and supplied. The dining room area has 2 tables. A stereotypical table that seats 6 as well as a raised table that seats 6 as well. It worked for us to have the children at one table and the adults at another. The super surprise was the stocked toy area with a doll house, dolls, trains & track, dinosaurs, 2 rocking horses as well as plenty of chairs for seating. Our children spent a lot of time in there together playing games (there is a well stocked shelf in the basement) as well as relaxing and enjoying the toys. Our dog joined us for the week - it is so nice to have a home that is pet friendly. The mountains are beautiful in the area! One day we drove to nearby Nantahala Lake as well as up to the Appalachian trail. We checked out the Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters and enjoyed a day of rock climbing, zip lining, paint balling and swinging on the 3-man swing. Our son joined them another day for a trip to a nearby ski resort to snowboard. The children also took many opportunities to hike the trails around the house and check out the creek as well. One day we even had a little snow to make our Christmas vacation white....it was beautiful. The owners were readily available and very accomadating to our schedule. They keep the house very clean and renter-ready. There were plenty of clean towels, sheets and other linens for the week. It was the most relaxing vacaion we have had in some time. The kids have already asked several times if we can go again!

Great Cabin, Questionable Surroundings

The cabin itself is wonderful...roomy, well appointed, and comfortable. However, the area behind the cabin is marred by old trailers and broken-down vehicles - all of which are visible right out the back windows of the cabin. The views that you see in the pictures above are not taken from the cabin. There are some very nice hiking trails behind the cabin; however, you have to hike past some questionable "settlements" (as described by the owner). Overall, our stay at the cabin was fine because the cabin itself is very nice and the owner goes above and beyond to make sure that you have what you need to be comfortable there.

Owner response:In the past few months, a family member that owns the property behind our acreage (on the other side of the stream) has added a camping trailer and a broken down vehicle. It is partially visible from the back windows of the cabin. We are working with him to remove these unsightly items or to acquire his property. In the mean time, we have reduced our rental pricing to offer an even better value to our customers. We guarantee, you will not find a better price for a 3 bed 3 bath cabin anywhere in the Smokey Mountains.

Cabin getaway

The directions were impecable as well as the inside of the cabin was very impressive and clean. Definately a lot of thought and care was put into all of the wood furniture as well as the overall layout. The kids had the run of the basement which was great with the bunkbeds down there as well as all of the movies that were available for all ages. The only drawback for us was the following of the directions to the "hidden cove" which we never did find. However, while white water rafting the water there was 45 degrees f. , so not sure if a swim would have been long anyway. We would definately recommend this spot and cabin to our friends looking to get away from all the busy life. Thanks again for the overall relaxing terms and being available for us when we had questions.

Owner response:The water on the river is very cold because it is fed by the Nanahala dam and the water comes from the bottom of the lake, however, the lake water is beautiful and very comfortable for swimming and boating. The cove is a long relaxing walk - probably over a mile, but mostly shaded with canopy trees and the sound of rushing water that leads to the cove. It is well worth the walk.

Getting away from it all...

We wanted a family vacation away from the city and that is exactly what we got. The home was beautifully decorated and well equiped with everthing we needed to enjoy our stay. It was a bit of a haul to get to activities, but we knew that going in. Nearby white water rafting was very inexpensive and we went to Cherokee to go tubing, which was also great fun. We found a great local hotspot for swimming, cliff jumping and sliding down a waterfall (route 64) and the kids had a ball there. We will certainly stay here again if we come back to this area for vacation.

Owner was very accommodating to help us on short notice with paypal option. 20 min or so from Nantahala put in. Inside of cabin was very nice. Could comfortably fit your average family so my wife and I had plenty of room. Large yard, great for throwing football. GPS put us on the right road but needed to keep driving for 5 minutes or so after it told us we were there. Logging trail was not clearly marked and there were forks on the trail so we were not able to find lake. Overall nice place.

Great Location for a Real Getaway

If you are needing a place to go just to escape for a few days I would highly recommend this location. Located very close to Lake Nantahala, this home offers the solice without interference of internet, cell phones or other life distractors. The home is warm and comfortable and offers an inviting, comfortable atmosphere. The home is well equipped for a stay but we do recommend bringing soap for use in the showers since this are not provided, It is a rather long drive to the grocercy store in Andrews and you probably don't want to make an extra trip if not needed. This home is also pet friendly and great place to walk dogs. I know you will enjoy this secluded home.

Owner response:Travel bar soap & liquid hand soap is provided in each of the bathrooms. We have found over the years that most of our guests prefer to bring their own shampoo and conditioner, however, shampoo and conditioner are available upon request.

Staying at the Choga Creek Cabin, and visiting the Nantahala area of North Carolina, was one of the best family vacations we've had! The house is finished very nicely with knotty pine ceilings and floors, full TV room in the basement, and a nice front porch that was great to have morning coffee on. The kids explored the church and cemetary across the street and had a great time finding the oldest headstone. See if you can beat 1845? We enjoyed the firepit at night, and were lucky to catch a few falling stars! We enjoyed white water rafting, kayaking at Lake Fontana, mountain biking at TSALI Recreation Area. You dont want to miss the private cove. It is farther then you think on that first walk, but the water was cool and clean. Thanks for a great place in a great area

LITTLE CHOGA CREEK CABIN

BEAUTIFUL HOME - VERY SPACIOUS. ENJOYED THE KIDS TOY AREA AND THE SCREENED IN PORCH. THE PRIVATE COVE IS GORGEOUS WITH THE WATER BEING COOL AND CLEAR. IT'S JUST A FEW MILES TO WHITE WATER RAFTING. CABIN HAS A GRILL - WE ATE ALMOST ALL OUR MEALS AT THE CABIN WITH EXCEPTION WE WENT TO THE DILLARD HOUSE AND DIXIE STAMPEDE. IT'S A DRIVE BUT TAKE IN CHIMNEY ROCK STATE PARK - AWESOME VIEWS. ALSO THE TRAILS ACROSS THE STREET IF YOU GO THE TOP HAS SOME GOOD VIEWS ALSO.

Our relaxing weekend getaway

We really enjoyed getting away from it all. On Saturday we rode around Nantahala Lake and ate at Lake's End Grill. The trout was great! Then we watched the boaters going down the falls at Nantahala River. On the way back we took Old River Rd and saw some beautiful waterfalls. The only regret I have is that we didn't take the walk from our cabin to the cove on the Nantahala Lake.

My family enjoyed our stay at Choga Creek Cabin

This was my family's first time renting a cabin and we made a good pick on this one! There was plenty of room for our family of 6. (3 teenagers and a baby) Our 1 1/2 year old enjoyed all the toys available and was excited to be at this cabin. My wife and I really liked the layout of the house, with the tv downstairs and we really liked the wood ceiling. I'm planning on remodeling my home one day after this home. The creek behind the home was a bonus. The only downfall was we couldn't stay longer, and it takes about 20-25 mns to get to Ingles. We also found it was shorter to take Wayah rd to Hwy 19 if you were going to Bryson City rather than going through Andrews. We went rafting at paddleinn on Nantahala river and went Gem mining at Rose Creek mine. (No one fell out the raft) The kids got some good stuff, few emeralds, amethysts, garnets and green quartz. We also went to a waterfall at Deep Creek campground area. The kitchen had a good bit of dishes to use. There was also a large selection of disney movies and board games. Everyone enjoyed their stay here and we hope you do to. The owner is easy to reach and answered all of our questions.

Great Value without compromise

This very large cabin offered plenty of room for everyone to be comfortable. We slept like babies on those huge overstuffed beds. During the day there are plenty of things to do in the area. I recommend getting back before dark because those steep grades and sharp curves become very hard to navigate at night. Franklin, a short scenic drive, offers lots of treasure to those looking for gems and gold. Just past Franklin you can see some of the most amazing waterfalls in the eastern U.S. Bridal Veil Falls was amazing because you can stand behind the falls and it was very accessable. I highly recommend this cabin to those wishing to get away to a remote mountain paradise where the air smells of honeysuckle and the ground is filled with treasure!

We enjoyed our time in your mountain cabin during Thanksgiving. The sunroom dining area was big enough for a large family gathering. We bonded as a family and made memories we will treasure for a lifetime. Our highlights during our stay was the morning walks we took soaking up the clean mountain air, even during the winter without all the pretty leaves there was a peaceful stillness that renewed our spirits. We enjoyed games and movies by the fireplaces. The front porch swing was a trip back in time, we had a swing on our porch when I was growing up in the mountains and we would sit there and swing and let the troubles of the world pass us by. No one wanted to leave, the time passed so quickly. We will difinately come back to the mountains when we need a renewal once again. Thank you for making everything so comfortable and cozy.

Being able to escape from the city to a beautiful mountain cabin retreat is divine. I love your cabin, plenty of space for moving around and relaxing. Room for the kids to play, space for dinner entertaining. The beds and couches are very comfortable and I love the fireplaces. Being surrounded by nature and nearby Natahala Lake is also a plus. This cabin is a perfect home for vacation during any season of the year.

We enjoyed our stay and the changing of the leaves! The cabin was comfortable and the fireplaces were relaxing on the cool evenings & mornings. We even enjoyed exploring the old church & graveyard across the street. We were a bit taken back by the two run down/broken down single wide mobile homes on the property next door. Not the picturesque mountain views that I had anticipated. The cabin is certainly remote. I would suggest that anyone staying there be sure not to forget anything because the drive to the store takes a while. Also, be sure to do everything early because the streets of the tiny town all roll up and shut down early.

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful mountain cabin with us. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed relaxing at the cabin. Our group of nine slept very comfortable. We explored the trails around the cabin, visited the old Choga Lodge, visited with our families in Topton and Robbinsvile, and relaxed at night with guitars and singing. More seating on the porches would have been nice. We look forward to visiting the area and the cabin again in the future.

Thanks for a great stay in the mountains. Your cabin was clean and comfortable, and given that it rained almost the whole time we were there, we were glad there was enough space and things to do. A pleasant surprise was the huge playroom full of toys for my nephews! We would have preferred real tableware instead of plastic, and a 4 cup coffeemaker for 5 morning coffee drinkers is a bit of a pain, but those were minor annoyances. Oh, and I seriously covet your washer and dryer. Very nice! The folder full of information pamphlets for things to do in the area (in addition to your own helpful list) is much appreciated. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.

We found your cabin clean and relaxing. Our group of 8 slept comfortably in your large 3 bath 3 bedroom cabin. We loved the look and fresh smell of your hard wood floors, walls and ceilings. The furniture, fireplace and decor were comfortable and fitting. We relaxed every night to the soothing sound of the creek behind the house and the fresh mountain air. We spent several days enjoying your property surroundings where we hiked the beautiful mountain trails, caught some delicious trout and played in the Nantahala Lake. We subsequently drove to the Lakes End a few miles down Junaluska road, where we rented a boat to water ski and explore the lake and river coves. On our last day we navigated the white water rapids, restaurants and shopping at the Nantahala gorge. Our only criticism was the cluttered vacant lot adjacent to your property which is in need of some clean up. That being said, we have been active VRBO renters for over 10 years now and we agree with you that the Chogie Creek Cabin is the best value rental on VRBO. We look forward to returning to your wonderful mountain cabin very soon.
