Great location and host

Maria was a great host and I would definitely reserve this place again. It was clean, well maintained, safe, and centrally located in Old San Juan. Great for 2-3 people...maybe even a 4th if you don't mind sharing the space. On top of everything else, Maria picked up a few supplies for us to make us feel welcomed. It was a great personal touch and I greatly appreciated it. Easily walkable to every part of Old San Juan and taxis are plentiful if you travel out of OSJ.

Awesome time in Old San Juan

Guest: Prasad (Boston)
Date of Stay: 02/16/11 Review Submitted: 02/25/11

We stayed at Dr.Cruz's place in Calle La Luna for a week in Feb 2011. Overall our week long vacation in PR was absolutely the best ever vacation my wife and I had and I believe a major reason was our stay at this property. Dr.Cruz was extremely nice to us and was very easily reachable from US while I was reserving the condo for a week. She gave us tips and pointers on places to see and other related stuff. Our flight landed past mid night PR time and she made sure she was waiting for us at the apartment and made sure our cab driver knew exactly where the property was. She even did some grocery shopping for us and had some food and drinks which covered us for the whole week. The condo was very clean and had free wi-fi. The views were amazing since we were in the fourth floor. We could see all the cruise ships docking. The condo is right in the middle of the happening place in Old San Juan but still in a very residential street. Cll Luna is one of the residential streets in OSJ. The parallel streets of Cll San Francisco, La Fortelaza are commercial streets with tons of restaurants and shopping. Forte San Cristobal is walking distance from the condo and Forte Del Morro is just a 5 minute free trolley ride away. La Bombonera, Cafe Mallorca, St.Germain Bistro, Triana Tapas, Isantbul, Raices, Lupis Mexican are all walking distance away and some of the places we ate. It wont cost you more than $40 per couple for a full course meal plus tip. Breakfast is around $15 per couple. The condo is fully furnished. The bed room has AC. There is a super max grocery store just minutes away by walk. We actually cooked couple of our meals in the condo. Walking up 4 floors might be an issue for older folks but we didn't mind that. Another minor issue is that there were red ants in some places in the kitchen. Being from a tropical place in India, we were used to it and it did not bother us a bit. The condo had lots of sheets and towels and also has a washer-dryer which we used to launder our cloths before we left for Boston. Overall, we had an awesome time and I would not think twice before staying here again or recommending this to friends/family. Thanks a lot, Maria. I appreciate your help and hospitality. Hope to see you sometime soon. Prasad

November in San Juan

Guest: bigm (Edmonton, Alberta Canada)
Date of Stay: 11/16/10 Review Submitted: 01/09/11

My wife and I stayed here in November 2010. The location is perfect. We took a cab to the apartment (with direction help from Dr. Cruz) and spent 7 days exploring old San Juan on foot and with the free public transport. This apartment is in an excellent location. close to restauraunts (1-4 blocks for about 7 of them) and in between the two castles all within walking distance. A short bus tide takes you to the beaches at Condado which are very beautiful and go for a few miles. We had a small problem with the internet while there but Dr. Cruz fixed it in a day. Honestly a beautiful condo in a beauitful place

I have rented this unit several times and certainly would do so again. After having stayed in Condado (san Juan) for many years, I so much prefer Old San Juan! The neighbourhood is 'in transition' but I walk around at all hours, never with incident. I just love being so close to the galleries, historical sites, and commercial centre. It would be ideal to have an ocean view but the view of the cruise ships as they sail in and exit is lovely. The unit itself is terrific, well maintained and very comfortable. The owner is a pleasure to deal with.

Dr. Cruz has an amazingly beautiful condo on Calle de la Luna. My fiance and I had the pleasure of staying there for 4 nights in January, 2010. The location in old san juan is PERFECT. The condo is a couple of blocks away from EVERYTHING you need to experience a beautiful culture. Historical sights, authentic restaurants, shops and even a grocery store are a 5 minute walk away. Being on the 4th floor is great because you'll always have a breeze coming through the 3 (thats right three) double doors leading out to the balcony. The entire condo was immaculate upon arrival. Fresh cut flowers in the vase, all brand new working appliances, a plush leather couch, and one of the most comfortable beds i have ever slept in. Cafe Mallorca and La Bombanera are a block away and are great breakfast option. You'll have a hard time spending more than $5 a person. Warning- The coffee is amazing! Which will (unfortunately) make your daily starbucks back home taste like coffee-flavored water. Cafe Manolin is an amazing lunch (or casual dinner) spot that serves HUGE authentic PR meals for around $7 on the highend. If you have some free time I highly recommend renting a car for a day (theres a hertz rental car at the old san juan sheraton) and just driving to one of the other beautiful cities in PR. We took a car to fajardo, got on a catamaran and snorkeled all day. On the way home we stopped off at El Yunque and walked around the rainforest for a couple hours. We took 'the long way' home on Rte 183 and i raced my rental car against a couple of kids riding (bareback) horses down the side of the highway. Be sure to stop at one of the roadside stands and spend $2 for a beer and an empanada. (its alot safer than it looks and the people are very friendly) In summary, PR is the place to go, and Dr. Cruz's condo is the perfect headquarters for a couple looking to get away and immerse themselves in everything the city and the island have to offer.
