We all absolutely LOVED retreating to this beautiful home on the quiet,secure intriguing canal,where we spent many hours,watching crab wonder the sea bottom,skools of fish in early morning hours swim by and locating starfish as we sat along the canal,at sunrise and even sunsets~Found the "recommendation sheet" very helpful,supplied by homeowner and in fact,planned many itineraries around the list provided,which proved to save time,energy and money of our own resources,so that we could make the most of our time in the beautiful Keys and Key West! House was more than amply supplied.Our boys LOVED the basketball hoop and circle drive,to which they played game of ball every morning ,afternoon and evening,that we were around to do so. We LOVED the hammock that sits adjacent to the canal~ So relaxing and inviting as we escaped the hustle of Duval Street to this quiet,charming home. We grilled out,on deck dinners,including our fresh catches from the fishing charter our family took,with the suggested Captain Joe of Jolly Roger II,a first for our family!!! Caught two barracudas,yellow tail Snappers,Grouper and a couple of Mackarals!!! Saw seat turtle and dolphins all as they swam near our charter boat!!! We all had a BLAST!!!! Fished on the canal as well, with LIVE SHRIMP,which was also a first for our boys and a HUGE highlight!!! We couldn't reel the Snappers in fast enough!!! Highly recommend this beautiful home,and owner,as you will NOT be disappointed!!!!!! We take away from it,memories,that will last lifetimes!!!!!!Did you find this review helpful? The house was tucked away in a residential, queit neighborhood. House was 15 minutes from Key West - easy and close to get to, yet far enough away from the chaos of Duval Street. House was updated, clean and comfortable. Washer and dryer so we could do our own laundry. Kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook dinner at home. Beds were all comfortable. The house had all the amenities we needed/expected. The canal was clean and safe - nice to swim in - also good fishing. My son fished everynight in the canal and caught a handful of snapper. Pete did a nice job of explaining the house, all the details, and "things to do" in the area. The house was exactly what we expected - no surprises. Aside, for the moment,the comfortable,kick back feel of this wonderfull rental, the location put this vacation over the top. Whether a trip to the beaches of Bahia, Smathers,Higgs or Fort Zachary or the restaurants such as Louies Backyard,Blue Heaven,Mangrove Mamas,Hogs Fish or the must experience Mallory Square, Sunset Pier,or Hemingway House, all locations were no more than 30 minutes from the Calle Dos Compound. A private,hammock cat napping, lagoon plunging, fish catching, barbecuing, sun bathing, just chillin' vacation home with just the right touch of the "keyzee look" So,.leave your anxiety medication and laptop home,and come on down. The owners, Pete and the Mrs. are very helpful and will do all they can to help make this a perfect vacation..Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Property was exactly as described and perfect location. Everything was clean and the owner provided excellent communication/information. The house is beautiful, clean and on a very quite street. We felt like locals relaxing in the hammock out back and catching snapper in the canal. The canal is crystal clear and we would end almost everyday with a refreshing swim. I loved lighting candles and having our dinner outside while the sun set around us. We were here on our honeymoon and this house was perfect we could quickly get in and out of Key West for dinners and be back to relaxing in no time. Boating was awesome in the area so many rental places and fun spots to explore.The owners reccommendations were spot on. Some of our favorites were Blue Heaven,and El Siboney. This is just a wonderful place to stay. The neighbors are friendly, the canal is wonderful to swim in and the house is great. We towed our boat down to the Keys from Michigan and many thought we were nuts to take our 17' open bow to the ocean, but I had done my research and knew it would be the trip of a lifetime. While it is a bit tricky learning the routes you must take, and I thank Lee, owner of Murray Marina for his help, once you got them down it is happy times! The fishing is crazy, put a shrimp on a hook and you will catch fish. Snapper on the grill is tough to beat, eh. The house itself was clean, updated and with just my wife and I we had plenty of room to roam. The owner, Pete, answered all of our questions. He is trustworthy and knowledgable of the area and was a big help to us. It is a short 10 minute drive to "party town" from here, but we mostly enjoyed the quietness and openness of the sea. This was our first experience with VRBO. What a wonderful experience it was. Pete is a dream to work with ~ everything was exactly as promised. The house is very modern and clean. There is a hammock which is the perfect way to catch up on a little light reading. The added bonus is - your car has covered/gated parking. Pete's recommendations for restaurants was right on. Lunch at Sunset Island is a must for everyone! Location is perfect - felt very safe. Thanks to Pete for a lovely vacation and yes, we would stay there again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Pete, just wanted to let you know that we had a great time. Your house is beautiful and spotless. The neighborhood is nice and quiet and like you said Key West is a short drive. The beaches are great and Duval St.is a different world. We went to one of the drag shows at the Aqua on Duval and laughed for one and half hours, it was good. Tried a few of the resturants on your list and they were excellent. The sunsets at Mallory Square are always stunning and the vendors are entertaining. It was all good, thanks for sharing your home. We spent Christmas and New Years here and loved it. The accomodations were wonderful and the closeness to Key West was excellent. This rental was stocked with plenty of kitchen utensils and towels. If you enjoy fishing, the fish in the canal are hungry and are not afraid to bite. Peter was easy to work with and we enjoyed his house very much. Everything was exactly as described and depicted in the photos. The owner was very easy to reach and communicate with. The home was very clean and I would definitely recommend a friend/relative to stay here during their time in Key West. The owner included information on tourist activities, places to eat and other recommendations which were quite helpful. The house was clean and well prepped for our stay. Everything was as described in the property's profile. The owner was responsive, accomodating, and professional to deal with. Calle Dos is a quiet street with easy access to US1. A taxi ride for one from the house to Truman Annex was about $35 on the morning of Nov 11, 2011 (not bad when considering the difference in rental fees for comparable properties in that area on Key West during our stay).Did you find this review helpful? We stayed here for a week in the sun with our two adult children. It's a great spot - clean, comfortable, fully stocked kitchen. The canal was great for kayaking and floating around on tubes. Quick drive into Key West. Owner was great - left lots of information about sites to see. Highly recommend!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I were fortunate enough to stay here for our wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed! The house itself is charming and well maintained. We especially enjoyed the backyard area for fishing, grabbing a nice picnic lunch, or just lounging in the hammock under the palm tree. The location is absolutely perfect for those who want to go to Key West, but aren't really looking for the all night bar hopping scene. Easy access to waterways and all kinds of outdoor sports are right at your fingertips. Owners are very laid back and accommodating. Make sure you check out their recommendations for restaurants-they are spot on! All in all just a perfect Keys vacation house and we will be back!Recommended for: Romantic getaway

Besides being a beuitiful, large home with nice neighbors, this house is located close enough to Duval Street to drive for get a bite to eat and some cocktails, but not too close to have to deal with the drunken people and tourists. The boat ramps are in good condition, and the canal is a great place for relaxing after a day on the boat. Had an awesome time, and will stay here during our next vacation to Key West. The owner is easy-going and friendly as well, this always makes things go smoother.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband, another couple and I have just returned from this wonderful place! Close enough to Key West to enjoy the fun but removed enough to enjoy a quiet dip in the canal in the afternoon or just lounge in the comfy hammock. All the amenities of home, but with palm trees and cool breezes. The owner also supplied us with a two page list of places to eat, drink and be merry - so much to do - so little time... We are scuba divers and the location is very central to the dive shops we worked with. Definitely on the "places to return to list"!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

A group of us women decided to have a few days of relaxation, good food and enjoyment of nature. We got all that at this property. The accommodations were nice and plenty of towels and accessories were available. Not a gourmet kitchen, but nice enough of one to cook some decent food. The hammock in the back was relaxing and the swimming canal was a nice touch. We were also close enough to town to enjoy some night life if we wanted. All in all a very nice stay.Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I really loved this house. It was very clean and tidy and had everything we needed. The water was so clear and the close proximity to Key West was wonderful. We brought our own boat and that worked out great. The area was quiet so sleeping late was not a problem. We were there for 10 days and did not want to leave. We will definately come again. I just stayed at this place for the fourth week in the last two years. I would recommend it highly to anyone. Good fishing in the canal, ice cold A/C, flat screen tv's in living room and Master bedroom. The picnic table, lounges and swing were a recent and terrific addition. It is very convenient only five miles to Key West. There is a convience store a half mile north. There is a very good restaurant a quarter mile to the north called Bobalu's, good food, giant menu and reasonable. The neighbor hood is extremely family oriented and quiet. I can't wait to go again !Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This was a great rental. Dealing with the owner made the rental very simple and pleasant. He did everything he could to make sure our stay was memorable. Deep canal in the back, small bridge with narrow channel was the only downstroke for us with a boat with a t-top. The bridge had plenty of clearance at low tide. Landmarks on the island made returning to the house very easy to find and navigate. Everything in the house was well kept and the house was very liveable and clean. If you enjoy crystal clear water, boating,diving and just want piece and quiet this is the place! Five miles to Key West and you can stay in a nice clean house rather than a motel. The owner was very helpful to make sure everything was taken care of prior to our stay on the 1st of September. I plan on booking this house on our next trip to the Keys.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

If you enjoy crystal clear water, boating,diving and just want piece and quiet this is the place! Five miles to Key West and you can stay in a nice clean house rather than a motel. The owner was very helpful to make sure everything was taken care of prior to our stay on the 1st of September. I spent a week in February at this property. The proximity to Key West was nice, and being slightly east of Key West day trips to Bahia Honda State Park were reasonable. It is a nice neighborhood. The house is well represented by the pictures in the listing. The house is in very good shape. The beds/mattresses are newer and in very good condition. The house is well equipped for the renter. My biggest like about the house was the location, close enough to Key West to drive into town anytime, without having to stay in Key West. Great place to stay. Only 5 miles to Key West. The canal is full of fish. Very nice neighborhood, everyone is very friendly. The house is decorated very nicely.
