Appalachian Retreat is a brand new home completed in May 2008. It has been furnished exclusively at the Hickory Furniture Mart with top of the line leather mountain style furnishings. The house is log sided, with a red tin roof, two porches and three levels.

Each level has its own private bath and sitting area. The main level and lower level master suite each have a TV with Direct TV. The main level has a stereo system that is MP3 compatible, so bring your iPod! The kitchen has granite counters, stainless steel appliances, great dishes, serving pieces, wine glasses, cooking utensils. The owners outfitted this house not as a rental home, but as if they would use it full time.

This cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains has beautiful mountain views and is ideally located for visits to Boone and ASU, West Jefferson and the New River. The Blue Ridge Parkway entrance is five minutes away with great biking. Mountain biking and bicycle rentals are all close by. The owners have left travel brochures and biking guides to be used by the guests.

This cabin is in a great location to be able to have a quiet romantic getaway and then go into town for a great dinner. Blowing Rock is only 30 minutes away as are the ski slopes of Beech and Sugar Mountains. This cabin was purchased not just for its amazing looks, but for its fabulous location.

  • This is a beautiful cabin, very tastefully decorated, well equipped with everything you need and very comfortable beds! We especially enjoyed sitting in the glider chairs while enjoying the warmth from the "see-through" fireplace on the porch. Top quality at a reasonable price and the owners were very nice! We will be back!

  • I want to congragulate you on having the most splendid cabin we have stayed in at boone. It was very well done inside and out and the beds were magnificent. All the furniture was top notch and very tasteful we truly loved it and plan on returning in January for a weekend thanks for the awesome cabin it was truly a pleasant and serine experience.

  • This is a wonderful house! It's conveniently located near Boone, but because it's situated on top of a beautiful, secluded, wooded hillside you will certainly get the feeling of being "away from it all." The large back porch offers a private, tranquil place to sit in the early morning and watch the soft, feathery mist float up to the treetops. The woods next the house offers kids a perfect place to explore (think of the famous children's book, "My Side of The Mountain") and yet the woods are thin enough that I could keep an eye on my son while he played. The house, itself, is gorgeous. With its spacious, open floor plan and a bedroom on all three floors, the house is ideal for a multi-family vacation. We have lots of allergies to contend with, and the house was not only immaculate, but beautifully decorated. The owners are lovely people who clearly love this house, and want their guest to enjoy it as much as they do. The owners' attention to detail -- a kitchen stocked with lots of pots, pans, utensils, etc, a large gas grill, board games, foosball table, and even a basketful of DVDs for rainy days -- told me that they really want their guests to feel at home.

We mused that the owner must have a background in the high-end hotel business, as every detail was thoughtfully taken care of. The mountain setting was blessedly quiet and we enjoyed deep relaxation during our stay. We'd highly recommend it to anyone and look forward to our next visit.

  • What a lovely house. My husband and I have used VRBO for previous vacations and have always enjoyed our stays. Your house is by far the best decorated house we have stayed in. It is truly like staying in someone's home and not a rental home. The location is perfect. Seclued, but close enough to Blowing Rock and Boone. We also saw deer in the backyard! I have never received a thank you note by mail for staying at someone's home before. That was a very nice touch, which met a lot. We will definitely recommend your home to our friends!   • For a relaxing getaway to the High Country, this is your place. My family and friends thoroughly this brand new home. It's complete with all of the amenities of home and convenient to the Parkway, West Jefferson, and Boone. Also, the owners were most pleasant to work with. A great place for all seasons. Looking forward to our next visit already.
