Each level has its own private bath and sitting area. The main level and lower level master suite each have a TV with Direct TV. The main level has a stereo system that is MP3 compatible, so bring your iPod! The kitchen has granite counters, stainless steel appliances, great dishes, serving pieces, wine glasses, cooking utensils. The owners outfitted this house not as a rental home, but as if they would use it full time.
This cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains has beautiful mountain views and is ideally located for visits to Boone and ASU, West Jefferson and the New River. The Blue Ridge Parkway entrance is five minutes away with great biking. Mountain biking and bicycle rentals are all close by. The owners have left travel brochures and biking guides to be used by the guests.
This cabin is in a great location to be able to have a quiet romantic getaway and then go into town for a great dinner. Blowing Rock is only 30 minutes away as are the ski slopes of Beech and Sugar Mountains. This cabin was purchased not just for its amazing looks, but for its fabulous location.

Appalachian Retreat: Luxury Secluded 2008 Blue Ridge Log Cabin
Year Purchased: 2008
Why the Owner Chose Boone
After our son spent four years at Appalachian State University, we fell in love with the area and knew we had to buy a home there. We searched all the surrounding areas and were lucky to find this new home in a perfect location. Our home is secluded yet we can get to Boone, Blowing Rock and West Jefferson in no time. We love being secluded, but having the ability to go ride Railroad Grade Rd and Kayak or float the New River. Our favorite night time adventure is driving the 25 minutes to Grassy Creek,NC to the River House for a fantastic Dinner and great company. We have furnished this house so that we never feel like we are in a rental, but that we are in our home. It is top notch and our little best kept secret. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Owner's Map of Boone
We live in Eastern NC and are lucky enough to live on the Pamlico River. As beautiful as it is, it gets hot and muggy in the summers. The mountains have always had a special pull for us as we love to bike ride-both road and mountain biking, and we love hiking and exploring the outdoors. This home has given us a great place to relax and enjoy all that North Carolina has to offer us. Every trip up to our retreat is another opportunity to explore and discover new favorite places. We are so lucky to get to play in both the eastern and the western part of the state.

This was the first time that we visited this area of North Carolina and we had a wonderful time in this cabin. It is absolutely beautiful. It has everything that you could possibly ask for to make your stay comfortable. The location is close to all the surrounding towns and the Blue Ridge Parkway, but you feel like you are a million miles away from it all. The owners were a pleasure to work with and we would highly recommend this cabin. We would love to rent this cabin again in the future.

We had a terrific time at the Appalachian Retreat. The house itself was incredibly accommodating and very clean. With a family of six, a washer and dryer is a must and the beautiful, fully equipped kitchen + gas grill made meals at the house very convenient. The kids didn't want to leave the cabin. They wanted to just hang out and enjoy it. We had fun skiing, hiking, exploring caverns and going to Grandfather Mountain, but we also enjoyed our evenings playing games in front of the fireplace. We would highly recommend this home for your Mountain vacation.

This home is outstanding! The pictures don't do justice to its beauty and view of the beautiful North Carolina mountains. We felt welcomed the minute we walked in the door. Debbie and Dennis were fabulous to work with from our first inquiry until we returned back home. We definitely plan on going back.

My wife, 5 year old, 10 month old and myself had the pleasure of staying at this cabin in early December. We were amazed at how well it was decorated and furnished. We arrived on Friday afternoon and woke up to a snow covered deck. It was awesome to sit and look at the mountains with snow falling all around. As a family we appreciate Gods beauty and felt we were blessed to have experienced it at this cabin. On Saturday we went to Boone for breakfast and sleding but only made it half way up to the cabin off the main road. The owners were available to us and gave us the name and number to a neighbor who picked us up in his 4x4 and took us with our luggage back to our car the next day. We will be staying here again in the future and look forward to it. We've stayed at several places in the Boone area while there getting our Christmas tree but this was the best.

Our family has been to this cabin 2 times, once in the spring and just this last week at the peak of fall color, and we loved it both times. Everything is wonderful. The views are great. We loved sitting out on the deck/balcony in the evenings on a clear night, and getting cozy by the fireplace on a cold night. I can't say enough good things about it. Thanks to the owners for offering such a great place to stay. We look forward to visiting again!

We recently returned from a week at this mountain cabin and throughly enjoyed our stay. The house was immaculate and well designed to accomodate our group by providing us some private space in addition to open dining and living areas as well. The mountains are spectacular and we loved the Blue Ridge Parkway. We took hundreds of pictures of the beautiful landscape. We did some hiking, shopping, antiquing and even went South to the Biltmore Estate. A lovely time was had by all.

My brothers and I with our spouses rented the Appalachian Retreat in September 2010 for our annual family reunion. The cabin exceeded my expectations as it was clean, beautifully decorated and the kitchen well equipped for preparing and serving meals. Each floor of the cabin has special amenities to make your visit comfortable and enjoyable. One of my favorite things was the balcony with the glider chairs. It was great to be out at night where we were able to clearly view God’s creation of the great expanse in the sky – the stars, planets, The Milky Way, The Big Dipper, etc. Appalachian Retreat is located near several towns with many sites/activities to enjoy. Restaurants and grocery stores are conveniently located as well. One of our favorite meals was breakfast at Dan'l Boone Restaurant in Boone. We were in the dead zone with our cell phones but the cabin had a phone for local calls and for family/friends to contact us. Debbie gave out plain and informative instructions on locating the cabin and for our stay. In the cabin, a booklet of information regarding the area was provided . My family had a wonderful time at the Appalachian Retreat and we look forward to another visit in the future. My family highly recommends the Appalachian Retreat as a perfect place to go to have a great time in the mountains of North Carolina.

Aug 21-29 2010 Enjoyed everything about the 'Appalachian Retreat Cabin' (though we found it more spacious than just a cabin.) Very central location for Boone, Blowing Rock and Jefferson as described. It was sparkling clean upon arrival and a delight to be in for the week. Even with some rain the rooms were light and cheery. We were able to sit on the deck and relax in the wonderful glider chairs and when the sun was too warm just moved down a floor to the shaded deck which also had the comfortable gliders. Loved the eclectic decorating in all the rooms and found the kitchen to have everything needed to prepare gourmet meals. Really appreciated your book with details on where to go, things to do and how to get there. We took in many of the local sights, did a little bit of hiking, shopping, gem mining, and even one winery tour. Two of our group even 'climbed the wall' in Boone. Every evening was a Foozball playoff. So much fun, too short a time. Thank you for providing such a lovely place for our getaway.

We had a fabulous week's vacation staying at Appalachian Retreat. The cabin is fantastic!! The furniture, furnishings, appliances, kitchenware, etc. were all top notch. All was spotless. We felt like we were living in luxury. Everything about the home is first class. Great secluded, yet convenient location. We kept busy hitting many of the nearby attractions. We especially enjoyed the New River (tubing/canoeing), Todd, Grandfather Mountain, town of Blowing Rock, zipline, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and scenic hikes. All attractions were close by and enjoyable to drive to. We spent two days just hanging out at the cabin, relaxing and enjoying the place. Great family time for the five of us. Wonderful weather also, not too hot for the end of June. I could elaborate more about the luxurious cabin, but the previous comments say it all precisely. Thank you for sharing your wonderful cabin/home!!
