One whiff of the plumeria blossoms and you'll know you've arrived.
The Papakea complex sits just off the main road in the town of Honokowai, just north of Ka'anapali, on the leeward (an old nautical term meaning "best") side of Maui. But traffic is light, and the condo is free of noise and congestion – just the sounds of the Pacific waves crashing on the sand mere yards from your bedroom window. You can throw a baseball into the ocean from the balcony.
Witness sunsets that seem almost otherworldly, they're so spectacular. With gorgeous views of Molokai and Lanai. (Not "the lanai", but Lanai – the actual island.)
The first stretch of beach is just an elevator ride and a 100-foot walk away from your bedroom door. The old Hawai'ian capital of Lahaina, West Maui's major town, is just 8 minutes south. To the north is the bucolic, world-famous resort of Kapalua, where the PGA season traditionally kicks off.
Papakea's common areas include a big pool and Jacuzzi, along with shuffleboard and horseshoes.

Additional charges:
$150 cleaning fee
$500 refundable security deposit.
Hawaii taxes collected at time of payment in full:
9.25% Transient Accommodation Tax and 4.16% General Excise Tax
Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay (or made within 30 days of your arrival date) forfeit the full advance payment and damage/reservation deposit. Neither canceling nor departing early warrants any refund (of rent or deposit.)
The entire building is non-smoking. Evidence of smoke means a $1000 surcharge, plus charges levied by Papakea management.
No pets, and you have to take off your shoes before entering the condo. (Sand gets everywhere.)
There's no air conditioner, not that you'll need one. There are fans in every room.
Our unit is in oceanfront building L.
**The Papakea Resort is undergoing a 3-year exterior renovation project. Improvements include replacing lanai railings and floors, applying a waterproof sealant, spalling repairs and repainting the exterior. Work hours are Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm.**

This condo is a definite must stay! The photos do not capture the real beauty and comfort of this property. The unit is fully updated, immaculately clean with a nice kitchen that has all the little extras (mixer, waffle maker, toaster, coffee maker, beautiful All Clad pots & pans) as well as the updated bathrooms are nice. The owners also adds little touches such as books, beach towels, chairs, coolers, snorkel gear etc for the guests use. It make you feel right at home. There is no need for AC as there is a lovely breeze that cools the condo. The property itself is clean, with 2 pools, manicured lawns, koi pond and with this unit being ocean front there is not much more you need. The beach in front of the property is not large but if you walk about 5 min there is a sandy beach perfect for lying out on. There is a farmers market, supermarket and many amenities within walking distance and Lahaina is only about 10-15 min by car. The owner was extremely helpful and the process of booking was simple. We would definitely stay at this property again. Our only complaint is that we were not able to stay longer!

We were lucky enough to get to stay at this unit. Our hosts made sure the place was stocked. The unit is gorgeous and what a view. To sit and have breakfast on the lanai and listen to the ocean. We saw whales from the lanai, the sun setting, gorgeous rainbows... You name it. Scale of 1 to 10 it's an 11. Across the street from the market and we walked to beaches and parks. We can't wait to go back! Thank you thank you for sharing your home with us.

This condo was perfectly comfortable with STUNNING views. The Papakea resort was perfect for our family, nice Kaanapali location and close to Lahaina and several other resorts where we enjoyed shopping and restaurants (our favorite was Dukes, we could walk there from the condo via the beach). We could also walk to coffee and the farmer's market which we did daily. The Papakea grounds were lovely, clean and the pool was very nice too. All in all this vacation exceeded our expectations - thank you!

We have stayed all over Maui and this is the best place to be! If you love beachfront with all the amenities, this is where you want to stay. Papakea is a great resort, 2 pools, hot tubs, beautiful grounds with koi ponds. Walking distance across the street is the grocery store and restaurants. This unit is great. It has everything you could ever need. It is updated with great appliances, all the cookiing stuff you would need. Snorkel gear, all the beach stuff, there was NOTHING this unit didn't have. You won't be sorry, and I know you will want to come back again. We will!! Mahalo for sharing your home with us.

This was our second stay at this wonderful unit It was very well maintained and clean. The view from the lanai and master bedroom was outstanding. The location was in good proximity to Whaler's Village, shopping and golf courses. We would definitely come back again.

We just got back from a week-long trip to Maui. What a great place for a vacation. We LOVED the location and the condo was clean, spacious, and lovely- perfect for our family. It was so nice to sleep with the sound of the ocean, and to wake up to that fabulous view. Thank you for the wonderful accomodations!

This was a lovely condo. When they say oceanfront, they really mean oceanfront. You are literally almost out on the ocean from the lanai, just the beach below and then the water. Even the people at the $1000 a night places down on Kaanapali are not this close to the ocean, I noticed. Fourth floor, so you get a great view. Also, they are being modest with the 2 bedrooms, you also have a loft which has a murphy bed and is usuable as a bedroom for kids or what have you - that's like 3 bedrooms. The living room couch would give you a 4th sleeping area, but we didn't use that. The sunsets off the lanai were so good that we would come home for that, that was better than any destination you can drive too. Just sit on that lanai, listen to the ocean, watch the stragglers playing in the water far below - what's the point of going out anywhere? The kitchen was high quality, high-end appliances and features. A nice stay in a nice place.

I had some reservations about renting a condo that I had never seen before but they all melted away as soon as we stepped in the door. This place is heavenly!! Perfectly clean and fresh with beautiful furnishings and appliances. Everything is custom made and gorgeous. You will not be disappointed in this condo! We cooked a lot in the modern kitchen and never were lacking in equipment. There is a Farmer's Market down the street where you can pick up some fresh local produce and enjoy your own home-cooked Hawaiian meals. And the view is AMAZING! From almost anywhere in the house you can gaze out onto the clear ocean with palm trees swaying a few feet away from you and the island of Molokai in the distance....it's magical. Thank you so much for making this the vacation of a lifetime. Your condo is absolutely lovely and I look forward to visiting again sometime soon. Mahalo nui loa!! Karen

We just recently returned from a fantastic family vacation at this beautiful Papakea condo. We were so impressed with the condo and Papakea. Unit L405 was so well stocked with all of the comforts of home and was so modern in every room. The view from the Lanai and master bedroom of the beach and neighboring islands was great. We had every meal on the Lanai and our little boys loved watching the waves and the whales that were putting on quite the show. We hope to get back to L405 again!!!

We just returned from a week stay at this fabulous condo at Papakea. We have been guests at Papakea numerous times in the past and this unit by far is the nicest we have stayed in. It is absolutely gorgeous and the views from the lanai are spectacular. The condo is updated very nicely and being the unit is on the top floor the vaulted ceilings and loft area provide a very spacious feel. We had plenty of room for our family. Hopefully we will have the opportunity to stay at this lovely condo on our next trip to Maui.
