The Lookout, situated atop the ridge line of Sunrise Mountain, offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the valley of Spring Creek, North Carolina. The wrap-around deck and numerous windows offer countless vantage points of the scenery. The sunrise over Duckett Top can be especially spectacular. The Duckett Top Fire Tower, no longer in service but part of the design inspiration for our cabin, can be seen from the deck 3 miles due east. Adirondack chairs, hammock chairs, and a swing offer plenty of opportunities to relax and enjoy the scenery.
Being so far from the city offers plenty of opportunities to see the wildlife and breathe the crisp mountain air. Common visitors include wild turkey, deer, coyote, bobcat, and fox. If you're lucky, you might see a bear or mountain lion.
Stargazing with the Dobsonian telescope on a clear night can also be spectacular since the glow of city lights is miles away.
The continually evolving gardens offer a wide selection of organic berries, vegetables, and herbs for that perfect meal. Also on the grounds is a custom built fire pit with a large flagstone surround and the standard fare of mountain perennial flowers.
