We stayed in the house during the second weekend of Jazz Fest. From the beginning, the reservation was handled promptly and professionally with Patrick, including check-in procedures. We had 5 adults and our 18-month old staying together, however we were all coming into NO at different times. Josh, the property manager, was very accomodating in allowing early arrivals to drop off their luggage at the house before check-in so they could wander around the city without luggage. The house was ideal for us and described perfecftly. As mentioned in a prior review, it does seem as though the pictures make the home appear newer than it actually is, but this wasn't a problem. But note: the front of the house is orange, not grey! The kitchen was stocked with all necessary appliances and we had plenty of towels, blankets, etc. We used a grocery delivery service to stock with basic necessities, which worked out well. The only negatives we could think of is that it could use a very thorough cleaning, perhaps during a time when there are a few days in between visitors- it was certainly clean enough to stay in, however under beds, top of fridge, bathrooms could use a good scrub. Also, the beds were very bouncy, which seemed to be due to the flimsy frames, not the mattresses, but again, not terrible. I only mention these issues because they'd be easy to improve, not because they were serious issues. MOST IMPORTANTLY... this house was a great location for walking to Jazz Fest. It took us until day 3 to figure this out, as we were walking to the Steamboat Natchez to catch the Grayline shuttle bus each day, which was about a 1.5 mile walk. We mapped out how far the fairgrounds were and decided to give it a try and wished we had done it each day! It's about 1.5 miles up Esplanade and a very nice, safe walk (and saved $18/day per person on the bus!). We also walked to Frenchman St several times, which took just a few minutes and also across the French Quarter. The house may not be the best choice if you want to hang on Bourbon each night or near Canal, but it's absolutely walkable. We discovered many new areas of NO that we wouldn't have otherwise seen if we had stayed elsewhere. Overall, we highly recommend this home to anyone, especially for Jazz Fest! Loved Iggy's down the block and also La Peniche for breakfast. We are thankful that you opened your home to us and will certainly stay with you again in the future- it is our new home away from home in New Orleans!

This was advertised as being only steps away from the Quarter. It is one of the last streets at the end of the quarter and we found that we were walking blocks to get anywhere! No cabs in that area either and tooks hours to get one to come. House was okay, but very noisy and thwew tenant downstairs practices his band there. I have stayed in NO several times and was very disappointed in the location! Also most of the lights upstairs didn't even work and not all that clean. I would not recommend this property or ever stay there again.
Owner response:Please be aware this guest left our house completely trashed and it took our cleaning crew the good part of the day to restore the house to rentable condition. Also, the guest came in the middle of the festival season, the week between French Quarter Festival and the begining of Jazz Festival, which brings many people and musicians to the city. They also bring their instruments, which at times they do play, so that could be an explanation for the noise. As for the location, please read others reviews posted below, as the house is only a 5 minute walk (at most) to the heart of the French Quarter. My property manager checked every light in the house and did find one light bulb out on the bathroom vanity which has been replaced, however, every other light is working properly. I guess this guest doesn't know that the switch on the wall has to be turned to the "on" position for the lights to work.

We stayed there for 3 days with our two children. The neighborhood is pleasant and quiet and the house is very well located to visit New Orleans' French Quarter : Far from the noise and 10 minutes walking to the main interesting spots. The overall cleaness is very good, the kitchen is very convenient and the decoration is nice. The house is perfect for a family with teenagers or for two couples traveling together because it has two rooms very well separated and two bathrooms. The bathroom located in the second floor is a little bit decrepit but it is clean and functionnal. I recommend this location !

I fell in love with this house online. In reality, it's a bit more rustic than the photos indicate; however, it still has a certain charm one can only find in these old NOLA houses. Loved the bathrooms and back porch. We did not bring our dogs, but I really appreciate the fact that the owners allow pets! House manager Josh is really nice and helpful. The location is good and safe for walking almost anywhere in the Quarter. A few suggestions for the house: the kitchen needs a cutting board (lemons and limes for drinks!), and the downstairs bedroom needs a clothes bar in the closet. Our linens were really bare bones and seem like they could be upgraded a bit, too. If you're staying here on a weekend, do not miss the house made bacon bloody marys at Bar Tonique, in the 800 block of N. Rampart- just across from the park. An easy walk for the best bloody mary you'll ever have!

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. So comfortable, quiet and spaceous. Both couples had plenty of room to themselves, but with common areas that are important. Just two items we could have used more of - toilet tissue and light bulbs. These were missing with no nearby place to replenish.

I have stayed in several VRBO properties, and this one has been my least favorite. I have stayed in other places in the Marigny, and this one did not meet my expectations as I hoped it would. My family and I stayed here recently and while the house was spacious and had room for everyone, I have to give it an average rating due to a few things that I thought could have been better. The linens felt old and worn on both beds, and very stiff and uncomfortable on the pull out. The towels could have been a better quality, very old and worn also, and rough. The house was not very clean in my opinion, it looked like it needed a good cleaning before guests. There is no where to hang you clothing in the downstairs bedroom, and although I found an ironing board downstairs, I did not find the iron until a couple of days later, UPstairs in another closet. There were 3 TVs in the house, and only batteries in one of the remotes... and although we weren't there to watch TV, it would have been nice if they all worked. There was not enough toilet paper, and no soap unless you count the soap dispensers refilled with water. There were wet towels left in the washer that were starting to smell, not sure how long they were there. They might want to consider someone to clean up the yard also. I think for the rental price there has to be something better out there, although it was very spacious and in a good location, very close to everywhere we needed to be.
Owner response:Unfortunately, this party started off on the wrong foot and it continued throughout their stay. They arrived at the airport without the address of the house, instructions on how to gain access to the property or the property managers phone number. When I didn't immediately respond to their call, they were upset that I wasn't on-call for their every need. Although, the property manager was able to drop everything and meet them upon their call. As we state in all rental contracts, initial paper towels, toilet paper and soap is provided, everything above that is the responsibility of the guest. It's unfortunate that the party didn't feel the house was cleaned to their standards and we've notified our cleaning service so this won't happen in the future.

This was a perfect location. Most everything you want to do is within walking distance. Owners where very easy to work with, quick response on any questions. I'd suggest maybe using a different cleaning crew, wasn't bad but I'd just suggest looking into someone who will clean it better. I'm sure you as the owners would not know this since your not close to your rental. For what your paying I'm sure you'd expect them to do a better job. Over all we had a great time and would certianlly stay again, thank you Patrick for allowing us to stay in your home.

The house is very spacious & wonderfully decorated. We loved the large porch and palm trees. The fenced in yard gave our children somewhere to run around and play. The only cons were the floors were not cleaned very well -our feet turned black from walking around barefoot & there was a small water leak at the beginning of the outside entryway that caused a smell. Other than those two things- great house, great location, and very spacious!

We rented this during a conference for two couples, so that non-conferencing spouses could have a good time too. The neighborhood is perfectly situated for getting around town, and much quieter than the quarter. Great access for urban bicyclists (and a 5 minute walk from Michael's Bikes which has rentals)....we rode to Uptown and to Mid City comfortably. The house itself: very comfortable, roomy, and has great communal space while providing privacy for couples (bedrooms are at opposite ends of house). (Note on arriving that the front of the house has been painted: it's now orange.)

My husband and I rented this from Seattle having no idea about the neighborhood and never having seen the house. A couple of our friends met us for a few days and stayed with us here and it was such a pleasant surprise to be in this great neighborhood close to the quarter. The house is so nice, we didn't want to end our vacation. The rooms are, well, very roomy and the backyard is so sweet with the screened in porch. The owners made it really easy to rent and the transactions were simple. We are planning to stay here again next year.

I wanted to send you a quick message to say that we had a wonderful time staying at your property. The house worked out great and met all of our expectations. New Orleans is a wonderful town and unfortunatly we only had 4 days to experience it. The home is really located in a truely eclectic neighborhood, that added a lot to our trip. Iggy's was a great starting and ending point for our evenings/mornings. One great part of this location was the ability to walk to just about any where. Frenchman St. was just about 5 mins away by foot, and Bourbon was about 10. We will keep your property in mind the next time we travel that way again!

Really liked that this was away from Bourbon St. and the noise associated with it. Very close to Frenchman’s Street which I would consider to be the better area to be in. Really appreciated the neighbourhood feel. Local quality restaurants and pubs all close by. House is set up in two distinct areas so you’re not tripping over your other guests. I would definitely recommend this place to others.

We (5 adults) rented this home over the weekend of 8/20-8/22/2010. I can't say enough about how easy and enjoyable the experience and communication with both the owner of the home and the property manager turned out. Any questions I had were answered promptly and professionally. Communication with the owner was excellent before we arrived and communication with the property manager once we were there was again, 5 stars. The home is beautiful and has tons of space. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go so location is spot on for food, nightlife, and music. I would highly recommend staying here if it is available. You will NOT be disappointed. Thank you Patrick (owner) and Josh (property manager) for everything. Our next trip to NOLA will be based around the availability of your beautiful home.

We rented this lovely New Orleans home for the Red Dress Run weekend. It was just the two of us, but we love our space. The house had everything we could have imagined to make our stay enjoyable. Great location to nightlife, yet far enough away for peace and quiet. The home is very private which contributed greatly to our comfy, relaxed stay. The bedrooms are nicely decorated and very large. The upstairs living area is perfect for entertaining or just a night of lounging. Then there is the kitchen - the photos do not do it justice! It was equipped with everything we could have needed. We enjoyed sitting on the porch drinking coffee each morning in total privacy. If you are looking for a quality place to stay while visiting New Orleans, this is the place! We certainly will schedule to stay here again.

Great location, easy walk to everything. Stayed with my family 2 adults and 2 teenagers - they took over the upstairs and had room to themselves. Very clean inside but outside could do with a bit of clean up especially the side path which didn't have a very pleasant smell about it when you walked in. Overall we had a great time in NOLA and would definately return.

Rented this house for my b-day. It was my first time to New Orleans and I wasn't sure what to expect. The first thing I want to clarify is that this house is not located in a bad neighborhood, like in any city you need to be aware of your surroundings and travel in a group. The house was comfortable and a close enough walk to Bourbon Street. We sometimes stopped at the local pub called Iggy's, the locals were very friendly and even wished us a safe trip back home. The only thing that might need approvement is the yard, perhaps just a little more up keeping. Other than that....we would stay here again. Whittier, California

I traveled with a group of 5 guys down to New Orleans to participate for Habitat for Humanity and stayed at this wonderful property. Pat and Holly were extremely accessible and available for any questions about the property. The house was AMAZING. The pictures do this property no justice. The house was three times the size we were anticipating and it accommodated us perfectly. We cooked every morning and had every utensil we needed. Having to wait for showers would have been an issue with one bathroom but since there were two, both with showers (one had two heads)so it was perfect. The house location was perfect, it allowed us to walk to every attraction we wanted to see in New Orleans. There are some surrounding areas that are not too pleasant but as long as you know not to wander in the wrong direction you will be more than alright. The property is two blocks from Iggys as someone else has commented is one of the best local bars in New Orleans. We had a wonderful stay and were blown away by the house. I would definitely stay here again in the future and I would recommend it to anyone visiting New Orleans.

A short walk to Frenchman, a short walk to Bourbon, and a very short walk to Iggy's, the most welcoming bar in NOLA! Thanks!
