We came for the weekend for my daughter's 16th birthday and my birthday. As a family of 4, we had lots of room in this great apartment. It is a wonderful neighborhood. We would stay here again!! This is so much better than staying in a hotel. We would HIGHLY recommend this fantastic apartment.

We went to New York for our annual trip around the holidays.....4 adults, 2 kids. We usually stay in a hotel, but wanted more family time in a comfortable setting. This was the best trip yet! The apartment was very spacious for New York, Very clean, Great location, and Linda couldn't be easier to deal with! I will definitely be staying here again!!!! The four of us (two married couples, long-time travel-mates) thoroughly enjoyed this apartment as our home-base in NYC (Nov 29 - Dec 6). The two-level configuration was ideal for us (one BR upstairs; one downstairs). With one minor caveat, we would highly recommend renting this apartment to other couples and families. HOSPITALITY: Linda & Steve were extraordinarily gracious before and during our stay. Always cheerfully helpful and accessible. Linda met us at the apartment when we arrived and shared tips about the neighborhood and getting around the city. SECURITY: At all times we felt very secure about the apartment, building, and neighborhood. It was reassuring to see many families with young children walking in the neighborhood, as well as neighbors walking their dogs. The whole area felt very friendly and comfortable. ACCESSIBILITY: We relied heavily on the subway to get around the city (recommendation: buy the Metro Card early. It is a bargain for using the subways and buses). This is the only downside to the apartment: the nearest subway stations are about 9 blocks away. No problem in the mornings, but a long haul at the end of a day spent walking around NYC. Nonetheless, there are convenient bus stops at the end of the block. Taxis are as plentiful as the lights in Times Square. COMFORT: The apartment was very well furnished and equipped. Beds were comfortable. Having a washer and dryer in the basement was very convenient and much appreciated. The courtyard is lovely and we would have used it had the weather not been as cold as a mother-in-law's glare. We were seduced by the charm of the resident cats in the courtyard. Overall, we loved our time in this apartment and will return (hoping that new subway line on 2nd Ave is finished and operational soon).

We traveled to NYC for the Macys parade and to take in the sights on NYC. WE were a family of 6...2 elderly grandparents and a 9 and 12 year old child, along with ourselves. We arrived at the apartment with all the communication and information necessary to ensure our check in was seamless. The apartment was fully stocked with necessary home items including towels sheets, pots,pans etc. It was spotless and set up very effeciently. Our girls loved playing with the 3 cats on the patio and made a special trip to the animal treat store around the corner toget special treats/toys for the kitties. The neighborhood was quiet and had everything we needed within a 2 block radius, including Schwarts park which was amazing! we ordered takeout several times and ventured to Gracies for breakfast(EXCELLENT FOOD AND SERVICE!) and for Thanksgiving dinner we dined at an italalian restaurant 2 blocks form the apartment that literally rolled out the red carpet for us, the food was amazing, great value, and service was top notch. We took cabs to venture to times square etc, most cab rides were less than $10.00 which was incredicbly reasonable and cabs were easily accessible from York. We look forward to our next NYC trip and will be staying in this apartment again, it was perfect. Linda did an amazing job of communicating with us and making recommendations and having all of our requests met(early check in and late checkout) Could not have had a better time in out NYC home!!!

Loved the apartment. My wife and I and another couple rented the apartment for a long weekend. It is a bit of a walk from the subways ... but still very manageable. So close to Central Park and Gracie Park so running, walking, or just exploring the neighborhood was wonderful. The apt. was clean, comfortable, and safe. It has a nice outdoor space (a treat for NY). The owner, Linda, was super to work with. One of the smoothest VRBO experiences I've ever had. Will definitely rent there again.

We, a party of 5 adults (man and wife, sister, cousins) really enjoyed this very pleasant apartment. The description and the photos were accurate. In spite of our late arrival -around 10 p.m., even later than planned- Steve was there to welcome warmly and give us quite a lot of information. The folder with addresses as well as the maps and guide books were very useful. The subway station is a bit far (a quarter of an hour’s walk) but there are buses quite near. The neighborhood is safe, which we appreciated as we happened to have problems in the past in big cities. And, icing on the cake, the security deposit was sent so promptly that we found it when we got home

hurricane visit

We had the bad luck of visiting New York during the recent hurricane and we were SO glad to be in this apartment. We thought it would just be a place to sleep and that we would be out and about all day, but with everything closed, we ended up spending a lot of time there. It is a lovely apartment, exactly as described in the pictures.My three daughters kept busy with the board games, books, and outdoor area.There was plenty to do and it was very comfortable. The location was great.It was very private and close to a beautiful park, the river, and many restaurants and stores. We would definitely come back to the apartment again.

My family enjoyed our stay in this very nice apartment. Linda, the owner, was very flexible on our arrival and departure times which was a big help as we were traveling with a toddler. The apartment also had available some toys and a pack-n-play which came in handy. The neighborhood is quiet and many amenities are within walking distance including a park with playground two blocks away on the East River. We enjoyed the ease of grocery shopping and a variety of restaurants nearby.

We - a family with 4 teenagers- altogether 6 people had a wonderful time in the spacious flat on two storeys on the Upper East Side.Only the staircase is not made for very small children( narrow and steap).The description and the photos of the location were absolutely accurate.We had a very warm welcome and could ask any question. Foodshopping was just around the corner and with the buses or the Subway nearby you could get anywhere within a fairly short time.(Get a Metroticket right away!!) The apartment was clean and everything was well organised. We didn`t miss anything! And on top the neiborghhood is safe. I think we could very warmly recommend this flat to families or other touristgroups.

Four of us stayed at the property for two weeks in June, 2011. We all had a wonderful time, both in the apartment and in the city. The apartment was as advertised, and the photos were an accurate representation. It was very clean and well stocked with basic supplies. Linda and Steve were very friendly and accomodating. Steve met us at the apartment, and spent a good 20 minutes or more showing us all the features of the place, including recommendations for neighborhood stores, restaurants, etc. They also had a notebook listing all sorts of useful information, as well as maps, guidebooks, and other resources to make our stay more pleasurable. Although this location was several blocks from a subway station, there were several bus stops within a few blocks covering most of the city. as well as connections with the subway. The apartment worked especially well for two couples with bedroom, bathroom and living spaces on each of the two floors. We plan on returning to this apartment on our next visit to New York.

Wow! What a space!!

Can't say enough good things about this apartment. Roomy, accommodating, eclectically decorated, with a great multi-level back yard, this was the perfect place to host our little family reunion and party for my college graduate son. The house is fully-equipped with appliances, dishes, linens, towels...everything to make it feel like home. The kitchen is small but workable, the referigerator full-size! The BBQ grills out in the backyard came in handy to keep food warm during the party, and the tables and chairs (and stone walls) were great places to sit and talk. The place comfortably slept 8 when the family was all in town; parking on the street isn't terribly difficult on the weekends. The owners have put together a comprehensive "info" book, with everything you need to know about the household and the surrounding 'hood. This part of the Upper East Side is nice, neighborhoody and quiet, and I couldn't think of a nicer place for a good-sized group of older friends to rent for a great NYC visit. Speaking of the owners, they were easy to deal with and quite responsive, returning the security deposit promptly. This is a bargain of a place for travelers wanting a great base from which to explore the city, and a superb urban retreat to return to afterwards!

We stayed with my two teenagers and parents for 4 nights over spring school vacation week. We arrived a bit early and Linda had made arrangements with us to allow us to drop our stuff off early even though the cleaners were still there which was so helpful. The place is beautiful--it easily accomodated us all. There are wonderful restaurants nearby and great deli's. Linda was very receptive to our e-mails in the weeks and days leading up to our stay which gave us piece of mind. The photos shown on the website are very accurate. We will definately consider staying again.

Perfect for our needs

Stayed with 1 couple and two singles in late March. Very comfortable. Owners were very communicative and accomodating. 2 levels. Top level is where entrance is and has a BR, full Bath, small kitchen and living area with a pull out sofa. Spiral staircase takes you down to 2nd level where there's a full Bath, futon, tv living area and queen size bed with curtain separator. Also door to very cool, shared "backyard". Very quiet neighborhood and whatever you need close by. It is a 15 minute walk to the nearest Subway, but it's not laborious at all. Cabs are also a block away. We took the train in, but noticed a parking garage within a block that was very reasonable. May drive in next time. Will definitely consider staying here again in the future. Sure beats a hotel room in Times Square!

I along with 5 of my sisters and sister-in-laws recently visited my daughter in New York City. As she lives in the UES we also wanted a place near her. My daughter was the one responsible for finding a space for us to stay, and it turns out, my daughter's friend recommended this place as she had just stayed there months prior. It truly was more than we could have asked for: great location, beautiful view of the East River from the promenade (literally one 1 block away), tasteful, relaxing, and cool space for six women spanning the ages of 34 - 51. My family and I definitely give this place the highest marks!

Safe location and comfortable family environment

We enjoyed two weeks in this safe and family friendly environment. The local area is filled with everything you'll need, with Restaurants, Shops and transport services. We also experienced a White Christmas...well there was a blizzard on Boxing Day and the snow was about 2 foot deep. The local community and local shop owners were friendly and helpful. The appartment was very warm and the views to the courtyard was made more interesting with the snow falling and the local cats, squirrels and birds hopping around. The appartment is very comfortable and has everything you need. The upstairs and downstairs arrangement was great for our young adults so they could relax and the adults could relax in the upstairs lounge area. The heating system is very good and maybe a bit too hot. But the heating was very welcomed when we arrived in from the snow. The beds were comfortable and the lounge areas were a nice place to relax after a busy day sightseeing or shopping. The kitchen is particularly small but functional and the full size fridge was needed for all our supplies and for our Christmas luncheon. The welcome book was useful as was the Menu folder for the local restaurants and delivery services. The laundry and drying systems worked well and saved us alot of hassels. All our questions were promptly and accurately handled and Linda is an excellent owner. Shane was also very prompt in helping us out whne we arrived and when we had a few minor questions about the operation of a few appliances. All the booking, payment and deposit return arrangements went smoothly. The appartment was clean and well maintained and we found it to have everything we needed...all the cooking utensils in the world. I would happily recommend this property for a fun filled hideaway in a the city that never sleeps. Also I'm looking forward to returning to enjoy the hideaway.

Six family members rented the Bradys' apartment for a New York vacation. We loved the location and neighborhood setting. We were so glad to have rented an apartment instead of staying in a hotel. Perfect Apartment

This apartment has lots of positive reviews and it is easy to see why - everything is exactly as described although the description can't capture the lovely atmosphere. We felt as if we were experiencing real New York living rather than an impersonal holiday apartment. Our party included a teenager and a grandmother and the location was perfect for both, with everything near to hand that you could possibly want. As others have said it felt totally safe and was also incredibly quiet for a city. The very warm welcome from brother-in-law Shane also set the tone for a lovely holiday. Good things to see and do are all in the folder in the apartment. My personal favourite was a daily trip to Agatha and Valentina on 79th and 1st, the most fantastic food store where you could see fish being filleted, pasta rolled , cakes decorated etc and buy absolutely anything that you could possibly want. Not a bargain store but a lovely treat when on holiday! We would certainly love to return to this apartment.

With 6 grown-ups we enjoyed staying in the apartment of The Bradys, The welcome was great, the brother-in-law of Linda was waiting for us and told us everything we had to know about the appartment and the neighborhood. The apartment was comfortable and cosy and especially the garden was great. The neighborhood feld safe and it was not so crowdy and noisy. We loved to stay in here and will return some day....

We are group of 6 girls and we stayed for 5 days at the end of August-the apartment was PERFECT. Great space, lovely furnishings, plenty of nice towels, wardrobe space etc, and great large outdoor area. We couldn't have asked for anything more. The area felt very safe, and we had no worries about returning late at night. There were plenty of local amenities just a block or two away including grocery store, liquor store, and fantastic bagel place. We walked to Central park every morning which took about 15/20 mins at the most, and the subway was closer. We would all recommend this place in a heartbeat and we will be back!

Five of us recently spent 5 days at this property. We never felt crowded. The location is excellent. Many nice restaurants, & places to shop. After a long day in the city, it was great to come back to the apt and look out of the window and see window sill plants and the garden. Only negative thing was that it was warm in the downstair sleeping area. I would definitely recommend this as a good place to stay.

Owner response:We have a powerful new air conditioner, new ceiling fan and two floor fans to use depending on your comfort preferences. Also please note it was mid August during a very tiresome heat wave.

great journey in NYC

We really did enjoy our stay at Linda's flat. We were a family of 6 with teenagers and they appreciated the flat as we did. we had enough room for the whole family. The description matched perfectly with the one on the website. We highly recommend the place. Just make sure you like walking because the flat is a bit far from the nearest subway station. Our youngest one (6 years old) found it hard to walk all the way back after a long day spent in the Big Apple.

Owner response:We're a 15 minute walk to the subway. If you prefer transportation modes other than foot power there is a crosstown bus 4 short blocks (5 minute walk) from our apartment that drops you off at the subway. Or to get downtown instead of the subway there is a downtown bus that picks you up directly on the corner from our apartment and taxis that can drop you off virtually anywhere. We'd also recommend using strollers for young children around the city.

Great place for girls get-a -way

My friends and I stayed here for our first time in New York, and it was perfect. There were six of us total and we never felt cramped or uncomfortable like we would had if staying in a hotel. The bathrooms were on the small side, but I think we would find that anywhere we stayed in Manhattan. We walked to the end of the block and found everything we needed, from wine, good food, to a grocery store. No problem catching a cab either, like we had been warned. Maybe because we were far enough away from Time square people were not lined up on the sidewalk waiting for them. We had read where the stairs going downstairs in the apartment were tight, we had no problem with them, but I could see where one could if they were older. The check in could not have been easier. After arriving, the neighbor (owner's brother-in-law) unlocked it for us, showed us around, and answered all our questions. We even knocked on his door the next day to find a good pizza place we could walk to. We will most definitely stay here again if we return.

Un appart en Duplex très bien entretenu, propre , literie de qualité, linge de maison impeccable. Sanitaires impeccables. Nous étions 7 : 4 adultes et 3 ados . Appart très fonctionnel avec nombreux rangements. Des propriétaires très sympathiques et très disponibles à toutes nos requêtes. Correspondance facile . Transaction financière sure. Appart placé proche des commerces et des transports en commun . Rue et appartement calme dans quartier résidentiel. A réserver sans hésitations si vous voulez être au calme après une journée de visites bien remplie.

The owners were very likable and available for all our requests. Also easy correspondence in regards to financial transactions. Dear Brady Family,We had a wonderful time as did our friends from New Haven. The weather was perfect. We did a walking/food tour of "The Village", walked across the Brooklyn Br., saw "Billy Elliot - The Musical" (had drinks at Sardi's before the 2 PM show), and "ate our way" through Mike Colameco's "Food Lover's Guide to NYC"(this guy knows what he's talking about!!). This apartment was wonderful! I stayed with a group of five adults and we had plenty of room. We loved the backyard/patio area, and even though it was winter we took advantage of it! The location was perfect and close to everywhere we needed to go. I spent 8 days in this apartment while a family member was in Sloan Kettering. It is an easy 14 block walk to the Hospital. During my visit I had friends and family come to stay. We had 6 adults one night and never felt cramped, which is saying a lot for Manhattan. The neighborhood is extremely quiet and safe. Never had any concern walking around, day or night. Everything needed is close by, groceries, restaurants etc. This unit also has access to the basement through the lower level. The laundry facilities are steps away. Another nice bonus were the three cats that share time between the residents and live in the backyard patio area. They were great to come home to! Linda made everything extremely easy and I would definitely choose this space again if my travels take me back to the Upper East Side.

This appartment was ideal for our stay at Christmas. It was warm, comfortable and stylish - it was just as described. The area was brilliant: 15min walk to subway, loads of restaurants/shops and the area was typically 'New York' yet it was very quiet. We came to New York in December to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday. There were four of us and we needed to find a place that was welcoming and comfortable enough for 4 people. My family came visit me from Florida during Thanksgiving and I needed to find a place for them that was welcoming and comfortable enough for 5 people. This apartment was AMAZING! My girlfriend and I had a great stay at this Yorkville apartment and would highly recommend it for anyone visiting Manhattan who wants a true city experience without being caught up in the tourist fray of midtown. The apartment was very spacious and comfortable with an added bonus: a hidden treasure of a backyard along with three friendly cats (perfect for animal lovers missing their own creatures). The location provided easy access to both subway and bus lines; as well as walking distance to a movie theater, shopping and Central Park. And, importantly, a bagel shop was just a few blocks away, as well as a wonderful diner (Gracie Mews) and a fabulous local Italian restaurant with incredible food and a spectacular wine list (Antonucci on 81st). We would definitely stay here again.

After a full day of shopping and sightseeing it was so great to come back to this peaceful apartment and relax with a glass of wine in the backyard. Being able to experience a quiet neighborhood away from the noise and hustle of Manhattan was wonderful.This was a perfect getaway for us. Hope to come back next year.

This cozy apartment was perfect for my family with a great location and the most accomodating owners. It is walking distance to Central park and closer to the Downtown Subway(4,5&6) so we were able to get everywhere in NYC we wanted easily and quickly even on Halloween. We highly recommend staying here when you visit NYC.

We had 4 adults and 4 kids (ranging in ages from 7 to 10) staying in this apartment. I don't think we would have survived with the kids being stuck in a hotel all week long. The kids loved playing in the backyard, which was 10 x's bigger than we expected. The hammock was also great after a long day of walking. The apartment was perfect with the adults sleeping in the beds and the kids sleeping in the pullout couches. The apartment had free wireless internet, 2 T.V.'s with DVD players, washer/dryer, a coffee maker, stove, 2 toasters, microwave, big refrigerator, oven, and a blender and shaker to make mixed drinks after a long day with the kids. There were several restaurants, grocery stores, and donut/bagel shops within a few blocks. We saved a lot of money buying groceries and drinks along with the money we saved with not having to stay in multiple hotel rooms. The only drawback is that it takes about 30 to 60 minutes to get to most downtown sites. However, it was a treat to have a nice and relaxing place to go back home to after long days. The owners were easy to deal with and I would definitely recommend this apartment for those who are thinking about visiting NYC. VRBO is the way to go!

My husband and I rented this apartment along with two other couples in May. There was plenty of room, especially compared to the average Manhattan hotel room. The value was exceptional. We were able to BBQ in the beautiful backyard along with the convenience of cooking in the small but well stocked kitchen. The apartment was well thought out and had everything we needed. The owners were wonderful and incredibly accommodating. And the neighborhood was fantastic with many stores, shops and restaurants; yet amazingly quiet. Hope to rent this apartment again!

What a fantastic apartment. Everything my wife and I were looking for. The backyard is truly a tranquil oasis where you can unwind with a drink or two :-) and get rejuvenated before heading back out into a fantastic vibrant city. I would recommend your property to everyone.

We had a wonderful NYC stay at this gem of an apartment! Our 3 sons had the downstairs and there was plenty of room and privacy for all of us. The outdoor space was a great bonus (the photos don't do it justice) and added to the peaceful and tasteful ambiance. The apartment owners were amazingly helpful and easy to deal with. The neighborhood can't be beat - off the beaten path yet close to so much that NYC has to offer. We absolutely loved staying here!

Myself and three of my friend rented this apartment for our visit to New York during the christmas period. We found the apartment clean, spacious and ideal for our stay. The cost for our stay was very reasonable and the apartment owners were very nice and helpful. The apartment is based in a very safe location of Manhattan and is close to the subway, many bars and restaurants. It's big, warm and cosey and we would recommend this apartment for a visit to New York. All and all we found the apartment perfect for our visit.
