  Beautiful rustic holiday cottage, with sunny deck, 1 minute from the beach and located in a secluded plot in the charming town of Manzanita. We found this property to be perfectly described, clean and well equipped. Beds were comfortable with nice soft sheets. Many towels provided. We cooked in the kitchen and found it to be well stocked. There was Wifi, TV, BBQ. Shared this cottage with another couple over labour day long weekend. The place was a perfect size for the four of us - although it could comfortably fit more either by sleeping 4 in the large open plan upstairs bedroom (perfect for a young family) or by utilizing the comfy sofa in the lounge. The property is south facing, and gets fantastic light. The deck was in sun virtually the entire day. We also had a dog with us, and the yard is fenced, and away from the road - so again, perfect for the dog. As mentioned in a previous review, we were able to hear music on the Friday night from the bar in town, but we really enjoyed this and found it enhanced our evening on the deck. The rest of the time, the place is really peaceful and quiet. In summary, a great little getaway, good price for the location, and look forward to going back.

  This vintage 100 year old cabin was just the beach weekend getaway that our family of four was seeking. The sleeping arrangements were great (teenagers upstairs with their own space and own 1/2 bath) and my husband on I on the main floor with a full bathroom. The kitchen was just the right size for beach cooking and the cozy sectional couch was perfect for reading and a bit of TV watching. The owner was so kind and easy to reach. The only thing to note was that the local pub during the summer has a live band almost every Friday and Saturday night. The music was good but it could be heard by all living within a one -two block radius until midnight when it immediately stops. We will be renting this home again though.

  Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, girls getaway.

  My husband and I stayed in both houses at "The Family Compound." The big house was great because it accommodated a large group, but ahhhh, the little house was a haven for us. If you are looking for posh, this is not it, but if you want location location location, light light light (even when its raining because its south facing!) and the quintessential Manzanita beach house, it's perfect. It's clean, the fireplace heats the whole place, the orange couch is perfect for reading and napping. The property feels private even though you are a minute away from the beach, grocery store, and cinnamon rolls at Bread & Ocean (a must Wed-Sun). It's funky enough to be comfortable, and nice enough to feel special.The owner was genuinely concerned with our comfort, easy to contact and installed WIFI while I was there- which I thought was very cool. Kitchen was stocked with cookware basics, master bed was comfortable. Great off street parking. I would recommend it to people who want to be close to town and the beach, but don't like tchotchkes, TV, or long baths (the bathroom is small and not necessarily sexy, but great water pressure). Like a couple who want to get outside and invite some friends out for a night- or a family with kids who need a little space of their own. We loved it.

  Very rustic cabin feel with musty smell. Not as fresh and clean as showing in pictures. Stained towels, sheets and dirty throw rugs. Blind in bathroom didn't close completely and rusty. Moldy shower curtain. Old type sink with seperate hot and cold. No plug to collect water in basin. No remote for TV. Garbage in kitchen can when we arrived. Good location but overpriced for non-ocean view.

  Owner response: The cabin is described as rustic and nearly 100 yrs. old and so I am surprised to hear this as a complaint. People either love or do not love old homes and so we want their expectations in line with the house. I spoke with the guest after she had spent the first of her two night stay and she did not mention any of these complaints except the remote. In fact, one of my maintenance guys went over that morning. In the check in instructions, I ask people to call me immediately, if anything is out of sorts so that I can get my local crew in to help. As an out of town owner, I have a local maintenance and cleaning crew who would have gone over to address all of her issues. For instance, I think she was using the dog towels not the new ones. I'm not sure that they could have replaced the remote, but we are getting a new television as well as a new blind for the bathroom. The home is priced competitively with other non-view homes with a great location that allow pets and have no minimum stay.
