Absolutely Perfect for 8-9 Male golfers

Guest: Leemer (Pickering ON Canada)
Date of Stay: 04/20/12 Review Submitted: 05/23/12

Bunch of golf nuts from Canada playing 36 holes for most days - Plenty of good golf courses that you don't have to pay the higher prices at Pinehurst - this is perfect for staying off that property and maybe only playing there occasionally. Totally Clean and the owner Scott is incredibly communicative, and accommodating - First thing we look for is separate beds (3 doubles, 2 queens and even a downstairs couch if you have a 9th or loud snorer) plus 3 showers are essential The backyard deck is a great spot to have a few drinks and watch a few go at the par 3 or putt on the previous hole. The Gas Barbecue was equipped with a brush and all the tools so that we cooked in a couple of nights Unlike Myrtle Beach, Alabama or Arizona - no drving - all the courses are within 15 minutes and they all rock - National, Legacy, Mid South, Dormie Club were fabulous - avoid Tobacco Road or Tothill farms - some hate vs. love go on there. The kitchen was clean - 2 large TV's to unwind to, and the pool table was a bonus and in great shape - definitely a home that is well looked after and shows pride of ownership We'll be back - a great spot to begin your golf season to

Owner response:I'm happy to hear your trip was a success! Thanks so much for taking the time to submit this review. Hope to see you back in Pinehurst next Spring!

Exceeded my very high hopes and expectations

Scott, The house was ideal for our needs, and the weekend exceeded my very high hopes and expectations. Thanks so much for assisting with the golf arrangements for Friday. Pinehurst #1 was a perfect starting point for us, and we heeded your advice and hit #3 that afternoon too. I could not possibly heap enough praise on the accommodations. We would highly recommend it groups similar to ours, and hope that we can pull off a repeat stay in the same locale in the future. Many thanks to you for helping us have such a celebratory, enjoyable and hassle-free reunion.

Scott, I want to thank you for an enjoyable weekend at your house in Pinehurst. It was a truly ideal location coupled with some great golf and even better weather. I will without a doubt refer you to friends who will be making a trip to the area in the future, and will keep you in mind when I make it back. We plan on making this trip a yearly event. Regards, JK

25th Wedding Anniversary Weekend

Guest: Leigh (Sanford, NC)
Date of Stay: 03/03/11 Review Submitted: 03/06/11

Scott: Thank you so much for providing the perfect setting for our 25th anniversary. The house layout was perfect for our guests. The screened in porch was my favorite place to relax. Whether it was in the morning sipping coffee or winding down at the end of an evening. The gazebo out front provided the perfect setting for our pictures that we took on Saturday evening. The welcome letter and treats were an extra special touch that was much appreciated. Thank you also for your willingness to make one of the twin rooms into a king bed room. That made the set up perfect to accommodate the couples. Thank you again for a wonderful weekend! Your place is absolutely gorgeous.

Pat, I was just wondering how your trip went? Many thanks and Happy New Year! -- Scott ***** I’m so glad you asked….sorry, we got home and hit the pavement running with the new year. I’ve attached a couple of photos of our fun memories. WE HAD A FABULOUS TIME, truly a Christmas we will all remember. The house was just what we needed – each family had their own space and with five little people three and under, periods of escape were needed. LOVED, LOVED the lower level which became a great play space for kids and adults both. The large dining room table allowed us all to gather together for meals and even gingerbread house competition. Our kids agreed that the house was perfect for us and made our Christmas a special time for all of us to be together. We would most definitely choose to stay at 3 Green Retreat in the future. Thanks, Scott. You were a delight to work with. Blessings, Pat

Guys Golf Trip

Guest: Bob (Northville, Michigan)
Date of Stay: 09/15/10 Review Submitted: 09/24/10

The property was perfect for a guys golf vacation for 5 days. Close proximity to everything in Pinehurst, comfortable, clean accomodations for eight, some used the hot tub after a long day of golf, some played pool in the basement, all enjoyed the 50in TV to watch Mich. State vs Notre Dame with a great finish. Everyone also enjoyed the screened in porch to relax, cool down and discuss the days games. We would highly recommend this property. It was well described in the listing, the house was clean and well maintained and we all enjoyed the location and ease of travel to the golf courses.

Three Green Retreat is perfect for a guys golf getaway

Guest: Magnus Ver Magnuson (Coral Springs, FL)
Date of Stay: 07/29/10 Review Submitted: 08/11/10

We had a great time at your house. The guys really enjoyed your house as well, the overall quality of the home, the location, the amenities (HDTV, outdoor speakers, pool table)… it was perfect for us. We could walk into the village to enjoy the pubs and restaurants. The house is on Pinehurst #3's 16th hole, a 182 yard par 3, so it was fun to watch some people play. Three Green Retreat was plenty big for 8 guys, we had everything we needed, and spent plenty of time on the back porch enjoying some cold beers while recapping the golf rounds. We barbecued one night and your kitchen came equipped with everything we needed – down to the grilling tongs and spatula. All we had to do was bring ourselves, fill the fridge with some food and beer, and you had everything else we could ask for. It was perfect. We’re already talking about a return trip in 2011 and we will most certainly want to come back to your house, only this time add an extra day or two (3 nights / 3 days was just too short).

Owner response:Thanks for the kind words. We do our best to try to think of everything our guests will need in order to enjoy their stay. Your last comment is one that we hear quite often from the groups staying for only 2-3 days. With so many great courses in the area, it's really hard to experience all of the flavors of Pinehurst golf in a couple of days. We look forward to your return!

Scott, The trip was great and everything in the house was fine. The restaurants we went to were Dugan's (twice), Vito's, and the Pinecrest Inn which was really enjoyable. As far as courses go I thought Little River was probably the best value (they gave us the local resident rate ($85) instead of the rack rate ($115)) but I really like Tobacco Road and Legacy. We played Deercroft and Longleaf which were fine for the money but not on the level of the other three. Thanks for everything. Henry

Hi Scott, I just wanted to say that the house was great as well as the weather! I got back a couple of hours ago and the weather is not nearly as warm as Pinehurst. The golf was great. We will certainly do it again next year and this house is certainly # 1 if we return to Pinehurst. Based on the feedback, we should be back. Thanks again, Rob

In sum, your house was wonderful and worked out perfectly for our group. While we all certainly could have doubled up, everyone enjoyed having their own space. Not surprisingly, we spent the bulk of our time either in the basement or out on the patio. Michael, the caddie that you recommended, was simply excellent. Our group was generally not burning up #2 when we played it (although, in fairness, we didn't struggle horribly either), but Michael seemed to enjoy our good-natured group. Michael was an excellent recommendation on your part, and I let him know that when the round was over. As for #2, we thought it was brilliant. I had fallen into a bit of a funk and wasn't playing especially well during the days before, and thus had mixed emotions about #2. However, once we teed off, what a fabulous experience it was. Absolutely no regrets, and I think the rest of my group felt the same way. One of my buddies shot 1-over on the front (so I will never hear the end of that), although the pendulum swung and he played far worse than normal on the back. So goes golf. We also very much enjoyed #4 - as we were told and expected, a beautiful course. We also played #3, although we weren't especially sharp in doing so. We generally had a great time in the Village - had some nice meals, saw some live music, and pretty much took over the karaoke experience at Doogan's on Thursday night. Our trip was a rousing success. Thanks very much for your the use of your house.

Hi Scott, Thanks, the weekend went great. Had a great time playing #8. Shot 87 which was OK since I haven’t golfed much the past 2 years. Luckily I dropped one in from about 70 feet on 18, otherwise flirting with 90. Fantastic course, best I’ve played. The weather cooperated, we only got some rain at night. Had some good meals at Ironwood and Magnolia Inn. The house was great, we loved the porch and it was easy to relax there. Loved the golf deco and my parents commented how it was a nice feel. No comments really, we were happy with everything. Thanks, Mark

To Scott, Our group had a great time during our trip to Pinehurst and especially enjoyed your Three Green Retreat. It was really nice and a great central location to the many sites to see especially in the village of Pinehurst (about 2 minutes away, if you hit the stop light wrong). First of all, the house was great. Nice layout, plenty of room and in good condition. Great porch/balcony off the back that is screened-in, with great views three holes on Course #3 (#15, #16, and #17) I believe it was. No problems. The guest guides were very helpful, in terms of taking care of trash, TV channels, dining suggestions, internet connections and so forth. Golf, groceries, dining and shopping are all within 5 - 10 minutes of the house. In terms of dining, we tried Vito's over in Southern Pines (which I believe was on your recommended listing) and it was great. Also, we took you up on the suggestion of the Pine Crest Inn. Very nice and quaint. Must go to the bar first then dinner. Very good meal with lots of character. We also enjoyed the Ryder Cup Lounge in the Carolina Hotel. Neat, neat hotel property with great old photos of its history. We also took in a little of the Pinehurst Clubhouse, some shopping in the Pro Shop, as well as the Donald Ross Grill and the veranda overlooking the 18th green on #2. Great, great way to spend an hour or two. Otherwise, had a great time. Thanks for the accommodations. You have a very nice place down there. Enjoy it! Ken Feaster St. Louis, MO

Hi Scott, The house was very nice and worked out great for our group. I think we will be back next year. The weather was a little warm, but we didn't really get caught in any rain. We all had a great time and the house worked out very well. Thanks and talk to you next year! Jim

Perfect! Superb Location, Tons of room, Beautifully Decorated, Everything you need including Pool Room and Bar - Normally when you rent a house on holiday you get a sanitised, renter proof bare minimum. This house is like a home from home, luxurious, beautifully maintained, very comfortable and really good value. Close enough to the center of Pinehurst to walk - Plenty of room and the Owner Scott is a pleasure to deal with. I will definitely be recommending this home to any of my friends and family who are visiting Pinehurst again in the future. Thanks for making our trip truly memorable.

One couldn't ask for a better location, either for a quiet retreat or a few rounds of golf. The house has everything you could ask for and more. Beautiful setting, comfortable surroundings, and just about every grown up toy one could want!
