The Mountain Pass Chalet is a large warm and inviting 2600 sq ft home located on the quiet southern side of Government Camp, Oregon on Mt. Hood at the the 4000 ft. level. We are a short 3 min. walk to the Ski Bowl East Lodge or to the core area of Government Camp where you will find grocery markets, restaurants, recreational shops, and of course that all important coffee shop.
Located within a 15-20 min drive is the Historic Timberline Lodge and the Mt. Hood Meadows ski resorts. Our large chalet has up to 3 spacious bedrooms (1 king in the master bedroom, 1 queen with two twins in the upper bedroom, 1 king in the main floor bedroom, plus the Optional Lower Floor 4th Bedroom Suite has 1 full), 3 baths, a large kitchen area with Jenn-air range and eating bar, a dining room with table and chairs to seat 8, a game room with Pool table and a large hot tub. We have off street parking with availability for 2-4 cars maximum.
We are in a quiet gated community at the 4,000 ft snow zone elevation of Mt Hood and just a 3 min. walk to the Ski Bowl East Lodge,which is the largest night skiing area in North America and offers snow tubing hills, horse sleigh rides, snowmobile rentals for winter and an activity park and mountain biking trails for summer. Snowshoeing and cross country skiing are both available right out of our chalet door into undeveloped land, some of which is on the old Oregon Trail. We are within minutes of many hiking and mountain biking trails, fishing, swimming, rafting, and of course lots of sight seeing. Let our chalet be your home base to all that Mt Hood and Government Camp have to offer no matter what the season. Great times and memories will be made staying at the Mountain Pass Chalet!
We do not allow Weddings, Receptions, or Parties (no loud music allowed, shouting, yelling or other activities that disturb the neighbors). This is a quiet, peaceful community.

Although we only came up from Portland,it was such a lovely getaway. After skiing all day up on the mountain,we enjoyed coming back to such a cozy,welcoming cabin. And we felt it was especially nice to have fresh, new snow every day - even during Spring Break. The kids love the hot tub - of course! The grownups liked it too - after the kids had gone to bed. This home gave us everything to have a great time. It as a lot of space so people can be together or off by themself, enough rooms and beds for everyone. It has a good amount of televisions and the pool table was a hit. It is close to downtown so you can walk to the restaurants and bars and just a short drive to go snow shoeing or skiing. The only two things that we didn't like with this house is no separate bathroom for the master bedroom and the hot tub is hard to get the cover on and off. The property is clean and well maintained and the owners are very helpful. I would recommend this property to a friend but warn them about the hot tub.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.
