ARTS WALK 2009:GRAND OPENING AT THE BASILICA INDUSTRIA FRIDAY OCTOBER 9th.
Arts Walk is very special weekend in Hudson. The Hudson River View accommodation looks out upon the Basilica Industria, an old forge dating back to the late 19th century. There are two major artists, Arthur Price and Earl Swanigan being featured at the Basilica, also a theater group and band will be performing. On the waterfront, two blocks from the Hudson River View there is a Riverfront Farmfest and Hudson Valley chili cook-off with activities for children, live music, farmer's market, craft and food vendors.
About 7 blocks from the Hudson River View, the Cannonball Factory will have an artists reception, and group exhibition, there will also be a dance performance.
On Warren Street, at Jason's Bar there will be a full schedule of live performances from 4PM to midnight.
There are many other events on this weekend, I highly recommend booking in, especially if great art, music and performance appeals to you.
The Hudson River View is a poetic residence. It is a Greek Revival with a 1920 addition of south facing porches. Even on the coldest day in the winter, if the sun is shining, these porches can be a comfortable 75 degrees.
The views and light from the guest apartment are breathtaking. The house is a three minute walk from the Hudson Train Station serviced by Amtrak. It is a wonderful opportunity to leave your car behind.
From the porch and bedroom one faces south and west with a view of Mt.Merino, the most widely painted landscape in the Hudson River School. One also has a panoramic view of the river and Catskills Mountains. The other bedroom enjoys lucid north light and the view of a handsome, 19th century school house.
The heart of the apartment is an open, light filled 13'x20'room. It encompasses a new Ikea kitchen,a dining area and living room.
The living room has a 32"flat screen TV connected to a Netflix black box which offers over 10,000 films to choose from.
Hudson offers a rare, eclectic shopping experience. The main street, Warren Street, is a wide boulevard graced on both sides with unusually individual and tasteful stores. The emphasis is on home decoration and covers the entire spectrum of design from antique to modern. Warren Street also offers an equally diverse selection of art with over 23 galleries to choose from.
If you are redecorating or building a new home, Hudson is an exceptional place to create a stylish decor.
It is not unusual to find, among other celebrities, Martha Stewart,Darryl Hannah,Bette Midler, or Brice Marden shopping the unique shops of Hudson.
Our restaurants are first class. Their menus are sophisticated and their ambiance is compelling.
Hudson is a thriving community at any time of the year with on-going cultural events and live music.
We are also very close to Bard College and the world renowned, Fisher Center, designed by the acclaimed architect, Frank Gehry.
Artist studio visits may be arranged in advance, as well as
private massage and pilates.
The kitchen is stocked with organic basics and all the cleaning supplies are natural and 100%eco-friendly.
I look forward to your visit.

Why the Owner Chose Hudson
I chose to buy my home in Hudson because of the view, the proximity to the river, the light and the extraordinary diverse population; Hudson is populated by the greatest percentage of creative and interesting people of any where I have ever lived; including London and San Miguel de Allende.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment
Allen Street is the last street of Hudson on the South side. It is quiet with expansive views of the river and Catskill Mountains. It is two blocks from the main street, Warren Street. Within 2-4 blocks there are many interesting restaurants and shops: PM is a European style wine bar, there are 3 notable art galleries, 3 restaurants and a charming tea cafe, Verdigris, and for coffee drinkers an equally interesting coffee roaster and cafe has just opened across from the train station. We are all very excited too about 'Burritoville', a modest taco, burrito stand, owned by local restauranteurs, opening shortly next to the cafe.
Still within 4 blocks, on Warren, is my favorite shop in Hudson, Rural Residence. It is a charming, impeccably merchandised gifts and home furnishing store with a distinctive 19th century style. Further on, just above 4th street, on Warren is, Hedstrom & Judd. It is also a home furnishing store with a beautiful collection of early bird prints and Swedish, Gustavian furniture.
If you like to walk, I walk every morning between the train tracks and the river. It is a journey rich with wild life and beauty. I have seen: eagles,
a beaver, a fox, Ospreys, Herons and deer. They the fishing is quite good too.
