The owners are excellent hosts; they made us feel welcome in their lodge and treated my family members like their own guests. Brant Lake is a beautiful place to vacation. The private beach, boats, dock, and outside fireplace are great amenities. Regrettably, Sunset Mt. Lodge is dilapidated. It’s well past its prime and is in dire need of many basic repairs. My family enjoyed the week anyway because we hadn’t seen one another in years. The weekly rate for a rundown lodge is too high; the price should reflect the poor condition of the lodge. The price should reflect the lodge as it is today as opposed to how it was in its heyday many years ago. Three dead rodents were found in the kitchen and one bedroom. All beds didn’t have a mattress pad. Some pillows need to be bleached or replaced. The canoe and paddles need to be repaired/replaced. The shuffleboard poles need to be repaired/replaced. The lodge needs a thorough deep cleaning. It’d be wonderful to see the lodge restored to its former glory (or a whole new glory) so folks would be proud to invite their family members there for a reunion.
