We needed a location to shoot an infomercial that said to the viewer "Hollywood" right off the bat. I wanted a contemporary look. We could have gone to The Viceroy or the W Hotel, but boy am I happy we went to Bamboo Retreat! The place could not have been more appropriate. I had been emailing with the amazing Henry on and off because I had needed to stay in Los Angeles with my little dog - he remembers you every time, BTW. It had been months between correspondence and he remembered me - that is why when the Hydroderm people I was working with wanted a very LA look to sell their product to the UK, with palm trees and hills and sunshine, I said "You have to go to Bamboo!" Our shoot started VERY early, but Henry was there to open up and accommodate our every need - I think over the course of the morning we needed and he provided: a hair dryer, a fan - it got very hot that day - and even a pair of tweezers!! Nothing was too much trouble and he smiled and was as charming all the day long just as he is in his emails. Often, location shoots can be tedious and owners don't appreciate the potential inconvenience, but since many industry types stay at Bamboo, the way had been paved for us... The place has been designed throughout by Henry's business partner, Robert. It has a contemporary but zen feel to it and is just the sort of place to help you relax from the bustle of Hollywood which is only minutes drive away. You literally are in the shadow of the Hollywood Sign. If/when I ever stay there I would take the small studio which is a little separate from the main area and had it's own private patio. Gorgeous. Stay, stay, stay! You won't want to leave! Alexandra

i travel constantly on business, and checked out vrbo after dreading the thought of staying in another bland and boring chain hotel where all the rooms look the same no matter what city you're in. i was simply dying for something different so my business trip could actually be... enjoyable!!! well i found exactly what i was looking for right here. pictures don't do this amazing place justice -- the views are sweeping... the hollywood hills and downtown l.a. spread across the skyline from the windows and deck; the vibe is great -- soothing and inspiring; and the owners amazingly thoughtful and extremely professional. as soon as i arrived i immediately knew i found an amazing home away from home. every amenity i needed and more was here and the quality of the space, service and attention to detail was simply excellent. plus, the rate not only fit perfectly in my per diem, it was simply superior bang for the buck. this is amazing value and an amazing escape. wildly surpassed all of my expectations! i'm already scheduled to return.

My stay at Bamboo Retreat was most pleasant. The design is smart, the fit an finish accomplished, and the appointments without peer. In the future, if I need to travel to Los Angeles, Bamboo Retreat will be my first, second, and last choice.Take it from a professional traveler, road warrior, what have you. This is the piece de la resistance.

We had a perfect stay at Bamboo retreats. Nested in a quiet and beautiful part of LA, peace and harmony await you home after the hectic pace of shopping and partying LA-style...Henry is a perfect, totally charming, host and went out of his way to help us with our stay in LA. A much better option to stay in LA than any other hotels we have been to...

The only bad thing about our stay... was that it was too short!Truly a delightful property: great, secluded location (yet still only minutes from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood), fantastic attention to detail (best coffee ever!), friendly vibe (personal greetings... you betcha). It all added up to a fantastic getaway, and I look forward to staying again when next in LA.

Hotel Bamboo isn't a hotel - it's truly a home, and one of the most magical, special places in Los Angeles. My wife and I were married there and we - and all of our guests - agreed that we couldn't have picked a more beautiful place for our small ceremony. Henry and the Bamboo Crew are very cool, courteous and helpful. They're never more than a phone call away but very respectful of your privacy. Highly recommended!

What a treat! Henry is the best and the Koi suite was such an amazing get-a-way. The bedroom was so comfortable, I didn't want to leave! Perfect for someone who doesn't want to deal with the Hollywood hoopla of a hotel with a scene. Thanks for a wonderful and relaxing stay.

For two months over the summer of 2009, I stayed in the studio unit on Dearborn. From the moment I walked into it, I knew I was going to be very comfortable. Walking out 8 weeks later, I felt like I was leaving home. With its roll up garage door wall revealing an amazing view of Beachwood Canyon, the soothing sounds of a water feature, the fireplace, the small but efficient kitchen, the wide-screen TV with state-of-the art sound....the place was truly a 'retreat' from the work I was in LA for. I cannot recommend it enough and plan to make it my new home in LA when I'm there on business.

Los Angeles is a massive place and can be a bit difficult to meet people. In order to cut through this move into Zen Retreat. YOU will have the pleasure of immaculately designed apartments, clever and interesting company and friendly staff. I loved staying there and it was a great start to a fabulous vacation… Go on try it, You know you want to,

After staying at a hotel in downtown LA without any refrigerator, nor microwave, spending $30 plus per meal, and $10 for a bottle of aspirin at the gift store (no shopping downtown easily accessible), I discovered this hideaway. I had beautiful views, everything a travelling executive needs, along with either a full kitchen or a kitchenette. The decor is exceptional, and they are dog friendly. Not only did I save my client money over the cost of a hotel, I enjoyed my stay immensely. The customer services is beyond exceptional. I highly recommend it!

We've had the pleasure of staying at the Bamboo on and off for 2 and a half years. Each time we happily ended up staying longer than originally planned. We've not been let down once. From the relaxing upscale and minimalist design, to the central location and service, the Bamboo met all our needs and gave us our first good taste of life in LA. We would go back in a heartbeat! Thanks Henry!

this is my home away from home. i work in film and am in and out of los angeles all the time. i've stayed for a week and for several months straight - and it always feels like home. SO much better than a hotel. fantastic, very modern design, feels very hip and yet very homey - great views - plenty of space - and lots of quiet. fantastic location in the hollywood hills. and the staff are fantastic - they take care of everything u could need and the manager henry couldn't be better. when you come home from a long day of work, you can just relax and feel good. its like the best W hotels merged with your home, a yard, views. all at a great rate. FANTASTIC.

I cannot rave enough about the Zen Retreats. Coming from Canada, I was nervous about staying at a private property without seeing it first... My fears were unfounded! The property was quite impressive, inclusive of all amenities and amazing views, and the location was fabulous. The area was quiet and secluded, but still minutes away from everything Hollywood. The owners were quick to please and assist with anything, like having your own personal concierge. I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone visiting the LA area, whether short term or long term... although my guess is you won’t want to leave (I extended my stay twice!).

This wonderful place is my favourite place to stay in LA. Discrete, cool and in a great part of town. Worth visiting LA just to stay there. I've also done some great celeb photo shoots there - it always impresses when they walk in. Each suite is different and has its own personality. Love the place.

I was fortunate enough to find Bamboo when I was looking for a temporary place in LA. It's located in trendy Beachwood Canyon, minutes from Hollywood with great bars and restaurants just down the hill. The property is seductive and private but the best part was the apartment. It was spacious, private, and uber-modern with all the amenities anyone could ever ask for. I enjoyed my stay so much I bought a house just up the street!

It's truly a beautiful oasis in the Hollywood Hills! We have stayed numerous times on business and leisure each unit is unique and cool but have some things in common - peace and quiet, beautiful views and free wifi! :) Also it's convenient to get around LA bc the highways are a few mins away. I've recommended this hidden jewel to discerning travelers. It's like having your own home in the Hollywood Hillls! Also, the staff really worked hard to make our trip as comfortable as possible.

If you're in L.A. for a longer time and aren't in the mood to stay in a hotel, I recommend this zen escape. Each space is different and tasteful and unique in design. We lived in a loft with a big bath and huge terrace; one lives more outside than inside. The peace and twittering of birds despite being just a few minutes from Sunset or Hollywood Boulevard is a dream. We plan to come again and Henry took care of all our needs personally.

This spot is my favorite home-away-from-home while in LA. It shines in all respects. It's a gorgeous property with a peaceful zen feel located high in the hills above the noise and the traffic. The unique character of each unit offers something that appeals to everyone. It's comfortable, affordable luxury with client service that is truly second-to-none. The owners go above and beyond to ensure that all client comments are addressed right away and solutions are offered. I have stayed here several times and have come away from each experience truly impressed and eager to return. One stay here and you will never return to the impersonal feel of a standard hotel.I can't rave strongly or loudly enough. You will not find this kind of peace or service elsewhere.
