Simply Top of the Line - Fit for any Movie Star or CEO !
This historic, 1870’s brownstone is located in the tony Upper East Side of New York City. (East 82nd and Second Avenue).
Jfive blocks straight East from the Metropolitan Art Museum and Central Park. It is three blocks from Park Avenue and the famous 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue shopping.
There is an express bus just steps from the building and two different subway lines are five streets away. We are two streets away from Madonna's newly purchased $30 million mansion.
It is centrally located to transportation, museums, shops and cafes. It is a very charming block with mostly row-houses. If you ever saw the movie "You've Got Mail" with Meg Ryan/Tom Hanks...this is about as close as it gets. Our house is 2500 SF with Three bedroom and 2.5 bathrooms.
This is not our primary residence and we put away the majority of our personal items so you can feel at home and comfortable. We aim to have this feel like a Presidental Hotel Suite.
The Master Bedroom faces the garden and is exceptionally quiet.
It has a queen bed with a Kluft mattress and Frette linens. The master bathroom has an oversized rain forest shower that has 8 shower heads. There is a seven foot porcelain soaking tub.
The 2nd bedroom is equally as large as the master bedrrom. It has a Twin bed over a Full size bed. (bunk bed) There is an in-suite bathroom. There are children's toys for ages 1-8.
The Third bedroom has a full size bed.
There is a portable crib if needed.
While this house is absolutely elegant, we welcome families and young children. Three full bedrooms Plus a large office. We can provide a high chair, private outside jungle gym, toys, books, strollers, bikes, car seats ...you name it. Just show up!
If you appreciate historic renovation than you will absolutely love this special home. Our 1870's Row House was near dilapidation. It took three years to return it back its original grandeur while adding top of the line upgrades and systems. It has central AC, security system, laundry room, Cable/Internet. The House has been featured in several home magazines.
The house is very functional and comfortable. While you could classify the renovation as museum quality, we made this a house to be lived in and enjoyed. The kitchen is the largest room in the house with counter seating for five. Off the kitchen is a comfortable sectional leather couch with a flat screen tv. In addition to the three bedrooms, there is a private office with plenty of desk space, and wireless internet.
We have a housekeeper who will clean three times a week. She is available (at extra cost) for daily maid service and/or child care.
* If requested, we will keep the house decorated for Christmas/New Years. We host a party earlier in the season where a florist decorates the home with fresh garland and a ten foot tree. It is quite romantic with the wood burning fireplace.
We limit group size to eight adults. (exceptions for small children)
Our nightly rate is $1600.
Rates includes maid service.
There are no additional fees or taxes.
We live in the house parts of the year and rent it out for the times we are gone. All personal items are stored away.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2001
We are a couple with three kids. Both orginally both from Utah, met met here in New York 15 years ago. I graduated from Columbia University and used to work at a large consulting firm.
My husband is an executive for a software company. We try to follow him around with his various work assignments which requires us to have several residences.
We rent all our houses out when we are not in residence.
Why the Owner Chose Upper East Side
Prior to buying our building, we lived in four neighborhoods with in NYC. There is a reason why most long term residents of NYC eventually migrate to the Upper East Side. It is similar to Hyde Park in London or the 16th Arrondissements in Paris. This area is widely regarded as the neighborhood for the wealthy. The Upper East Side is consistently manicured with clean sidewalks, flower boxes and splendid street cafes and boutique shops.
The real draw for the Upper East Side is Central Park. We are located a five minute walk to some on the prettiest areas of the park. Don't take just our word about the location.... Maddona just bought a $30 million house two blocks away.
The Unique Benefits of this House
This will be a completely different experience than staying at a midtown hotel. While only a five minute cab or subway from Grand Central Station, this location is far less bohemian and noisy. You will hear birds and Woody Allen might just greet you as you walk down the street. The city gets overwhelming if you are running around seeing tourist sites. Our guests all comment how nice it is to come back to a peaceful setting. I guarantee after three days you will consider yourself a New Yorker.
* You may have heard that it is illegal in New York City to sublet or rent your apartment. This rule only applies to buildings of 5 or more units. ( Our building is 3 units. There are a lot of people who still continue to rent their apartments in larger buildings, but you are running a risk by renting them.

On family vacations we almost always rent a home rather than stay at a hotel or resort, so we are familiar with the possibility of being let down. We had exactly the opposite experience here. The house is bigger, better equipped, more friendly and better located than we had expected. There is an office with internet, there is a huge kitchen with a sitting/play area. A lovely outdoor patio and backyard with a play area for the children (it is also a few blocks from a fabulous kids playground). We had guests every night, several parties, and formal dinners. One evening my older children had friends stay over and we slept 8 adults (plus toddler) just fine. Everyone found their place and all visitors were impressed with the beauty of the home. The owner was helpful in every possible regard even organizing a crib for our youngest. My wife was right at home in the kitchen. The place is bigger than it seems in the photos. It was spotlessly clean. We were there during a major heat wave (it went to 104 F), and the air conditioning managed to keep the whole place cool. We would without hesitation stay again. This is a home and not simply a vacation rental, and we truly felt at home in it.

This is my second time at this wonderful home with my family. It felt like a home away from home. The owners are so nice and available if you have questions about the city. Very clean and had every amenity. Although there is no room service, the surrounding restaurants deliver, so it is even better than room service. Thank you Anne for the great vacation. We will be back soon.

My colleagues and I stayed at this beautiful home in October for a retreat. It is absolutely majestic. The listing description is accurate. The photos do not do the home justice. The rooms are much larger than I had imagined. I've been to many homes in NYC and have never been in something so spacious. The owner, Anne and her husband, have an apartment manager, Mabbel, who helped with any questions leading up to our stay, facilitated an easy arrival and departure, provided fabulous local attractions and were very professional. The comfortable and intimate setting made for an incredibly memorable retreat. I am so thankful we did not need to stay in a hotel! If my family goes on a vacation in NYC, I will definitely be staying here again. Highly recommended. Thanks Anne and Mabbel.

My family and I rented this home for a long weekend in September. The property is beautiful and suited two boys (ages 2 and 4) and four adults. A bonus for us was that the owner also has two boys, so our two boys enjoyed staying in their room and sleeping in the bunk beds. The location is fantastic as it is in a quiet neighbourhood and in easy walking distance to both Central Park and to Carl Schurz Park. The owner and her apartment manager were very good and answering questions in a timely manner. I highly recommend this home.

Our family enjoyed a second stay at this location, two summers in a row! We love the ample space the brownstone offers, as well as the quaint backyard play area for the kids. We were able to walk to the Met as well as to the parks on the East River.I can HIGHLY recommend this property, it's always clean, comfortable, child friendly, excellent residential location and surrounded by a myriad of restaurants to choose from...I can't forget to mention that the owner was a delight to work with, always responsive, respecful and professional, meeting our needs without delay(for example, getting us a last minute playpen for our baby). I look forward to spending more time there in the future!

My family and I traveled to New York to celebrate my daughter's 4th birthday and rented this home for our stay (including grandparents). The house and location were just perfect for our family. The space worked out really well for extended family. Thank you to the homeowners and we will definitely be back.

What a special place. It is like staying in a historic museum. I am an antique dealer and the seeing the hand carved marble fireplace is worth staying here alone. The kitchen is a dream and our family loved long breakfasts and planning our day. Very quiet and great air-conditioning. Owners were a delight to work with and would recommed anyone to stay here. We will come back soon.

Spent a great week in this house and would highly recommend it, especially for people traveling with children. Our toddler and his babysitter stayed in the bunk beds in the front bedroom. Our infant stayed in the well-stocked nursery. We enjoyed the very quiet master bedroom. The kitchen is fabulous; we had fresh direct bring us things to stock the fridge. This was our first stay in the 82nd/2nd neighborhood, and it has great restaurants and stores. Highly recommended!

Had a family reunion for christmas in this beautiful New York City home. Great neighborhood, very festive. The whole vacation was like being in your own home which is something unusual to find in rental or even the best hotels. Any concerns were addressed by the owners or staff immediately. Highly recommend this residence.
