We had a family reunion at the house with family members ranging from 2 years old to those in the 60s and 70s. We came from Vancouver, BC, my niece from Wisconsin, the rest from NYC. We particularly enjoyed the grounds, using the hammocks, badminton net, deck and dock. We used the kayaks and bikes. The kitchen had everything we needed except a tea pot. The owner was very quick to come solve a problem with the smoke alarms. We explored the area, never having been there before and found the shopping easy. We took advantage of the farmers market on Wed., the animal farm (for the toddler) and swimming. The sunsets were magical. There was so much to do and enjoy that we never turned the TV on. Liz

What an amazing location and home! I had my family of 10 up for our daughter's UVM graduation and it was simply PERFECT! We had spectacular weather so of course that only added to the enjoyment of the backyard, numerous decks and stunning sunsets! All the couples had their own private double bedrooms (4) and the girls took the 3rd floor which offered another double bed, and 3 or 4 twins in an open plan format. It was absolutely perfect. I cannot say enough about how lovely coffee on the sun deck overlooking the lake in the AMs was and ...a glass of wine for the sunsets. It was an especially warm weekend so a few brave souls even took a dip off the private dock. I was worried about the 20 minute drive to Burlington but after going to the Sat farmers market and the throngs of people in town for the graduation - we were thrilled to return to the peace of sunny lake side hammocks, We put together our own dinners in the large kitchen and grilled our own dinner - no reservations or wait required! I highly recommend this property. Go to Hacketts (1 mile away) for the cider donuts!

We spent a long weekend at this house in mid-March for a work retreat with 12 people. It was a great secluded location with ample space for people to sleep and lounge and just relax. The kitchen was big enough to cook our own meals and there was tons of room in the living room to socialize, play games and do some work-related activities/lectures. Unfortauntely the weather was rainy and gray, so we weren't able to enjoy the deck or volleybally net, but the views and brief sunsets were amazing! Overall, this is an ideal place for a large group gathering such as family getaway/retreat with all the amenities and comforts of home. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

We spent a week here for a family reunion - some flew in from Oregon, one flew from Philadelphia, several drove from New Jersey, and one took the train from New York. There were 8 of us total, ranging from 16 years to 86 years. For starters, it was a wonderful location for it's easy proximity to the Burlington airport and Amtrak station. Everybody had a really easy time reaching the house. I can't say enough wonderful things about the house, the location, and the nice owners. The photos are accurate, but don't capture the full magic of this place. It's an idyllic property, and impeccably maintained, right on the lake, with 2 decks, an outdoor hot tub, a dock with 2 kayaks, spectacular sunsets and a generous lawn with 3 hammocks, a badminton net, child's swing set, and an outdoor fireplace. The owners generously gave us the use of 4 bikes, and their garage was amply stocked with recreational items - life vests, badminton supplies, croquet supplies, supersoakers, innertubes, etc. There is also a basement rec room complete with ping pong and foosball tables. We alternated days of just hanging around the house, kayaking, biking, taking long walks, playing badminton, soaking in the hot tub, watching the sunsets, making an outdoor fire every night, with days of exploring Burlington, the Shelburne Museum, going to the vineyard down the road for their free Thursday night concert, and going to Allenholm Farm every single day for a maple creamie (we became addicted!) We also made a side trip to the Ben & Jerry's factory in Waterbury, VT., which was an hour away and lots of fun. The house itself is immaculate, beautiful and very large and comfy. The kitchen is well equipped, and the table was large enough to seat us all. We really enjoyed cooking large family meals. There was more than enough room for everyone, and we all agreed that this was one of our best vacations ever. The owners were attentive and responsive, calling to check in and make sure we were fine, and even running over to empty the recyclable bins when the previous renters left them overflowing. All in all, this place is magic!

We celebrated our sons graduation at this wonderful property a few weeks ago, and we can't say enough good things about the entire experience. The layout and size of the house was bigger than we expected, and perfect for hosting our family for the graduation weekend. The house and property was very clean and well maintained, and the listing is very accurate. This is beautiful place, with spectacular views of Lake Champlain from almost every room inside the house. We thoroughly enjoyed the large deck (with hot tub) and yard which also overlooks the lake. We would definitely recommend this property and owner to anyone who wants a beautiful location and home for a celebration or vacation. Finally, the owners were welcoming and very helpful. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us.

After seeing this home online in September 2009, and corresponding with the owner, we booked it for the weekend our son would graduate from UVM in May 2010. We drove up from Boston to look at it. We were sold without even getting inside to see it, the grounds and the view were incredible! As May approached, we heard from the owner that they had completed some renovations, and all would be ready when we arrived. When we pulled up to the house May 21st, it was a dramatically different place! The exterior was completely re-done, new windows throughout, a dormered third floor was added, a beautiful new deck adorned the entire back of house, new bathrooms, comfy beds, tastefully decorated rooms with great views from just about everywhere, and a generous back yard with volleyball net at the ready. One of the most spectacular aspects of this home is the waterfront deck, with staircase to the lake and its own dock. It was the perfect venue for a college graduation celebration. We played frisbee and volleyball, fished, barbequed, partied, and sat around the fire pit laughing and reminiscing with Lake Champlain as the backdrop! The sunrises and sunsets over the lake were picture perfect, but the moon reflecting across the lake in the middle of the night was something else! We had a fantastic dinner at the Blue Paddle Bistro one night, the owners and staff went out of their way to accommodate our party. We rented a pontoon boat for a four hour cruise on the lake-very fun. The rest of the time we hung out at the house, it was just so nice we didn't feel the need to venture into Burlington (only a quick 20 minute drive), until graduation day. We would wholeheartedly recommend this home to anyone-without reservation!

Rented this house for our daughters wedding in Grand Isle. We were thirteen adults and had room to spare. The first floor bedroom and full bath was perfect if you have anyone who has limitations with stairways. It had everything we needed- linens, kitchen items,etc-and it was very clean. We made full use of the property- the hot tub on the deck, the badminton court, etc. Owners called to see if we were comfortable and if we needed anything. We would definitely rent this again for our next family gathering.

Although the weather was less than ideal during our two-week stay, we nonetheless thoroughly enjoyed our time at this house and hope to return next year. The photographs on seen on the web site do not do justice to the beauty of the property (particulary the back yard) and views west to the Adirondack mountains. If you seek a peaceful, rural getaway, the Lake Champlain Islands and South Hero are for you. Our group enjoyed nearby Allenholm Farm, the weekly farmer's market, children's programs at the South Hero library, the Fourth of July parade in Aulburgh as well as dining at McKee's, the Blue Paddle and Seb's. A few ventured north to Montreal for an overnight while others explored Stowe, Shelburne Farms, Ben & Jerry's and the Shelburne Museum. Burlington proved a favorite place for eating and shopping. All these sites are easy to bike or drive to from the house. The house itself is well-maintained, immaculately clean, and well appointed. The tennis fans in the family appreciated the new high definition television which enabled them to watch the Wimbledon finals. The hot tub is a fun feature as are the kayaks and bicycles. The modern, open floor plan of the floor is especially nice for gatherings of those cooking, reading, checking their e-mail (great to have a wireless connection at the house) or sitting on the deck. The owner is friendly, accommodating and a good resource for information about this part of Vermont. If your preference is to stay put and simply enjoy a view, this property is ideal. Even on a rainy day, the surrounding landscape is lovely, the birds continue to sing, and the sound of rain falling outside is completely relaxing. Sunny days draw you to the dock and the water where you can swim or lazily watch the sail boats pass by. It's an ideal vacation spot.

We rented this home for a family reunion and to celebrate my wife's 70th birthday. The choice couldn't have been better. The house easily accomodated the 12 of us, including our great grandchild of 9 months. The location was secluded enough that we had much privacy, yet within reasonable drives to stores and restaurants to satisfy all our needs. The setting is spectacular: more than ample grounds on land elevated above the lake with views of the Adirondacks to the west and spectacular sunsets. There were outside amenities to please all ages: kayaks on the lake, a large deck on the western side, a hot tub, a volleyball/badminton net, hammocks, a childrens swing and slide set, a croquet set, and of course the lake for swimming (although it was rather cold in October!) The house itself is beautiful, well furnished and we had more than ample supplies of everything we needed for our one week stay. The bedrooms are spacious and have excellent/spectacular views. The owners were reachable by phone and were very responsive whenever we called with questions. We enjoyed day trips to Burlington, Smugglers Notch and Stowe, and the Ben and Jerrys factory. Closer by, we took numerous walks including an easy walk to the Snow Farm winery. I highly recommend this property.
