Experience the real Costa Rica at this home designed by renowned architect 'Olivier' of Nosara, for Europeans. The simple lines, high ceilings, vented through breezeways, original Mexican tile floors and wood ceilings add to the feeling of high tropical design for mainly outdoor living. A huge rancho shades outside meals, yoga, exercise and 'hanging out', overlooking the pool. The landscaping boasts many varieties of plants and trees- where exotic birds and troops of monkeys pass through, usually daily, as this property backs up to the Nature Reserve in Pelada. The property is so wholesome and complete that it is hard to leave it, even to walk to the beach, a block away. But the beach! One of the quietest, most beautiful in Costa Rica, one can walk down the beach at sunset, and perhaps see one other person. Walk the beach to La Luna restaurant, one of the best in town, by sunset, wine and dine, and walk back to the house by full moon!
Nearby Guiones can be accessed by continuing on the beach a further few minutes, and over the pathway. For exercisers and walkers, it is possible to walk 2 hours there and back without ever leaving the water.
Our maid will have the house in tip top shape when you arrive, and then comes once a week to clean to give you optimum privacy. Clean towels are available and sheets upon request. The maid will handle your small personal laundry when she comes, or laundry facilities are nearby for larger loads if desired. There is a 75- management and cleaning fee on top of all bookings for 1-2 weeks, 100- 3+ weeks. Upon renting, you will be informed as to the best local supermarkets to buy food, best local restaurants, and the most economical, high quality way to live. Outdoor activities are within walking distance - horse riding, kayaking, wild life refuge tour, river tours, bird watching, and a short drive (5 minutes) to the longest zip line in the country, surf school, and a world famous yoga center. For a bout of tech-withdrawal, the house has fast internet access and also wi-fi. The local internet cafe, the Frog Pad, is also 8 minutes away where you can be at the cheapest telephone rates across the world and fast internet connections. Casita Louisa is a haven for the simpler, creative and healthy type, (or one who would like to be) who sees life in an artistic and healthful way, and wants to truly escape from the mayhem of contemporary life for a while, without spending a fortune! Paintings, books, films and artwork inside the house, and nature abounding outside - a true getaway!

My family of 4 has just returned from staying at Casita Louisa. We woke up everyday to families of Howler Monkey's in the trees. We would sit and watch the monkey show with awe. Babies galore!! It also seems there is a 'monkey hiway' passing right over Casita Louisa's front gate. We were within touching distance of these Howler families MANY times!! So amazing! You cannot get this in an apt. Complex. Not a chance! The pool is dubbed by the locals as being THE best pool in Nosara. It's like swimming in your bathtub...again amazing!! My daughter learned to swim in 2 days!! Wow! We pretty much lived on the patio and in the yard, so, private and beautiful. Again WOW!! This part of town is quiet and we seemed to have the beach (Playa Pelada, a beautiful stroll away) to ourselves. We fell in love with Costa Rica here! The house is VERY well stocked. We had everything we needed. Steve and Sue (caretakers) are amazing and super helpful (thanks you guys). There is no air conditioning and it does get hot, but there are plenty of fans to cool you off and help you sleep. When you stay here you get your moneys worth and MORE!! the reason I gave this spot 4 stars instead of 5 is that we were concerned over the low pay the Tico staff is receiving. We tipped the maid every time she came to make up for this. I really hope this will change as slave labor is illegal. It's my opinion the American operated business' are taking some advantage of the locals. I hope this will be stop. Even if you have to charge more per night. It is definantly worth it!!! Thanks Joie. We will return one day.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Very comfortable house, owner was easy to deal with, local property manager was kind and quick to respond, maid and gardener lovely people--friendly but also respectful of our privacy; proud of their excellent work. Photos are accurate--I took some of them! We have a very busy 4 year old child, and this house worked great for us. Because of the simple, handmade furniture, the house is elegant but hard to damage. The entire property is enclosed by fencing so as long as the gate was closed, we didn't worry when she was out in the yard. Also, the house was designed to let in breezes and vent out heat; it was like living in the most comfortable tent you could imagine, with nature right there but experienced from a king-size bed under a powerful ceiling fan. There is an enormous old guanacaste tree high above the property and the pool, and we spent hours watching monkeys, iguanas and birds up in its canopy. This house is the perfect distance from the bustle of Guiones; my reflective, nature-oriented family was very happy here--in 10 minutes we could take our quad over to the restaurants and shops in Guiones, or to the stores in Nosara, but then retreat to quiet Pelada to recover our equilibrium. There is daily yoga just 100 m away, at Nosara B&B, and an astonishing beach just around the corner, and several very nice restaurants right here in Pelada. When we first arrived, I was exhausted from years of hard work, and spent hours every day just sleeping and walking the beach; by the end I felt like myself again for the first time in years--peaceful and confident. Finally, the house is all ground-level, suited to folks with limited mobility. Two things to consider: A low door sill (perhaps .75 cm in height, with graded edges) between the rancho and the living room, and a low wall to step over to get into the master bedroom shower. Also, the driveway is gravel. However, more accessible than most Costa Rican houses, which are usually several steps above ground level. My mother, who has arthritis leading to severe discomfort in her feet, would have found it very comfortable to negotiate. We would love to stay here again one day.Recommended for: People with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The pool was great, day and night! Just 3 blocks to beach and can easily walk to La Luna for great meal out on the sand. Joie was a wonderful host, sent lots of info before departure and answered all questions quickly. We lived on veranda, hamocks, and pool.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Hi Joie, We made it back home yesterday and wanted to thankyou for letting us stay at your beautiful home. We had a great time and really enjoyed all that Nosara has to offer. Our daughter loved the pool, monkeys and Gato. Richard was awesome as well as Jose and Isabelle, they all made us feel like family. Sad to be home, we could have used 3 more weeks down there. thanks againDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Hi Joie, One day you may need a favor from me, and all you need do is call. I owe you. From the bottom of my heart please accept my profound thanks for making this trip happen for **** and I. I know that you made us an incredible deal, and this has been an incredible trip. **** asked me to please extend her thanks. She is in love with your house. Tomorrow we leave early for San Jose. Isabell and Richard, they are priceless. Both have been incredibly kind and helpful. We hired Isabell for an extra couple of days. Yesterday she joined us for breakfast prior to cleaning. We quizzed her in our broken spanish about her boyfriend, and valentines day. When we got home she had made a heart out of towels on the bed and placed hibiscus flowers along the top. All my best,Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
