Has been sold! Sorry.Lazy Days is a comfortable cabin in a very scenic area. It might not be a '5 star' hotel with room service, but if you are looking for a relaxing, quiet getaway with fantastic views, a fast-moving, gushing creek, and a comfortable place to stay, this is the place! It can be used for a couple or a for a family with small children. The bedroom has a comfortable queen size bed and a futon made to appear as a daybed. Use the new futon for your child to sit on and play video games, watch tv, or take a nap, or even sleep through the night. We have added a small deck that overlooks the creek. Enjoy it most late in the evening while cooking your burgers.
Your first thought when you see the cabin may be Rustic. If you are looking for the Holiday Inn, this cabin may not be for you. However, if a comfortable ,well-provided mountain cabin with amazing creek access and fishing is what you are looking for, you've found the right place! The outside of the cabin has its original look, including the original doors and porches. We have added a huge window on the backside of the bedroom which makes the creek loud and clear- great for clearing your thoughts of the troubles of the world.
You will find we have added a few flowers and personal touches. The inside has been about 75% remodeled. In the living room there is a sofa, a big coffee table just right for small children to enjoy eating on while watching some television, and also an electric fireplace. We have added Netflix so there are lots of kid shows loaded and ready to enjoy. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare a healty meal of vegetables and even cook a 20 pound ham if you'd like in the full size stove. Or you could cook up pizza and wings. It is not a huge kitchen but it is well-stocked. If it is luxury you are looking for then this might not be what you are looking for. But Lazy Days has the rustic look of a true cabin, the comforts of home without being confined to one room like in a hotel. It has a creek that makes it so you don't have to drive anywhere to enjoy the water. On the back porch you will find two comfortable chairs to relax in while some of your family can enjoy the fishing while you take a little time for yourself to read a book.
Take time while you are there to visit Shatley Springs. Their menu can be found online. They have great fried chicken, collards, ham and so much more. After having a good meal then drive on to enjoy what Virginia has to offer just minutes away. The Grayson Highland Park is so enjoyable. It is a good place to let your children get out and stretch their legs, run and see great views God has given us to enjoy. It has several trails with views. The Parkway is also very close by as well as the Creeper Trail, enjoy all its tressels and mountain views. Lazy Days sits where the Creeper Railroad once traveled. We have enjoyed many visits to Lansing ourselves and always managed to find something new to do. This area was new to us when we purchased these two cabins but we have spent the last few years finding so many local treasures. If you like backroads then you'll love it here. Take time out and come spend a three day weekend at Lazy Days. Plan a day for West Jefferson, a day for Grayson and Shatley Springs and maybe even take a day for going down the Parkway up to Blowing Rock and take the kids to Tweetsie.
Where-ever you decide to visit, Lazy Days is certainly a good spot to come home to. Come back and get out the fishing poles and hamburger patties. Get the children to sleep and enjoy sitting out on the deck with a glass of wine and just relax. There's also a single air mattress there if you prefer your 3rd person sleep in the living area. The sofa does not fold out but feel free to double up the kids in the living room. And if that is not enough space then check out Caleb's Cabin. Being here is like having the most perfect campsite, but with the comfort of not having to walk to the bath-house. There is a firepit out by the water for roasting marshmallows.
When you arrive be sure to open the windows and enjoy the sound of the water gushing by and the breeze. Get our your brochures and start planning an exciting adventure of your own!
Lazy Days now has Netflix!

My family went up to the mountains for the weekend to getaway. When we arrived at the cabin we new we were in for some relaxing time. The children played in the stream and watched for animals in the woods. The cabin was very comfortable. The beds were nice and soft with plenty of nice cover available. We ate most of our meals at the cabin and I found the kitchen to be well stocked. We grilled out on our last night and ate down by the stream. We greatly enjoyed our weekend and will be returning. The quiet weekend is exactly what we needed.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.
Owner response: So glad we could work you in. Thanks for being such a wonderful guest! I have already taken care of your fall booking. Sorry you did not see any deer or bears!

Hi, our stay was great. We really enjoyed it.(Hope ya'll enjoyed your vacation too.) We loved the sound of the rippling brook. The water was low so we only caught a few small trout out back and a bunch of crawdads. I think he did catch a couple of trout big enough to eat out back though. We also had a bear on a couple of the days. He never really bothered us . He was kind of neat to watch. He was out behind the "Caleb Cabin" in the tall grass in the brook. Ric came by and saw us and checked on us. The back deck is beautiful. We ate several times on the lower deck. We loved the cooler temperatures up there and the humidity was lower too. Thanks for the use of the cabin. It was great. Kenneth and Emily PeasleeDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We arrived late and were very tired from our long drive. We were too tired to sleep so we sat down and fumbled through the DVDs until we found a good, old movie to watch. We popped a little popcorn and relaxed a while. Coming in from Florida we were happy to have the weather be a little cooler. The drive was a little tricky that time of night with all the binds and twisting in the road from Warrensville on to the cabin, there were so many bridges. But it was worth the drive. The bed was clean and comfortable. Fortunately for us there were lots of things for our little boy to do for the first day since it was rainy all day. We cooked most of our meals at home but did go out to see the area. We went into West Jefferson to Jefferson Natural Park one day and took the Parkway the next. I enjoyed sitting by the creek early in the morning. We saw several deer out drinking water from the creek and lots of birds flying about. By the way, you have a nest of birds on the back porch. I watered some of the flowers for you. Thanks again for taking us at such late notice. Jim and LaurenDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

My wife and I stayed here 10-30-10. The cabin was peaceful and cozy. All arrangements went smoothly and the price cannot be beat. We ate at Black Jack's Pub in W. Jefferson, great food and service. We will stay again and would recommend this cabin to our friends. My only recommendation is to bring a radio if you want to listen to one (not that you need to with the sounds of the great outdoors right outside).Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: The radio will be added, I guess we just never thought about it. We have added a larger electric fireplace and hope to keep making it better!

The house was great, everything we needed was there. We found the house clean and a great place to escape. We all enjoyed our stay. We spent our days visiting close-by towns and stopping in shops. This was a great place to get away from so much stress and get back to the important parts of living. I would recommemd it highly.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.

Lazy Days of Summer was just what we needed! We needed a break from the heat on the eastern side of the state. The sound of the creek from the bedroom made for as relaxing of a sleep as I could ever imagine. Our son enjoyed playing in the creek, he caught three fish. Everything that we needed was there. The mountain view from the front porch was nice, it was very quiet out there but we could hear the creek even from there. The bed is very comfortable. It was so private there.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We had another wonderfully relaxing time at Caleb’s Cabin. The weather was cold to start with but it warmed up and we had a great time. The last morning we were there we saw three deer across the creek. As I washed dishes, I saw another deer drinking in the creek. Thanks for sharing the cabin with us. We can’t wait to come again. Unbelievable! JanetDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a wonderful time at the cabin. Especially with the chilly weather, we spent most of our time inside. The cabin had all of the amenities we needed and was very clean! Anyone looking to get away from civilization for a weekend should consider staying here-it's very peaceful and quiet. Perfect. Thanks for the stay! About the owner: We are both educators who work from home. The rental business keeps both of us very busy. Our rentals are all comfortable and affordable. We visit each rental from time to time and always find it difficult to leave them. We enjoy fishing and discovering new places.
Why the Owner Chose West Jefferson:
We purchased this cabin because of its great location, its secluded setting, and its great surroundings. It sits on a creek and has mountain scenery all around. The house itself is quite spacious and comfortable for an old cabin. The house has been renovated and is very clean and inviting. The interior has all been redone for your comfort.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
When we visit the cabin we always go to Lansing and West Jefferson to eat and shop. We usually pick up food and hit the Parkway and ride until we find the perfect spot for a picnic. The cabin sits where the Creeper Railroad once traveled. Historical Creeper Railroad Trail Museum sits 5 minutes away, where you will find walking/biking trails. There are lots of great views in the area. Blowing Rock is a nice visit for one day while you are here, then come on back and relax and enjoy the creek and scenery. Big Horse Creek right down from your cabin deck, is stocked with fish, renters have had great success! Cool weather year-round- a great escape from the summer heat. Fishing starts March/ early April. Ashe County offers cool, sunny days throughout the summer, beautiful colors througout the fall, snowy scenes in the winter. Something great to do year-round if you like to get away from the hussle-bussle! Don't forget the Merlefest in April and Christmas in July. Nothing is better than the luxury of fishing out your own back door. Lazy Days is very close to Tenn. and Virginia borders, take in three different states in one day if you'd like. Some of Virginia's best views are close by.
