Aspen Hill Retreat-$225/Night-Remote-1hr Yellowstone Nal'l Pk
Year Purchased: 1995
Why the Owner Chose Livingston
We are only 10 minutes from the Yellowstone River and some of the worlds best fly fishing and one hour from Yellowstone National Park. Bozeman is a half hour away and Livingston even closer. Bridger Bowl ski area is 40 minutes via Jackson Creek Road.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Having the mountains in our backyard and the creek and pond to play in added a unique dimension to our children's lives. One could feel the peacefulness of the area as soon as one started the five-mile drive home after working in town all day. Sitting on the deck and watching the sunset is a moment to cherish. We are still in awe of the great beauty here and are very happy to share our home with our guests. The wildflowers in spring and summer cover the hillsides around the house. If you like bird watching the deck is a great place to sit with a bird book and binoculars. Moose feed on the willows down by the creek, black bear visit occasionally and of course deer are abundant and a herd of elk wander through the property depending on the time of year. There is never a dull moment in nature at Aspen Hill Retreat.
Log home 5 miles on a county road remote, creek, pond, tipi, 45 acres of fir and aspen trees, wildlife, mountainous.
Yellowstone River is a first class fly fishing river. It is one of the last free flowing rivers in North America. It flows north from Yellowstone National Park from its source Yellowstone Lake.
Dozens of well marked fishing access sites along 89 South. Rent a raft/boat in Livingston or Emigrant and spend the day enjoying the river.
Owner's Map of Livingston
We built and participated in the design and construction of this home in the mountains between Livingston and Bozeman in 1995 as a place to raise our three children, then ages 9, 11 and 13. They are grown and live in NY, TX and AK. We are now living and working in Billings, making our home available to vacation renters. This is a perfect spot for a quite retreat with a loved one and large enough for a family reunion. Lots of hills to climb and forest/creek to explore, along with a night in the tipi down by the creek. One night we were wakened by a mama and baby moose feeding in the willows next to the tipi, we watched them in the moonlight for a long time. These are magical moments.

Wonderful location. Great family bonding. We all did our own things from a day trip to Yellowstone as a family, Glacier national park, Livingston rodeo, parade, gourmet dining downtown, horse back rides through the mountains and the Lewis and Clark caverns. We loved relaxing in the deck and ate many family dinners in the large kitchen. Would love to come back. Thanks for all the wonderful memories. The tepee was a hit too!

We drove down from the prairies in Canada to relax & enjoy some very different mountain scenery, and we were not disappointed! The house & surrounding area are both beautiful and serene. We did day trips to Yellowstone, the Crazy Mountains, & the Bozeman area. We saw everything from Bison to elk, hawks, and deer. We trekked around the 'neighborhood' as well, Mostly we only saw a deer family around the house. The hummingbirds were quite entertaining on the deck, drinking from the feeder and occasionally thinking one of us was a flower(bright shirt). There was one big storm overnight - buckets of hail. We felt very safe in the house. In the morning it looked as though it had snowed, as the hail still laid in accumulated piles around the house. Thank you very much for sharing your wonderful home! We enjoyed your mountain retreat immensely! Kim, Doug & Daisy (dog) (Copied from the guest book)

This is a beautiful cabin in beautiful surroundings! We've really enjoyed our stay here - only wish it were longer. A few deer came by to visit and on the first day we saw a bear! Thank you for letting us enjoy your beautiful home. Hopefully we come back.

What an incredibly beautify house this is! Very warm and homey; the children adored it. Bozeman is a fantastic place to which we hope to return. No moose or bears but we did have snakes and a small band of deer. Thank you!

Had a blast at this fabulous retreat. What a haven up here in the hills. The cabin is beautiful and more than ample for all of us. While the fishing wasn't as fruitful as we may had hoped (lots of rain this year so the river was still high), the tales will be long-lasting. Thanks for making our vacation a memorable one at Aspen Hill. Back to the Grind.

We all had a great time in this wonderful cabin. What a setting. Saw lots of wildlife, the Aspen trees were turning, soft rains. A great spot for good friends to be together. (Four couples from MO and KS) Thanks for making it available to us "flatlanders".

We very much enjoyed your lovely home for the week we spent in Montana. We enjoyed kayaking the Yellowstone and Gallatin Rivers. We met my cousin from AZ and his family one day in Butte, since they were visiting a daughter and son-in-law in Victor. Enjoyed the history of Butte and visiting the Copper King Mansion and Berkley Pit. We went to Ennis one day and Virginia City and Nevada City-very interesting history. Many good memories. Thank you for sharing your Montana home with us.

Our family came to celebrate our oldest son's marriage on Sunday, 26 August at the Springhill Pavilion in Belgrade. We ranged in age from Gramps at 81 to our sweet little granddaughter Brooke, 7 months. We have enjoyed your home and were amazed at how well equipped it was. Our time was busy with stag parties, dinner for the bride and her friends, rehearsal dinner and the beautiful wedding-we only wish we had more time to just sit on the porch and relax.

This is the first time on one of our family reunions when we have all been able to share the same house. We are glad to report the experiment was a success! The house was so comfortable and well appointed. We spent lots of time cooking, eating, laughing and playing poker. Lots of money exchanged hands again and again. We visited Yellowstone, Virginia City, Nevada City and Bozeman. The Virginia Players are a hoot. Check them out! We left a brochure. Highlights included fishing, tubing down the Madison River, a murder mystery dinner, an Iron Chef competition and stargazing. Thanks for a wonderful home base for the fourteen of us.

Our Pennsylvania son married a Montana girl at the Springhill Pavillion. We had a great family turnout. We loved the house and it felt like our place to relax. I knew when we started the 5-mile drive down Orea Creek Road, that we were in store for the real Montana experience. I woke up one morning to deer in the yard and an afternoon sighting of elk. We loved how close the deer got to the house and the fawn that jumped around the back of the house. Thank you for letting up enjoy your home!
