Just outside of Steelville, Missouri, River Oaks Ranch is a magical getaway where friends and family can relax and reconnect. The private and secluded 220 acre estate is nestled in the Mark Twain National Forest in the rolling Ozark Mountains. Estate grounds extend down to a gravel bar beach on the crystal clear Courtois, one of three floatable streams within ten minutes of the ranch. Walk out the ranch gate and you are on the Ozark Trail, a scenic Missouri treasure with hundreds of miles of hiking/riding/equestrian trails.
The lodge comfortably sleeps up to 16 guests. Graciously appointed and with many comforts, the lodge is still a welcoming place for families, with plenty of room inside and out for children to play and explore. Relax and entertain in the 30x30-foot Great Room with a massive 20-foot fireplace and hearth, piano, satellite HDTV, stereo, DVD player, game table and wet bar. Step onto the furnished 30-foot front porch and have your morning coffee while enjoying a panoramic view of the Courtois River Valley and mountain ridges beyond. Watch the ranch horses graze and wildlife roam. Stroll down to the lake and fish for crappie, bluegill, bass or catfish. Take a float on the crystal clear Courtois and then relax on our gravel bar beach, a great way to cool down on a hot summer day. Gather around a roaring campfire at night and be amazed by the sheer number of stars in the big Missouri sky.
The gourmet kitchen features two separate cooking stations, one with griddle and grill. The kitchen is fully equipped to prepare elaborate cuisine or simple country fare. Entertain in whatever style you desire, with a 10-foot dining room table which seats 12 and another table nearby that seats 6.
The five spacious bedrooms plus sun room sleep up to 16 people. The bedrooms are decorated with a French Country flair and have ample closet and chest space as well as a comfortable chair for reading. The master suite is a retreat in itself; complete with a private bath, sun room, sitting areas and library. There are a total of three bathrooms.

More than we expected...PERFECT!

We stayed at River Oaks on the weekend of July 9th of 2011 and were so impressed with this place! Our group of 16 goes on an annual float trip every year. All being in our 30's, our goal for this trip is to get away from work and kids to enjoy an adult weekend where we can relax... away from the younger "party crowd". We have never gone to the same place twice because we have never found the PERFECT place...until this year! Phil & Melissa at River Oaks made us feel welcome and were amazing when it came to making sure we had everything we needed, including our privacy! It's always hard to tell from pictures on the web whether or not lodging is going to have enough space for a group like ours, so our expectations were as such. We pulled up to the house, after the gorgeous drive in, and all of our jaws were on the floor. Phil met us at the door and gave us the tour. AMAAAAZING! River Oaks has every comfort of home and then some! The beds were comfy, there is plenty of bathroom space for everyone, the property is breathtaking and the kitchen was huge! For the first time, we weren't going to be packed into a two room cabin sharing a wall of bare mattresses for our sleeping quarters! The best part? There was no one else around except for the stars! We arrived Friday and floated Saturday morning directly back to River Oaks, which was great! One couple in our group was ahead of us and missed the takeout. Melissa was on the property when we returned from the river and I explained what had happened and she was very helpful with providing info on how we should go about getting them back to the grounds. All worked out fine by 8pm that night and the couple made it back in time for dinner with the group. I was very impressed that Melissa cared enough to call that evening and make sure we had found them and everything worked out ok! If you have a relaxed group who is looking for an escape rather than a noisy camping experience, this is your place! Phil & Melissa work very hard to keep up the property and the house and it shows. Please, if you stay here, be respectful of their hard work & dedication by treating the place as if it were your own! So many great memories and fun times were made at River Oaks and we will be back next year!!!

Hi Phil and Mellissa, I received the refund today for the security deposit. Thank you for refunding it so quickly. And thank you for a wonderful, wonderful weekend. We had so much fun and the accommodations were outstanding. Everything we could possibly need was available to us. You have such lovely things there for us to enjoy.....antiques art work and sculptures etc. Because I was the one to select your place for our ladies getaway......I felt responsible that everyone would be happy with it.......and they certainly were. I've been named the official travel agent for all future trips.......<laughing> Again, many thanks and I hope we are able to stay there again some time.....or I may bring my family down there for a getaway.....that would be awesome as well. Our recent stay at River Oaks Ranch was very relaxing. The owners were so gracious and were interested in making sure our stay would be fun. They went over and above by giving us local contact information for several planned activities. We found the home, grounds and property in outstanding condition and very clean. It was great that everyone had their own bedroom and cooking in that large, fully stocked kitchen and 2 workstations moved food prep along easily. We would recommend this property with a solid 5 stars. If you are going to have a large group, this is the place for you. It offers plenty of room for everyone to be together yet not on top of each other. There are also so many activities there or close by that you won't run out of things to do. Overall, we were completely satisfied in every area. You don't find folks as interested in making sure you are taken care as well as these owners. They were very hospitable from our first contact and even checking on us after our stay. We will definitely be using this property again!

We have now stayed here twice and both visits were outstanding. Home and surrroundings are very clean and well kept. The highlights for us are breakfast on the porch with beatiful views and relaxing down at the river on Sunday morning after an exciting weekend.
