I want to echo what everyone else has already said. This is a wonderful cabin, and it was easy to get to. The peace and quiet are not to be surpassed. Sitting on the back deck, watching nature, listening to the creek-- it was Heaven! The Johnsons were most gracious, and made sure I had everything I needed. Gary filled the bird feeder, and I was amused for hours watching the birds fly in. I hope to be able to return in the spring. Fox Den was clean, well stocked, and had many extras. It was better than home!

Recommended for:Age 55+, pet owners, sightseeing, girls getaway, people with disabilities, romantic getaway.

We have had the extreme pleasure of staying at the Fox Den cabin for many years. The first time we drove up the driveway and saw the cabin, we knew this was the "get-away" place we'd been searching for. Fox Den is so warm and welcoming, as are Bunny and Gary, who never fail to make sure you have everything you need to have a relaxing stay. As wonderful as the cabin is, the porch (complete with dining table, rockers and a swing) off the back is the biggest reason we return as often as we can! We have spent many hours enjoying the shade trees, birds, animals and babbling brook while reading or catching a much-needed nap! As you sit and rock, stress and cares just melt away. Fox Den makes a great "home base" for those who are seeking to enjoy outdoor activities (hiking, walking, fishing, canoeing, tubing, etc.)- or just wander downtown Sparta and enjoy the mountain ambiance. We have been completely thrilled with Fox Den and think of it as our "little slice of heaven". Our only disappointment is when we call to make a reservation and Fox Den is not available!

My husband & I have stayed @ Fox Den Cabin more times than we can count over the past 7-8 years. The experience from the very first stay was so inviting. As we drove up then, and each time since, we feel relaxation, pleasure, tranquility, privacy, solitude, etc. sweep over us. It really feels like coming home to "our hideaway in the mountains." The only thing we bring is our clothes, some toiletries, and food (including grilling goodies). A glass of wine is a nice addition as you unwind gently swaying on the back porch swing or rocking in the rocking chairs overlooking the creek. "Sit a spell and visit awhile" is the motto for the back porch. Gary & Bunny, your hosts, do not miss any detail necessary to make this a superb jumping-off point to hiking, canoeing, etc....any activity you may plan while in the mountains. Or just hide out the whole time as we've done more than once! We've enjoyed it so much that we have made the cabin a meeting spot for other family members so they can stay with us in "our cabin in the mountains." Give it a try...you won't be disappointed! Time to create your own memories.....
