Outside, by the seawall at the water's edge of our gulfside unit.
Location: Boca Grande, Gasparilla Island, Florida South West, Florida, USA (N. Gasparilla Island - Boca Grande)
Accommodations: Condominium, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 4-6)
Unit 75 in the Boca Grande North condominium complex has a terrific view of Little Gasparilla Pass and the Gulf of Mexico. You can enjoy the view from the west-facing lanai or exit the lanai, go down some stairs, take 4 or 5 steps to the seawall, and put your toes in the warm, clear waters of the Gulf of Mexico. If you are a little nimble, you can hop off 4 ft high seawall into about 18 inches of water at low tide and go wading. At high tide, its about 30 inches deep. From the seawall, we've seen bottle-nosed dolphins, snook, jacks, and spotted leopard rays. It's awesome!
The unit is impeccably furnished. The owners like to spend as much time as possible on Boca Grande so they've furnished the condo luxuriously and they take care of every little detail.
Whether you are a person who enjoys an active vacation or a very laid back experience, you will not be disappointed by a vacation to Boca Grande.
Some of the activities that we enjoy on the island are:
Boating - the owners own kayaks and use them on the bayside to tour the backwaters of Charlotte Harbor. You can rent kayaks at Grande Tours, nearby. On the gulf side, they like like to paddle out to Little Gasparilla Island, to do beachcombing for shells and shark's teeth. Friends visiting the condo bring fishing boats and kayaks down while visiting the unit. Fishing boats are available for rent from Boca Boats and other nearby marinas.
Fishing - the backwater fishing for speckled seatrout, snook, and redfish is truly exceptional. We don't really go in for the "big game" fishing on Boca Grand which is the shark, grouper, snapper, and tarpon fishing in Boca Grande Pass, along the Gulf beaches, and offshore in the Gulf.
The bike path - on Boca Grande, an old railroad grade was converted to a bike trail that runs practically the entire length of Gasparilla Island. The town center, Boca Grande, is about five miles down the bike trail. The trail goes past the town center, all the way to the old light house and museum at Boca Grande Pass, 7 or 8 miles from the Boca Grande North complex. So, it's great fun to bicycle, roller blade, or run around in golf carts on the island.
So, you can enjoy fishing, boating, biking, shelling, kayaking, swimming, ... all the "ing's" in the world, or you can just hang out on the porch with a good book under a ceiling fan ... "veg-ing". You just can't beat it!!
