We built our DREAM HOME in historic St. Marys in 2008, starting with an adorable "cottage" apartment where we lived above the garage while building our home a short 50 steps away. After moving into our home, we have filled our little upstairs cottage frequently with visitors, including friends, family, and renters. A recent young visitor branded our cottage as "Pelicans' Perch" after sleeping in what she called the "pelican room". Once she saw the pelicans perching on pilings at the waterfront, the name was a "done deal"!
"Pelicans' Perch" is a VERY SPACIOUS 700+ square feet cottage of "charm", including a dining/small game/sleeping room off the great room. This room has a built-in booth and a "pelican" day bed with a trundle bed underneath. The great room has a queen leather sofa sleeper and matching leather recliner, large coffee table, as well as a flat screen HD TV, bookcase, and more. The bedroom is spacious with built-in drawers and closets, and the laundry room is located right across from the bedroom for convenience. The full bath has a walk-in shower with a built-in seat. The kitchen is fully loaded, including a walk-in pantry! Our property is gated and fully fenced.
We have two bikes available for cruising our wonderful little town and waterfront, which is located just a few blocks away. Visitors can catch the ferry to Cumberland Island there, as well as the ferry to Fernandina, Fl. We love our home and our wonderful little community, and would love to share it with you!

My husband, Chip, and I visited our children and grandchildren in St. Marys for several years, and over the years fell in love with it. The quaint and friendly community quickly became our "place of choice", and when we retired, we could not move here fast enough. That decision has been one of the best we've ever made!

Stayed here for one week Nov. 6-13, 2010. Property was beyond what we had expected. The owners, Peegy and Chip, are the most gracious hosts. Close to everything yet in a quiet historical area. Easy access to the interstate and literally 30 minutes away takes you to additional sites worth exploring. Golf options are also great. Would recommend this VRBO rental and hope to return again. Thanks for a great week!!

My family spent a week at this property and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. The owners are most gracious and everything is very comfortable. They are available at any time to answer any questions and give recommdations for local sites and restaurants. Many supplies are available there which means less to transport or purchase upon arrival, such as laundry detergent and paper goods. Our two dogs enjoyed the fenced yard and the family pet on the grounds. The location of the property makes day trips to many places easy and provides a great variety within the trip. We particulary enjoyed the beaches close by and a trip to Savannah. When we go again we have a better feel for the area and will be able to experience even more of what is there close to St Marys. It is a wonderful property.

We've been to St. Marys twice before but this was easily our best trip. This rental is really fully furnished and equiped - we had everything we needed and many bonuses that made for a luxurious stay. The owners (and their wonder-dog Bailey) quickly became friends and we'll definitely stay at their rental the next time we're there. Some of the unexpected bonuses included practically brand-new appliances in the kitchen, leather recliner and couch, large LCD TV with satellite, great bicycles for exploring town, and even a gas grill with utensils for great dinners. The property is beautiful and manicured backyard is open for guests to enjoy. We highly recommend this rental!

We loved our Thanksgiving holiday here! Everything we needed was provided in this very charming, cheerfully decorated and very comfortable apartment and we felt immediately welcomed. This area of Georgia (and northeast FL) is a hidden jewel. Peggy and Chip Hollis are incomparable hosts with unlimited knowledge to share about the area. We'll be back in the Spring!

5 Star accommodation's, a perfect place to stay and see the area. Cumberland Island is a must see and Jacksonville, Florida is only 25 miles for a number of things to do there. Thanks Peggy and Chip.

This place was amazing. A wonderful house to come home to from busy day trips in the hot sun. Our 5 year old loved the back yard to play baseball or run around. A perfect size for the 3 of us. We spent 5 nights at this beautiful and peaceful home away from home. This "garage apt" is very spacious and extremely well equipped and is beautifully decorated. We stayed at St. Mary's, Ga. in the evenings while we traveled throughout Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida during the day. Chip and Peggy are great hosts, very helpful and sweet. We loved staying here.
