OUR ADDITION IS COMPLETE! NOW RENTING AS A 3 BEDROOM 3 BATHROOM VACATION RENTAL! New addition offers 2 new master suites, one on the main floor and one on the second floor. Each master bathroom has double sinks. The third bedroom upstairs on the right and has access to a full bathroom on the main floor. Newfound Cottage now accommodates 6 guests! The living room is now 17' x 14' with an electric fireplace and 37" flat screen TV!
General Description:
Newfound Cottage is 1350 sq. ft. total, 2 stories with 3 bedrooms 3 bathrooms. The decor of the cottage is elegant but comfortable. The 22' cathedral ceiling is wood tongue and groove throughout the main floor. Hardwood floors cover the main floor, ceramic tile in the bathrooms and high quality carpet in the bedrooms. Out the back door is the most private, romantic and secluded hot tub in the most wonderful wilderness setting in WNC! The downstairs master suite has private access to the hot tub on the back deck. And we didn't put a full length covered front deck on the cottage just for looks! You need to sit out on the deck and let your eyes soak in the properties natural wilderness-like surroundings and let your ears experience all the sounds that you may not have at your own home - exactly what you came to the montains for .... isn't it?! Sit quietly . . . listen . . . take it all in.
Bedroom Furnishings:
Each of the 3 bedrooms offers a queen-size bed, ceiling fan, chest-of-drawers style bedside tables (for folded clothing storage) with lamps and alarm clock, closet with louvered bi-fold doors (one master has armoire for hanging clothes) with coat hangers and blanket.
Provisions:
Paper products, linens, towels, liquid soaps for all sinks and shower, shampoo/conditioner, laundry detergent, coffee/coffee filters/flavored and plain dry creamer, flavored teas, cooking oil & spray, simple breakfast foods (breakfast bars, oatmeal and mini boxes of cereal), salt 'n pepper, plastic wrap and aluminum foil, pen/paper, dining guide, brochures, maps, phone book.
Amenities:
A 37" flat screen TV offers DirecTV (also offers music channels!) in the living room. A small DVD library (which I'm always adding to) of sci-fi, action/adventure and kids Disney movies and a combo DVD/VCR/CD player. There is an electric fireplace in the living room for winter aubience and a wood stove style set of gas logs in the dining area. Adult-age board games are also provided for when rainy days keep you indoors (yes, with pen & paper to keep score!). There are a few outdoor toys, washable crayons and coloring books for kids. Magazines are provided for light reading during your stay as well.
"What To Do & Where To Eat" Information provided:
Dare I say, the information I provide may surpass most vacation rentals in how much and how diverse. It spans the gammmet from nearby ice cream stands (one on the way back from downtown via Patton Ave.), directions (with food descriptions) of prominent downtown and area restaurants and hiking trails - hiking is also available at the cottage. I have taken great strides in providing you with "what to do" with attraction brochures and information I've gathered on my own. One never knows what someone else visiting may be interested in. So when you stay at Newfound Cottage you won't be asking "what is there to do?".
Closing Comment:
It's not too good to be true, we really are on a private secluded mountainside among a forest of trees and wilderness! Pictures cannot convey how in reality this cottage lives or feels. The hot tub, covered front deck and all of the convenient homelike extras thrown in, plus things for your children to do inside and out - this place just can't be beat! There are a lot of wonderful places to have a vacation rental, but Newfound Cottage is situated to be called "among the best". To experience nature in the quiet and calm of a mountainside setting is a luxury some never get to experience. I've been told I could charge more for such a place simply because of the private secluded location along with my efforts put into the decor and provisions, but the rates charged reflect the 1350 sq. ft. size of the cottage, but still offers 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. You won't be disappointed with Newfound Cottage. Yes, this is the "cottage in the mountains" you've been looking for!
Cancellation Policies:
Cancellations made 30 days or more prior to a reservation are refunded less the cleaning fee, taxes and a $75 cancellation fee. Cancellations made less than 30 days prior to a reservation will forfeit 50% of the reservation payment also less the cleaning fee and taxes. Transferring a reservation is the same as a cancellation-dates previously shown reserved prove difficult to rent. No refund given if a cancellation is made on the night before or the first night rented/day of arrival. No refunds due to inclement weather.

- Mountain View: The view from the covered front deck is obscured somewhat. The location of Newfound Cottage promotes privacy and seclusion.

- Telephone: Cordless downstairs, 1 corded upstairs on bedside table. Free local calls. Cell phones are known more not to work in the mountains and so if you need to call long distance a calling card is recommended.

- No Pets Allowed: Most of my own family have allergies to animals. So for our guests who are allergic to animal dander & hair, Newfound Cottage is a "no pets" vacation rental. So those who do have animal allergies can enjoy the cottage in the same condition as those who came before them.
- Kid Friendly: Huge amount of outdoor space for, of course supervised, outdoor activities. Provide adult and childrens board games, childrens books and outdoor toys and Disney movies also provided.
- Minimum Age Limit for Renters: Must be 25 years old or older.
- Smoking Not Allowed: Everything on this mountain can go up in flames if anything inside or outside this house caught fire due to a smoldering cigar or cigarette butt.

- Miniature golf is located on the way to downtown Asheville. WNC Nature Center is located out a main road from the Biltmore area with animals in natural habitats, petting area and wildlife exhibits. Swimming pool and playground is only 20 minutes drive to Canton Park. Public golf course is down the road from the WNC Nature Center and out from the Biltmore area. Miniature gold course is on the way to downtown. Horseback riding is best at the Biltmore Estate. Hiking is right on the property. Rafting is only 20 minutes away at Southern Waterways.

The community of Newfound in Leicester is a farming community. I know what Asheville and other surrounding areas offer, but felt this was what vacationers were looking for for a mountain vacation destination. Perfect location being 5.7 miles from the interstate, but only 20 minutes from downtown and only 25 minutes to the Biltmore Estate and Blue Ridge Parkway.
