My husband and our 3 and 5 year old sons stayed in Kailua Village 602 in mid May. As everyone says the condo is well stocked, well appointed and clean. The location is great too. A short walk to down town Kona and the farmers market, where you can get awesome Mangos, Pineapple and Papaya. It was really great to have a place where I could store and make quick lunches for beach trips and quick dinners for tired beach bums. We'll be recommending it to our friends and we'll stay again if we're in Kona again.

My wife and I really enjoyed our week at this property. All things are as advertised, clean, nicely furnished, complete kitchen, lots of storage/hanging closets, king size bed. Being on the 6th floor we had a great ocean view, nice breeze and never needed the AC. The condo made a great base for exploring the island and the quick walk downtown made the visit very memorable. Only problem, which we got used to, was the morning wake up call from the rooster that lives in the church yard next door, this only added to the home feeling of the condo. You cannot go wrong with this property. Dollar for dollar cannot be beat. Next visit we will stay in the same place.

We stayed at this lovely condo for a week. The condo lives up to its name. We were impressed by the cleanliness of the unit and it was so comfortable that it made us feel right at home. The unit was well stocked with cooking utensils, towels, beach wares….even board games. Janice and Bruce put in a lot of effort to make this place a home away from home. The location is great - walking distance to restaurants, shops, and the pier. We loved to walk down to the farmer’s market where we could get fresh fruits and vegetables (papayas are such a treat here!) We never tired of watching the beautiful perfect sunset over the ocean from the lanai! Mahalo, Bruce and Janice, your thoughtfulness has helped to create a beautiful page in our traveling memory book. We truly appreciate all your assistance. We would love to come back and visit. Everything said in previous reviews is true and more. One could not find a better place to stay in Kailua-Kona. The condo is immaculate, stocked with everything you could possibly need, the view is to die for and it is very comfortable. Alii Drive is just a couple of minutes walk and that is where there are multiple restaurants, shops, the wonderful farmers market, the library and much more. We watched cruise ships dock and unload passengers to come visit Kona, yachts, paddlers, swimmers and one day even watched the stand up paddlers interact with a school of dolphins.....the Kailua Kona Christmas Parade took place while we were there .......all this we watched from our deck! Do not have a single negative thing to say about any of the restaurants we visited , I think we enjoyed our breakfast at Bubba Gump's the most. One evening we drove to Merriman's at Waimea for dinner and that was fabulous. Took a two hour round trip ride on the trolley, which only cost $2 per person and it was fun and we saw places we probably would not have seen otherwise. Met some of the permanent residents of Kailua Village and they were so friendly and welcoming plus gave us inside tips on where to go and what to do. Janice and Bruce are the best! We were so relaxed and happy, we almost forgot to check out. I could go on for pages but you get the idea! Just come and enjoy!
Owner response:Mahalo for your creative expression regarding the joy and aloha you have experienced while visiting our wonderful island.

My wife and I stayed in this condo for a week in June. We were impressed with the cleanliness and well supplied condition of the unit. The description and photo's of the condo were accurate; however, we found that the condo exceeded our expectations. Janice and Bruce stocked the condo with everything you could need for the beach: beach chairs, mats, boogie boards, coolers, and more. The kitchen had more of everything we could imagine to make our home cooked a meals - which we enjoyed on the lanai overlooking Ali'i Drive and the water. They even had assorted bandages which I needed when I stubbed my toe while boogie boarding. The condo's location excellent, walking distance to the farmer's market, to shops along Ali'i Drive, and to Lava Java, which quickly became our favorite stop. The location also was a short drive from variety of grocery stores, shops, and restaurants. Janice and Bruce were very helpful and courteous in answering our questions about the unit and in providing directions to nearby stores. The pool was small - but we didn't use it as we swam in the ocean and rested at the beach nearby. We highly recommend this unit.
Owner response:Mahalo for choosing to stay with us during your visit to the Big Island of Hawaii. We welcome your return, and we appreciate the respect and consideration you showed your home away from home. Aloha, Janice and Bruce

We stayed at this condo in late May/early June, 2011, and everything was just perfect. The unit was so clean and comfortable. We cooked our own meals in the well-equipped kitchen much of the time ...ribs from Costco, poke from Safeway, fresh veggies and fruits from the farmer's market... and had dinner on the lanai as the sun set. After-dinner walks down Ali'i Drive were delightful. Quinn's by the Sea was our favorite restaurant dinner. The location, close to grocery stores, beaches, and just close enough to the action on Ali'i Drive was also perfect. We rented snorkel equipment from a place on Ali'i Drive and beach-hopped during our last few days. Our water shoes worked better than fins at some of the rocky beaches, which are better for snorkeling. Snorkeled in the morning, then went to sandy beaches in the afternoons to swim. The condo has everything you could need for the beach...mats, cooler, towels, noodles, to mention a few. We were also grateful for the laundry soap, as we did laundry once during our stay. I was also thankful for the Hawaii, Big Island Revealed book, because I left mine on the plane. It was a most memorable vacation. We highly recommend this unit, and are looking forward to staying here again.. Thank you so much Janice and Bruce.
Owner response:Mahalo for your kind words. We apprecite your kind review, and we look forward to sharing our little corner of paradise upon your return. Aloha, Janice and Bruce

My husband and myself recently spent a week in this condo while visiting the Big Island. My first impression when we opened the door was of how bright and CLEAN the condo was. Absolutely spotless .. We found the condo very comfortable (king bed was great), and the view was spectacular. Saw beautiful sunsets every night. We have travelled alot and I have rarely seen a place so well stocked .. boogie board, cooler, beach towels, mats .. obviously the owners have put alot of thought into what their guests might need, and we appreciated this. The condo was extremely well situated. We could walk down to Alii drive for restaurants, which was really convenient. The condo complex itself was very simple, not "resort" like, with a tiny pool and laundry facilities. This suited us perfectly, and we felt we received exceptional value for the price we paid. The owner made the rental process very easy. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable, perfectly placed base from which to enjoy all the Big Island has to offer. Happy travels .. Elaine and Chris, Canada

We stayed in January 2011. Acommodations were great. Didn't know what to expect as this was our first time using a vacation rental, but we're totally amazed at the clean and inviting rooms and what a view! A block and a bit from the downtown core, restaurants and shopping. We came here the year before on the cruise ship to find out what part of Hawaii we'd like to come back to and this was the place. It is very laid back. If you didn't have a car rental you could still hit beaches and shopping as there was a shuttle that travelled ali'i drive every twenty minutes or so. We did an awesome horse back ride down the hiking trail to Captain cook monument and they had snorkel gear and a picnic lunch to enjoy and then rode back up. Konacowboy.com was the place, about 20 minutes south of Kona. Bruce and Janice recommend getting the book, Hawaii, the big island revealed and it was a good investment before the trip. They also had a copy to use while there. Would recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing vacation but still close to everything. Would recommend Quinn,s by the Sea, for a restaurant, near King Kamehameha hotel, close to seawall.

This condo was truly like a home away from home. We enjoyed our time here so much we hope we can come back again. It is well equipped like a home and has everything you'll need for a comfortable stay. The ocean views are wonderful - you can even sit up in bed and see the ocean. We particularly enjoyed being so close to the farmer's market and the restaurants along Alii Drive. The condo was very clean, tastefully decorated, with a very nice kitchen and bathroom.

The listing was accurate. The amount of space was perfect for two adults. The unit is on the sixth floor, and has a great view of the ocean, shoreline shops and sunsets. The listing accurately described the appearance and amenities. The unit was remarkably clean and well-maintained. All of our questions were answered promptly and completely. (We chose to use e-mail.) We would highly recommend this rental to relatives and friends. Highlights: The nearby farmers' market which operates from Wednesday through Sunday provides excellent quality produce at good prices. A few miles away, for vegetarians, try the Lotus Cafe, across the street from Costco.

My wife and I stayed here for seven days and it felt like home. The condo has everything you can possibly need to make your stay wonderful.Aside from what is mentioned in the ad it has other ameneties including beach chairs and towels,a cooler, a boom box and a,laundry basket among others. The building's laundry room is huge so there is no waiting for machines to become available. The condo's location is perfect. It is only one block from Alii' drive and all of its restaurants and shops. There is a great farmer's market around the corner as well. Walmart and a Safeway supermarket are a five minute drive away. Our trip to the big island was by far the best vacation we have ever had and this condo with all of it's goodies, incredible location, and beautiful ocean view was a big part of the reason. We intend to return to Kona and we will definately stay here again.

If you are looking for a great place to stay while in the Kailua-Kona area, look no further. This lovely condo is truly a 'home away from home'. Janice and Bruce have thought of every detail for a perfect and relaxing stay in unit #602. Immaculately clean and a perfect location. Walking distance to restaurants, shopping and the beach. I enjoyed morning coffee from this sixth floor balcony, high above the palm trees with the ocean breezes...while watching the cruise ships dock in the bay. Many of the other condos in the building are 'owner occupied' and the folks are very pleasant and eager to offer directions or a suggestion for sight-seeing. As a single gal, I felt very safe coming in from a late night luau with it's well lit and maintained grounds. I highly recommend staying here....this was my second time and I will definitely be back again!

Aloooha Bruce and Janice, Many thanks for the pleasant stay at your condo. There was nothing needed, everything was provided for -- how considerate. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves: breakfasts on the lanai, a most enjoyable breeze being on the sixth floor, a comfortable bed (most important), beach paraphernalia (of which the cooler was used daily), soothing waves in the evening and A/C when we needed it. The "Big Island Review" book was a real asset -- everything you wanted to know at your finger tips. You name it and it was in there. We were especially blessed to have a visiting Gecko say hello one day, then gone. Also thank you to Brad (on site Mgr.) for his helpfulness with knowledge of the island. Yes we would definitely recommend your condo to others and hope for a return trip one day in the future! Mahalo for your hospitality, Jim and Sharon

It's beautifully renovated & furnished. Janice & Bruce were gracious and helpful. The condo is perfectly situated near downtown, with a beautiful ocean view from the 6th floor balcony. It's furnished with everything one could want- dishwasher, beach chairs, picnic cooler, beach umbrella, on-site laundry, etc. We loved it! I'd go back in a heartbeat! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

We loved the location 1 block from the beach. All the extra's (laundry soap, dish soap, beach supplies etc.) were an unexpected bonus. The Condo has a wonderful cooling breeze and with the screens on all the windows we left them open 24/7 and it was beautifully cool. We would love to return to Kona and would definately stay here again. Loved it....!!!!

We're on our last night of our 4 week stay and have enjoyed every minute of our stay. Everything has been as good as advertised and the reviews posted. A very nice clean unit that made a great home away from home. The wireless was great not to have to hunt around town to keep connected. But the best part has to be the location. It's wonderful to watch the ocean from your lanai and be able to walk to the farmers market just below to get your morning papaya or pineapple. While others were hunting for parking to enjoy the attractions on Ali'i drive, we just walked to all of the great restaurants and even the Christmas parade. We would highly recommend the unit to anyone.

Janice and Bruce have thought of everything! We didn't realize how spoiled we were until we left the Big Island for another condo in Kauai. Having all the extras available to guests made us not only feel at home but allowed us to do more things and spend more time relaxing instead of shopping. Also the free WiFi was awesome. It allowed me to send some pictures back to family members each day so they felt like they were on Holiday with us. It was just the laid back vacation we were looking for.

Hello Janice & Bruce, It was much more than we expected! The view was great! We didn't really believe the cruise ship would be outside or room like in your picture but, there it was in the distance. We spent most of the time on the balcony, no one looking back at you like most condo's, so much privacy. The condo was very clean and well stocked. The location was within walking distance to everything we needed, espically the local farmers market. You have to try the local "white" pineapple, it's the best! Thanks so much for allowing us the use of your great place. If we ever make it back to the Big Island we will be giving you a call. Mahalo, Mike & Debbie Dill

My husband and I stayed in this condo from June 21, 2007 thru June 29, 2007. The condo is very clean and has that tropical feeling, you are very close to shopping, restaurants and the farmers market, we went there to buy fresh fruits and veggies. You can wake up nearly every morning and there will be a cruise ship parked out in the harbor. I had the pleasure of meeting Janice on the first day we arrived and she was just full of useful information about where to eat, shop, etc. Janice and Bruce have truely done a wonderful job in renovating their condo to make it feel like your "home away from home" If you decide to eat out try Huggo's, we ate there on our last night and the food was superior and the service was also great, prices are a little pricy but you are on vacation and deserve one special night out. We also went on the Fairwinds sail and snorkle, we took the morning trip, I HIGHLY recommend doing this, it was one of the highlights on our trip, they really know how to do it right on the Fairwinds. Someday we will return to the Big Island and if we do hopefully we will return to this condo. Good work Janice and Bruce, it was a pleasure staying in your condo. Randy and Cathy Roark

What a fantastic condo! Thank you for all the extras . . . it felt like a special home away from home . . . except your condo has a fantastic view of the water, churches, & cruise ships. This was our second visit to the Big Island. Once again we circled the entire island. We spent more time exploring South Kona during this vacation time on the island. So many things to see & do. Highlights of South Kona: Painted Church, Kealakekua Bay, City of Refuge, snorkeling at Honaunau Bay, Garden Eel Cove (amazing fish!) Kona coffee samples & tours, art shops in Honalo, Kainaliu, & Kealakekua & sunsets at Little Blue Church, St. Peters on Alii Drive. Best cheap place to eat - Killer Taco on Kaiwi Street. We did take out and brought the food back to eat on the deck watching the sunset. What could be better! Check out the Kona Brew Co. for great pizza & micro brew. Our favorite thing was relaxing & enjoying the beautiful view in this wonderful condo. We appreciate sharing a piece of Bruce & Janice's Paradise. Mahalo, D & P Hopper

We rented this unit 3/22-3/29/.05. What a great find! This unit felt like having our own apartment in paradise. It is completely new throughout and furnished with quality. The owners keep it so clean that you could eat off the floor. Furnished with everything you could want, including cooler, beach chairs, noodle-toys for pool, lots of towels, and useful cupboard items like band-aids, sandwich bags. storage containers for the refrigerator, etc. We loved watching the cruise ships from the lanai. Traffic along Alii (the main road through downtown Kona) can be pretty heavy, so it was wonderful to be able to walk one block to downtown and never have to worry about parking. Jan was just wonderful to work with. She even provided a ring binder with manuals for all applicances, DVD/VCR, etc, as well as info about Hawaiian words, good things to see and do and places to eat on the Big Island. I almost hate to recommend this great unit because it will only make it harder to get into the next time we go to Kona! Thank you, Jan and Bruce, for sharing this lovely condo with us!

Hi Janice, Your condo(#602) was perfect - In location, comfort and equipments. The close proximity to Kona downtown made it easy for us to walk down to several restaurants, Luau (at King hotel), cruises(at kailua pier) and didn't had to worry about drunk driving :). Your place seemed quite upgraded and well decorated and many things were exactly the way my wife wants our condo in bay area to be. The kitchen amenities were of great help and so were other stuff like beach towels, mats, cooler etc - very well thought out. Would highly recommend this condo. Thanks for comfortable accomodation.

The condo was fabulous! You thought of everything and more. With all of your thoughtfulness to make sure the unit has everything, it really feels like Home! Being only a block from all of the Alii Drive shops and restaurants enticed us to walk almost everywhere. However, the condo is so well equipped and comfortable, we found ourselves spending more time just "hanging out". We felt we had our own Little Shangri La all our own! Because the kitchen set-up was so nice, we could serve our meals and ate on the lanai and just gazed over the waves. Thank you so much for making our visit so pleasant!

The layout, the furnishings, the view, and the location could not be better. You two have thought of everything to make a stay Perfect . . from the beach chairs to the rice cooker. You have overlooked and forgotten nothing. I'm not sure our home in California is equipped as well. As you know, this is my third and J's second trip to the Big island, and we were here during the Aloha Festival activities. We felt that we had the time to really get to see the Island and enjoy the people and the Hawaiian culture. You are really blessed to call this home. Needless to say, we are wondering why the heck we bothered to return! Your condo was lovely and we were honored to take it on its maiden voyage. I've rented a lot of condos in the last 13 years and I must say yours is the best appointed one we've ever stayed at - there were NO inconveniences! I've already bragged on it and will let you know if anyone gets serious. You can certainly use us as a reference if anyone has questions. Hope to see you again, Mahalo to YOU! Lacretia and Bob.
