A beautiful light & airy apartment for two people in the stunning 'must visit' Medieval village of Beynac. Superb south facing garden & terrace overlooking four Chateaux & the Dordogne River. Watch the setting sun turn the river fiery reds & crimsons, as the swans majestically drift by below you whilst the Hot Air Balloons gracefully float above. Stroll through the winding streets lined with honey coloured stone houses, visit the shops & restaurants, art galleries & summer craft market. Relax by the river in the dappled shade of a tree or go with the flow & hire a canoe.....it is all here for you to do in Beynac!!!!A spectacular base for your holiday in a picture perfect location, whatever time of the year you visit.
The lovely owner, Odile Potier, has lived in Beynac for over 20 years & is able to help you arrange a thoroughly enjoyable stay in this wonderful village, should you need it.
Chez Odile is set on the banks of the gently flowing Dordogne river overlooking 4 chateaux and one of the historic sites of the Hundred Years War (1337-1453) between England and France. The stunningly romantic village of Beynac, which rises dramatically from the valley floor and which was once the home of Richard the Lionheart, will enchant and captivate you at every turn, from its narrow medieval streets lined with soft honey coloured stone houses, shops, art galleries and restaurants to its magnificent Chateau, perched high on top the cliff, which has majestically watched over the Dordogne valley since 1150. You may already be familiar with Beynac and the surrounding area from watching such films as 'Chocolat', 'Joan of Arc', 'The Musketeer' and 'Timeline'.
This is one of the loveliest stretches of the Dordogne river and a 'not to be missed' stop for any traveller. The central Perigord Noir location allows you to visit the nearby attractions very easily, whether it be the world famous prehistoric cave paintings at Lascaux, or the World Heritage Classified Vezere Valley with its many Stone Age relics and caves dating from 20,000 years ago. Maybe, you might like to visit the vineyards of Bergerac and St.Emilion, or the perfectly preserved medieval town of Sarlat and some of the many fortified castles and Bastide towns which are all within a short drive from Beynac. If you wish to go Hot Air Ballooning as the sun rises over the surrounding castles that can be arranged too. It is all here for you to do whether its drifting down the river in a canoe or eating at a Michelin starred restaurant, we will try our best to arrange it for you - even the sunshine.

The photos accurately depict this charming loft apartment. Upon our arrival Madame Potier met us in the village parking lot and drove us up the hill to the apartment, showing us where we could shop at local markets etc. The village is small and quaint. Equally as beautiful in the evening. The patio situated one level below the apartment affords an excellent view of the river and valley where we enjoyed a glass of wine while watching the sunset in the company of Madame Potier's dog Artur, who is friendly but not pesky. In spite of the fact we did not speak the same language Madame Potier was charming and cared about our well being. The apartment was very clean and well equipped to make light meals. WiFi and some english TV channels were a bonus. The entire village is hilly, hence the less than 5 minute walk from the parking lot to the apartment on its very narrow medevil streets and pathway is steep. At the apartment one must be able to negotiate the stairs, 2 flights one to the patio and another to the apartment. The Dordgone is charming. We took advantage of the well organized hiking trails, walking to various villages in the area for lunch enjoying a very relaxed pace soaking up the atmosphere of this wonderful rural setting. One particularly charming trail follows the river to another equally charming village. The larger center of Sarlat is only a 10 minute drive away. In spite of the fact we were outside of the tourist season there were enough restaurants in the village and immediate area to offer a nice variety. All were found to be of good to excellent quality. We recommend this property to our friends.

The apartment is absolutely wonderful. The views are to die for - specially from the patio downstairs. Yes we did see the hot air balloons float by above us last evening, while enjoying some wine !. There is so much to do around Beynac. This is one of the most picturesque areas of France that we have seen. If you like chateaux, then this is definitely the place to be. The apartment is very clean and has all amenities that one could want, including wifi. Madame Potier is a wealth of information and is very helpful with all local matters. Madame will assist by bringing up your luggage from the Village parking lot, if you dont have the confidence, or a small car, to drive up yourself. We had no problem with our little Renault Modus. The only downside, is the required climb up the hill and then the stairs to the apartment, it is definitely considered unsuitable for guests who have difficulties with steep gradiants and/or stairs. It is suitable mainly for the fit and 'young at heart'. Having said that, we still enjoyed our stay immensly after the climb up to the apartment after taking a few minutes to catch our breath on the way home. Yes - you will have guessed we are getting on in years and not the fittest couple around! Thank you Madame Potier for a wonderful stay in the "Dordogne"

We stayed for a week in this lovely little apartment. The apartment is spotlessly clean and well equipped. Beynac is a superb spot from which to experience the Perigord Noir and this is a great base. We loved it there and hope to return again soon. Madame Potier is very helpful and guests are made especially welcome by Arthur-her gorgeous dog, and Julie, a very fine cat!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this darling little loft apartment. The views over the mossy rooftops and of the river are truly amazing - don't be surprised to see hot air balloons come sailing past! Madame Potier has a beautiful garden and a special terrace for you to sit and relax enjoying a glass of local wine. Her little dog Arthur gives you a warm welcome each time you arrive home. The apartment is clean and comfortable, the kitchen is very small with no oven but ideal for breakfasts and light meals. There are several neighourhood restaurants, our favourite was Cafe de la Riviere. Beynac is very centrally located with plenty to see and do all within easy driving distance - highly recommend a canoe trip down the Dordogne river. One parks your car (in a very safe well lighted parking lot) at the bottom of the hill and then walk up the quaint little road to the apartment - lots of photo opportunities on the way, however, for anyone with health issues involving steep gradients/ stairs this would not be an advisable choice for you. Madame Potier will gladly assist with luggage on arrival and departure day. Our trip to the Dordogne was most memorable and we loved staying in Beynac in this very reasonably priced apartment. Highly recommended.

My husband and I stayed in this brand new apartment as its first guests for the week of May 24, 2008. It is perfectly charming and immaculately clean, and all the wonderful things that are said about it in its description are absolutely accurate. The town of Beynac is probably the prettiest French town I have ever seen, and neighbouring towns, such as Sarlat, are only a ten minute drive away. Madame Potier, the gracious owner of the unit, is a wonderful source of information about the history of the area, and she simply could not have been more helpful or more kind. We had a wonderful time and would return in a heartbeat.
