We decided to celebrate this valentine and our 3rd wedding anniversary soaking in the romance in the city of love –PARIIIIII. We were very confused with the choices of places to stay as we wanted a very central location, a comfortable and cosy place at a reasonable price. All the clouds of confusion cleared up when I decided to stay at 22 St Severin after reading the lovely and detailed description of this studio by Claude and Violaine and the great deal they offered us. My husband and I had a magical 3 night stay at this place and I can swear by each word of the description provided by the owners. The recommendations and information provided as pre stay mailers were totally handy and helpful. Thanks a lot Claude!!!! The studio is compact yet fully equipped to ensure a memorable and safe stay in paris. We surely could not have got a more central location than this at a better price I bet!! Located bang on the main st severin street, almost diagonally opposite to the historic St severin church this place is just a minute away from the beautiful river Siene and Notredame not forgetting its proximity to the metro and RER stops. Amazing eating joints and creperies are just around the corner. The night life at this side of latin quarter is pretty buzzing with bistros, cafes, jazz clubs, bars lined up in the charming cobbled streets just a few steps away. It was a heavenly feeling to get just hop, skip, jump and crash into the cosy bed at the studio without getting bothered about what hour in the night would be the last metro or how expensive would be a cab to get home. We even cooked a meal one of the nights and the little wonder cupboard at the kitchenette was loaded with anything and everything I could have needed, right from the crockery to olive oil and seasonings…..The WIFI was effective and kept me connected with my family in India, the room heater worked pretty fine and the small collection of travel guides and books on our bedside bookshelf were cherry on the cake. A total VALUE FOR MONEY!!!! The caretakers Chen and Piao were really sweet and very helpful. Aaaah……. I am already getting so nostalgic talking about this holiday I just can’t wait to go back.

We are three girls from Ireland, who stayed in no 22 St. Severin studio in january 2012. what can I say? - The location could not be better! - Waking up to the bells of Notre Dame, only a stones throw away. ( the bells werent too loud :) The studio, was compact, but had a very comfortable bed and a fold out pouffe. Which I slept on. The big windows were lovely, i drank my coffee looking out onto the busy street below. The Latin Quarter is such a vibrant exciting part of Paris. Most Deffinitly the best place to hang your hat. With restaurants galore, plenty of choice for any palatte. The food was amazing wherever we ate. Most especially the 'Aux Trois Mailletx' - arond the corner. What an experience! - Great caberet, great food great wine and Fantastic atmosphere. We met the most lovely people there. We were able to walk everywhere, yes, everywhere. And it was great to flop into bed in our cozy sweet studio. Thanks so much. We'll be back!!

It is even more lovely than the photos. I rented this studio and La Traviata for the first three weeks of November (a wonderful time of year to visit Paris). The location was perfect! I was traveling solo and felt so safe. It was wonderful to be so close to Notre Dame--easy to find your way "home". Metro stations are close, as are buses and Velib (the almost free bikes--go online and set up your bike account before you travel as US credit cards don't have the chip), Monoprix (like Target only with gourmet food!), cafes, so close to the Seine (walk across bridges to Marais). You are smack in the midst of the Latin Quarter. There is a nice bakery/coffee shop, but for meals, I would venture away from the center of this tourist trap. I was pleased with the shuttle service--my flight was an early one and I did some shopping and was overloaded! I flew in to Amsterdam, stayed and took the high speed train to Paris (highly recommend) It was so nice to be able to go to the market and come back to the studio to prepare a meal. St. Severin church is literally out your front door and is so beautiful--be sure to pop in. . During my visit a gentleman sang Ava Maria...candles...it was surreal. I purchased the 2 day museum pass and used it for Versailles, The Louvre, and D'Orsay. For towels, skip BHV...just pack one as they were expensive. Claude and Violane and their helpers were wonderful. I appreciated the information they e-mailed prior to my stay. For flea markets, depending on what you are looking for, Montreil is high end, permanent show-rooms with a lot of furniture and is on the outskirts of the city--I wouldn't go to that one alone. Vanves is more of a neighborhood yard sale (my preference for souvenirs) and was a lot of fun. The first day I took a Fat Tire Bike tour (wonderful) to get my bearings. Had I not, I may not have been comfortable renting a bike on my own. Fat Tire also does a Versaillles bike tour that I heard was terrific. Back to the studio...it is just so feminine and pretty. Windows open for fresh air. I appreciated the guides on the nightstand and a cupboard of everything I needed to prepare meals. Because it is smack in the middle of a touristy section, I expected it to be noisy...it wasn't. Had I not had bags to tote at 4 a.m. (also trains don't run at that hour) I would have followed their advice as the train station is so close. It was my first trip to Paris and it was magical! Enjoy!

We loved our stay at 22 St. Severin last October. We try to return to Paris once a year and this was the most "French" and charming abode we have found. Flowers in window boxes, daytime activities in the bustling streets below our room, very historical with authentic furnishings. Having a kitchen and the Monoprix so close was ideal as was a Boulangerie steps away from the door. We found it very clean and better than the description. We recommend this little apartment to anyone looking for the real flavor of Paris.

My cousin and I wanted to experience "Springtime in Paris" and arrived at the studio in April 2011. I instantly loved the charm of the place, especially the tall windows with flower boxes that overlook two restaurants below. We ended up befriending Rambo the manager of one of the restaurants and came to love his daily chant "French Cuisine, French is good" from 11:00am to 11:00pm. We felt warm and cozy in our studio for the week we stayed and took advantage of the wi-fi and kitchen. I loved the old staircase and the turquoise door that opened with an old fashioned key. Location was perfect - the boulangerie nearby sold the best eclairs! We loved being so close to so many sights, metro, RER, restaurants, bars, shopping. I would bring my towel next time & not pay such a high price for one at the Monoprix. We only had an issue with the shower - the water did not drain very well and the curtain was too long, but it was completely understandable for an older place with such character. It was our first trip to Paris and the studio (with the amazing history) made it even more special and I appreciated renting it from such lovely people as the owners.

Claude and Violaine, Thank you so much for letting us stay in your studios. We had an excellent time and 22 St. Severin was very convenient. We walked every where and visited you "uncle" on the first day and said "Bonjour". We spent all day Friday at the Louvre and saw many spectacular pieces of art (of course, La Jaconde & Winged Victory), plus saw Notre Dame, Ste. Chapelle, and various gardens.

My husband and I stayed in one of the Saint Severin studios for a week this November. The apt was exactly as described and worked perfectly for our needs. It was very close to multiple metro stops, a taxi stand and it was walking distance to many sites & restaurants. Claude and Violaine were very helpful and informative making our trip worry free. I would definitely recommend this apartment to other couples looking to have a great experience and save some money at the same time!

We were pleased with all aspects of our stay in “our” apartment at 12 rue St. Severin. The apartment was neat and clean on our arrival and was attractive, comfortable, and quiet, and far more spacious than hotel arrangements of similar cost. The neighborhood is wonderfully active and close to many museums and parks and is just a short walk from Sainte Chapelle, arguably the most beautiful small interior space in in all of Paris if not the world. The Galland’s local assistant was both accessible and consistently helpful. All in all the apartment makes a fine base for a visit to Paris.

Dear Claude and Violaine, We had a fabulous time in Paris (May 28 - June 11, 2008), and a big part of the experience was staying at 22 rue St Severin. We felt completely safe in this charming, historical studio, and the beds were very comfortable! We loved the sound of the early evening diners, soft voices reaching us from below, while we rested after sightseeing and before finding our own dinner. And the Mardi Gras atmosphere every night. It isn't where you stay if you need quiet, but it is absolutely where you stay if you want to feel part of the amazing Paris night scene. We were delighted to discover the festivites in front of Notre Dame at night, something daytime visitors would never know. And Shakespeare and Company in the evening! For these wonders to be right at our feet every day! We knew we were at the heart of the heart of Paris, no matter where we might venture during the day for sightseeing. We got to know the breakfast staff at the Cafe St. Severin on Place St Michel (the best people-watching place in the neighborhood). They have a breakfast special for 9 euros (plus 3 euros for sunny side up eggs on bacon). During our second week, we didn't even have to order. We would just give a thumbs up to indicate we wanted "the usual." By then we were greeted like family, with warm smiles and hugs. You just have to stay long enough to get to know these busy people a little bit, to get past the status of tourist just passing through for a day or two. Then you start feeling like you really belong. I am already listing the places I missed seeing and must see next time. I am already planning my next trip, though realistically it won't occur for several years! But when I go back, I will definitely want to stay in one of your places in the Latin Quarter. Once you've experienced the best, there's no going back. Thank you for all your help and advice to make my first (but not my last) visit to Paris so spectacular! All my best to you, Jan Hempel Princeton, NJ

The location was ideal for anyone who wants to truly get a Parisian experience. The neighborhood was lovely -- lots of outdoor cafes and shops. You can walk almost anywhere from the studio. The owner sent lots of advance information which was very helpful. The studio could use some updating -- paint, new curtains, updated kitchenette -- as it was looking a litte worn and stove did not work without blowing out the lights. Other than that it was clean and functional. You can't beat it for the price. If it was updated my rating would move up to excellent and it would be a really charming little place to stay in the heart of everything. I would stay here again.

Claude and Violaine, I would like to thank you again for your personal commitment to ensuring an enjoyable experience for Marisa and me. The studio was perfect for our needs and we couldn't have asked for a better location. This was my third time to Paris, and thanks to Paris-Essentials it was by far my best. I wish I could say we would be returning sometime soon, but unfortunately duty calls at home. However, as soon as we possibly can we will be returning to Paris and I have no doubt as to where we will book our studio. It was indeed wonderful to have had the opportunity to meet the both of you. One can plainly see the genuine characteristics that ya'll possess. It is very refreshing to know that when the chance comes again we have someone that we know we can trust with our money and our time. Again, thank you for our week in Paris. I don't think anybody else could have given us this experience. Matt Freise and Maris a Peterson

The studio #3 at 22 Rue St. Severin was absolutely perfect! The location couldn't be beat. Just a few steps from the Seine and Notre Dame. Now that I'm back home and giving out souvenirs to friends and family, I'm remembering all the wonderful places I visited, from Sacre Coeur to the Eiffel Tower, and just walking around the city, along the river - c'est magnifique! I'll never forget how wonderful it was.

I just came back from a dream trip to Paris from a trip I booked at with Claude on his site. My husband and I had a magical time staying in the charming little flat and I couldn't imagine being in a better location at a better price. Thank god some of these charming, inexpensive places still exist in the center Paris. Claude was extremely informative and the place was exactly as he described. I can't wait to go back. Hopefully the exchange rate will be better next time :(

Dear Claude and Violaine Declan and I are back at home now and have sorted things out after our trip. We had a lovely time and enjoyed having our own space in Paris. Thank you for all your help and friendliness. Nai came and collected the tax but I couldn't find the questionnaire you mentioned, however, we would be happy to fill one in and email it to you if you'd like us to. The apartment had everything we needed and was in just the location we wanted. The only thing missing was big mugs (we like big mugs!) so we bought some and left them as a gift for the apartment. We enjoyed sitting by the window with our big mugs and a pain au chocolat, waving at all the other tourists who were taking photos of the building. It was quite funny to think that we'd be in their holiday photos! We walked for miles, (well, as far as the Eiffel Tower one day), had picnics, did some shopping, ate some wonderful food and met up with old friends so it was a perfect break, even the weather behaved itself! Thanks again. All the best Kate and Declan

Claude and Violaine, We returned home from our trip to Europe last week and have finally recovered and adjusted back to Mountain Time. From the vantage point of the hot and dry Colorado weather, we miss the laid back Parisian attitude and the fantastic air conditioned museums. It is good to be home but we still miss being in the great studios in Paris soaking in the culture all around us. Thank you so much for the studio in the Marais and the two studios in the Latin Quarter next to St. Severin. We were truly blessed to have such wonderful accommodations that allowed us the opportunity to live like the local Parisians. After traveling around Europe and staying in many different hotels, we found the studios in Paris to be the most comfortable and inviting accommodations by far. Every studio that we stayed in was very clean and conveniently located within walking distance of all the main attractions in Paris. The studios afforded an atmosphere that allowed us to spend time in the city enjoying the culture as well as spend time in our studios relaxing. Due to this private and relaxing environment we enjoyed our stay in Paris most out of our entire two week journey across Europe. Thank you again for giving us this wonderful opportunity to stay in Paris. Not only were the studios affordable but they offered a much more personal and enjoyable way to experience the magic of Paris than a hotel room. We cannot say in words how much we appreciate your kindness. When we next find ourselves in Paris we will definitely be staying in one of your wonderful studios. Sincerely, Michaela Forsyth and Ryan Smith

Dear Claude and Violaine, Words cannot begin to express the fantastic time that I had in Paris. I believe staying at the St. Severin apartment was a great part of my wonderful experience. It was so centrally located that I could walk to almost anyplace. I loved the apartment! It had everything I could ever want. It was cute, comfortable and much cheaper than any hotel. Thank you for having Nai around in case I needed some help. If anyone asked me about a place to stay in Paris, your apartments would be the first and only on my list. I had so much fun there! All of the information which you kindly sent before I left on the trip really made me feel so secure and gave such helpful hints as to where to eat, shop and insightful historical information of the area. You went beyond any expectation of just being the owner of the apartment. You were kind and concerned about any problem that I might have during my stay. Thank you so much!

Just came back from a week in Paris and I'm missing it already. Having my own little apartment certainly made me feel like I was part of the city and the life around it, not simply relegated to the tourist zone. The place was fabulous and all of the details just as they seemed on the web. I had a lot of questions and concerns about renting from a private owner, but Claude and Violaine were a dream and on top of every little detail. I would certainly go there again, when I can find the time... Ben, NY, NY

Claude and Violaine, Bonjour! Kristen and I would just like to let you both know that we absolutely loved our trip to Paris. The city is so beautiful and lively. We enjoyed the studio with its wonderful access to food, atmosphere, and proximity to several of the immaculate sites in Paris. I also wanted to let you know that Nai was very kind, we saw him twice during our trip and he was so friendly. Now enough about all of that, let's get down to the trip. Paris truly is one of the most astonishing places in the world, from the extravagant churches to the museums to even the police buildings and of course the Eiffel tower. From historic buildings that date back to the revolution to some of the most world-renowned painters and sculptors, Paris has it all. And forget all the stereotypes about Americans being disliked by Persians; we met nothing but friendly entertaining people who never seemed to have any problems with us. We felt that the city was everything that we wanted for our first honeymoon. The city has such a lively and romantic atmosphere that made for a perfect setting for our honeymoon. Another enticing thing about the studio that we noticed while we were there is that the restaurant across the street had a young man who would play the guitar and sing in the late afternoon and he was very entertaining. We would just come home and open our window to all of the wonderful music and sounds of the city. The trip was so relaxing and very easy to get around from place to place. It was like being in a small city with all the culture and history of an immaculate country. Kristen and I would recommend this trip to anyone. Claude and Violaine were so helpful with all of their insight and information to help us prepare for the trip and there truly is no other place that I have seen that would compare to all Paris has to offer. Thanks once again for all of the terrific information and helpful hints. Our vacation went by quickly without any problems or issues. Our trip was all we were hoping for and so much more and for that we thank you. Thanks, Matt and Kristen Allcorn

+ Studios are extremely well located (take a precise map of Paris and you'll notice that the studios are just under the 'r' of Paris :-) that's what we call a centre!) + Studios are much larger than hotel rooms, allow you to prepare your food in the built-in kitchen, that's very pleasant for example for breakfast. + Two doors protect your belongings. + Very very kind householders. ... and still many positive things I'm forgetting !
