What most love about Thailand is the tropical climate. Koh Samui - with average temperatures of around 28 degrees Celsius – lends itself well to travel, with low humidity from July to October. In general, the sun shines the whole year. August is the high season in Samui.
Thailand is a paradise for culinary delights.
A fragrance of exotic foods and spices is always in the air: from curry spices, shrimp paste, coconut milk, garlic, lemon grass, coriander, to the smell of fried fish, lobster, chicken and vegetables. Be enchanted by the flair of Thailand.
Koh Samui has a tropical climate with average temperatures of around 28 degrees Celsius. The weather is generally good all year round, with sunshine and low humidity from July to October. August is the high season on Samui, which is located on the Gulf of Thailand. The best seasons for diving are from January to May, and from September to October.
Temple - Big Buddha
The vast majority of people in Thailand are Buddhists. The temples are a cultural centre for each village. Many of the 'Wats' in the country have become tourist attractions. Remarkably, this disturbs the inhabitants not, and they still go to pray. The most popular attraction is the temple with the golden-covered Buddha statue located on the small island of Koh Faan. A short causeway from Big Buddha beach connects the island.
Hin Ta & Hin Yai
Also known as the 'grandfather and grandmother rocks' – a bizarre rock formation that looks like a female and a male sex organ.
The rocks are the symbol of the southern Lamai Beach, and are among the most photographed tourist attractions. Legend has it, that a couple suffered shipwreck here and became petrified.
Heavens Garden - Garden of Heaven
Here is an extraordinary sculpture garden, which was created by an extraordinary man. Nim Thong Suk was a resident in the fourth generation. At the age of 77 years he began to produce figures.
These figures reflect parts of the story of the Buddha and are located in a romantic and unspoiled wild garden, through which a stream flows down a small waterfall.
On Samui there are some waterfalls. The best known ones are the two Na Muang Falls. The first falls from 18.5 meters directly in the underlying pool of water, in which on hot days you can also refresh yourself. The second falls from 80 metres down, and then flows through several small pools gradually into the valley. While the first is comfortably accessible by car, you need to schedule a walk to experience the second waterfall, and definitely bring sturdy footwear. In the dry season, unfortunately only small rivulets that sneak downthe cliff walls can be found here. Another beautiful waterfall is the Hin Lad waterfall that comes down in several cascades through the rainforest, and ends at a temple with the same name.
Buddha's footprint - Buddha's Footprint
There are four interleaving footprints. Each one is artistically engraved with images of Buddha’s story. The footprint is located in a small shrine, which is accessed by 150 steps uphill. At the top you will enjoy a view over the plains, to the mountains and the sea. The entrance to the temple is not well signposted and is located on the left, about two miles west of the turnoff to the butterfly garden on 4170th street.
Mummified Monks - Mummified Monk
Wat Khunaram: The mummified body of the most revered monk from Koh Samui, Luang Pordaeng is stored and on display. He died more than 20 years ago here, in the same meditation posture. Route 4169 between the Na Muang waterfalls and Hua Thanon.
