Our stay at the House of the Smiling Sun was terrific in every way. The house is as described, the master suite is wonderful and the views from the decks and really everywhere in the house are just perfect! We saw balloons over the area almost daily and enjoyed watching the red rocks under all different lights. The hot tub is a great way to relax at day's end. The location is in a wonderfully quiet, low light neighborhood...we even heard the sound of the birds' wings flapping! I loved that there were many trails within walking distance and the Red Rock State Park less than a mile away - great for hikes and morning runs. Sedona is close and we enjoyed all the sights as well as the nearby Indian ruins. Had an amazing brunch at L'Auberge right along the Oak Creek (pricey but well worth it) and enjoyed lots of local restaurants. The Grand Canyon is just 2 hours away, an easy day trip. The owner is extremely responsive and friendly and definitely strives to make the stay enjoyable. I only hope to be able to come back soon!

An escape to paradise

This house has it all- beautifully location right in the heart of the panoramic region- beautifully furnished, feng shui style atmosphere, a hot spa to die for [ very relaxing and powerful jets], warm and welcoming owners, a short ride to town and totally out of this world views. It really was like being in paradise. We would definately book again- and have already shown our photo's to our friends and family who wan to visit to.Thanks for a great stay in your beautiful home.

Hot Time in Sedona

We spent our 30th anniversary at this lovely home in Sedona. Our group of 6 had plenty of room in which to spread out. The features we liked best were the hot tub and the beautiful star filled skies. The temperatures were high even for the desert in the summer, but we found plenty of places to cool off in the swimming spots near by. We took day trips to the Grand Canyon and to Flagstaff. We took the chair lift at Arizona Snowbowl which was beautiful and allowed us to get into a completely different eco system at 12,000 feet. If you fly out of La Vegas, stop for a kayak trip in the Black Canyon downstream from Hoover Dam. Robert, at Kayak Lake Mead was great. We saw many mountain goats and some hawks while paddling. This property was exactly as pictured. We had no problems booking out trip or having outr questions answered. We would recommend the property and the owners to anyone.

comfortable home with everything you need

we loved the home and had a fab time in sedona. It is one of our families favorite places to vacation and finding this hose was a real treat. The views will catch your breath.Its the first thing you notice when you walk into the house.The views and the spaciousness of the living area.My parents were enthalled with the views and loved getting up early to see the sunrise over the hills in the distance from the homes balcony. my niece and nephew just loved the nature bedroom . It was ideal for them. Beautifully and creatively handpainted in scenes of nature. The kitchen is truly goumet. You will find everything you need to prepare a great meal. We loved the viking grill and the huge dining table where all family could eat together. My sister soaked in the spa with her friend every night. The spa is on the red rock patio and is very large . They loved the powerful jets ,it was a perfect place for them to enjoy their evenings. We have already told our friends about this amazing home. We would certainly love to visit again. Our favorite places in sedona are very close to the house...the hike up Pyramid rock...the vegetarian restaurant d'lish, red rock state park [ this is a must visit ] and it is less than 5 minutes drive from the house. We found the whole reservation process very easy with this home . Thanks for a truly great and very memorable stay.

This home has our top score for value, views, location, comfort and classiness.It was our 5th time in sedona and we wish we had found this amazing home earlier. Everything about the home is wonderful and you wont be disappointed.

We had the pleasure of staying for a month in this wonderful vacation house in sedona. It was like a dream place. i especially loved the hotspa which you can stretch out in - it gives you a full massage from head to toes. It is large enough for a whole family. It was a wonderful experience to take a spa before bed time and fall asleep in front of the fire. The views were on a par with the spa .There are unobstructed views from everywhere- be prepared for the greatest views of red rocks that you can find in sedona. There is a trail from the house to the river. Its a 30 minute walk if you enjoy the scenery along the way. Very beautiful when you get to the river. You can just sit and sunbath. Spectacular. The living room is worth mentioning...it has a big impact when you walk in.....it is large room but feels even larger because there is nothing seperating you for the panoramic views of the rocks apart from floor to ceiling glass sliding doors. You can see the views from everywhere inside...you always feel like you are on vacation. The views at sunset and sunrise are the very best. very magical indeed. Sedona is a great outdoors place. Very inspiring views and natural beauty. I love to be outdoors alot because i live in a cold climate so mostly we spend time inside. This house is totally beautiful inside. One of a kind. Its perfect for reunions, romance, family holidays and definately worth checking out for any special occasion. You can tell the house is designed for pure comfort. There are two large comfortable designer sofa's ....which you can sink into . The fire place is large and heats the whole house .... i loved my bedroom...its a hand painted room for children ... but for me it would have been the one i chose. The master bedroom is stunning..has a black granite shower and jacuzzi tub...my mom loved that . The house is located in the panoramic area. Its a fine neighborhood and very peaceful . You can rent bikes inexpensively in town which is 10 minutes away. A jeep tour, balloon ride and several restaurants in town made this a very memorable holiday. One day i would love to go back to sedona and would definately rent this house again and again and again.Thank you for making our stay a holiday to remember.

This was our favorite home so far from many family vacation destinations that we have travelled to. The views are indescribably stunning. The home is full of family comforts and so beautifully situated...not too far away from town, yet far enough to enjoy the peace and quietude of the surrounding area's of this homes location. Its rare to find a home with these sort of views. We spent so many hours of fun playing games on the deck. There is lots of room inside and out to enjoy the views, dine, and relax.

my family visited arizona for a very special occasion and we finally picked this home.It reminded us of a typical Italian Villa.we were very happy with everything here.You wont believe the views from this home.They were some of the best we saw in sedona.you would have to climb a mountain to get better views.The area is peaceful like it mentions in the description.especially at night time when there is such a special feeling there.the house inside has every comfort you can wish for.We couldn't have picked a better place to stay . Everyone felt the same.The living area is spectacular.You dont find many area's as large and spacious as this. It is hard to describe .it is a very special home in a very special place.Everyone fell in love with town of sedona.We loved the Italian restaurants and the hiking, the cafes and the art stores.we purchased some unique presents to take home. It was a lot of fun . very friendly , welcoming people.Having a big hot spa that fit the whole family was great.we spent a lot of time on the deck looking at the views.We liked the big fire place and the kitchen.very luxurious. You dont get a kitchen much better than this.We have only good things to say,thank you for a great home , a great base and for wonderful hospitality.

I'm happy to write a recommendation for this house because it was perfect for our trip and we felt so happy to have a home with so much luxury, views, clean, great location,huge jacuzzi , beautiful surroundings... and so close to town. Its the kind of house you don't forget in a hurry- a really special one.For sites in sedona we recommend the boynton canyon hike...restaurants- definately the chocolata cafe...for breakfast there is the 1000 cafe and the chinese res. in uptown near the bagel bakery is great.There is a place called New Frontiers which is great for shopping groceries and has a deli - very reasonably priced.Thank you for a great house and welcome.

Perfect place for a great vacation

We have stayed in this vacation home twice now and have loved every minute being there.The owners are delightful people to rent from and very attentive . The process is easy and the house is impeccable in every way.The first time we stayed alone- and were offered good discounts for just the 2 of us...the second time we took our children and one grand daughter...9 in total.They loved sedona and the house both times made our stay very special.There is nothing to prepare you for the outstandingly awesome views....There are no views that i have ever seen like these.Other big plus factors are the hot spa- very theraputic- The living room- tall ceilings- great space for a large family - and the comfort of the home as a whole.We Just loved it there.We recommend a visit to Tlaquepaque- with its cobbled stoned pathways and italian feel atmosphere and beautiful arts and craft shops and clothing boutiques- it's a great shopping treat for the ladies.The best restaurant recommendation is Dean and Delucia's...and for the kids it was Piza haven.There is also a good health food store for lunches- New Frontier's . Hiking is fabulous in sedona.The views are just amazing.There is the pyramid trail close to the house [ easy hike ] and Boynton Canyon [ moderate hike].The skate park was a hit with our grand daughter- it's 15 minutes away from the house in mid town Sedona.Thank you for a great house to stay in .It made our vacation a real pleasure.

Magical house in sedona- Loved it!

This home is truly spectacular in every way.Our guest party of 6 spend a glorious vacation in Sedona and loved every minute of it.The house has our highest recommendation...it is like having your own hotel...but private and very comfortable.Detached , with out of this world views of red rock terrain...great large kitchen with views from every window made preparing meals a delight....bedrooms are plush and even the beds were made like you would expect in a hotel.Huge living room has open fire and logs were left which we enjoyed....Hot tub was divine....powerful jets and great views once again....there were alot of little extra's that we haven't experienced in other rentals which we appreciated.Thanks for great service and a beautifully prepared home.

Incredible views

The first thing you notice when you walk in are the panoramic views.They are out of this world.The house faces cathedral rock and there are panoramic views all around.A very beautiful area to stay in. The living room is about 20x 20 -its very large but still cosy.The living room is open plan with the kitchen and dining room.theres 2 places to dine inside and out and the views are right there .Quite an experience i must say- you dont need to go far to capture the best photo's of sedona...its all right there from the house.The photos of the house on vrbo dont catch the spacious ness.I guess its hard to fit a whole room like this in the photo.The Master bedroom is also much more spacious than it appears....The highlights of our stay were the views, the hotspa, the comfortable beds, the professioanl sized kitchen with everything working .There is a handpainted childrens room which is beautfully done...that had a wow factor for our children...they also enjoyed the walks to the creek and the film library supplied including children's films.The garden is smallish for the size of the house ...we got a little history and the garden is terraced because it is on the side of a creek.the kids loved watching the hot air ballooons flying across the canyon....they also saw havellinas which was a highlight.What i loved most about this home was that it is hidden away from town and town if you need to go shopping is only 10 minutes drive.It was like having our own villa for a month.There is a big folder of restaurant and activities in the living room which we found helpful...we went to all the restaurants and the recommendations of the owners are excellent.A very healing and tranquil place...we loved it and would love to go back.

Owner response:Thank you for you review.Yes we agree that the 3rd bedroom does provide the "wow" ! factor for children.It is not surprising that they love the scenes of nature painted on the walls- which look so true to life.However, you would be surprised how many adults love sleeping in the nature bedroom , too! They tell us that it takes them back to their childhood days. We also agree about your comment regarding the garden- it is small for the size of the house- however, our land extends beyond the garden walls and we have several hide away coves under the trees and a red rock fir pit... we like to think of the whole panoramic view as our back garden.There are definately positves to a home on the side of a canyon- which are the spectacular views, opportunities to observe wildlife , walk to the creek and the peace and quietness .We are happy that you liked our restaurant choices.sedona is truly spoilt for choice where dining is concerned.It was a pleasure meeting your children .Best of luck for the future.

Spectacular 360 degree views from heavenly home

wow! we made a great choice with this home.Myself and 5 girlfriends rented this home for a reunion.We wanted the best of all worlds...to be close to a town,close enough to spend the day at the grand canyon, stay in a private home with a hot spa or pool and have a large enough home to be together sometimes but also not be on top of each other.This home offered all we could dream of needing.The deck overlooking those amazing views was incredible....Most people love sedona for the natural beauty and you dont have to leave home to get all the views you need here.The deck was where we spent most time as a group.It has comfortable seating- as well as a dining table for 8 people and full on views of cathedral rock...i mean you just dont get better than this house for views.The house inside is very tasteful...interesting artwork on the walls, beautiful simple and elegant furnishings...lots of wood and slate and windows with views of the red rocks.i highly recommend this home to vacationers.It is very unique in its location and totally private and you just dont realise from the photos the extent of the natural beauty surrounding this home.Thank you for a delightful stay.

Outstanding home - great town

Our family selected this family villa for a reunion.It turned out to be a brilliant choice..we loved every minute of lounging on the deck and watching amazing sunsets and sunrises.The hot spa is a great bonus too.We felt completely re juvenated and relaxed at the end of our stay and look forward to returning.So, if you are looking for a comfortable , luxurious, unique home with incredible views- this may be the place for you.Thank you for a great stay and the many extra's.

We stayed at this magnificent home in sedona's panoramic region and were very happy with our selection.We searched for a special home for a special occasion and that is exactly what we got.there are too many good things about this home to write about them all...but among the one's we were most impressed with were - the views [ unbeliveably amazing] - , the welcome and hospitality of the manager, The comfort and size/spaciousness of the home, The hot spa and the actual location.the home is in a peaceful region - very close to town and all major shopping- yet it feels as if you are in a rural setting- with spectatcular views over the mountains and red rock's.The check in and out procedure were very easy, all of our questions were answered in a timely manner and the information left at the home about sedona and all there is to see in the region was very appreciated.This is a well cared for home and a very special place....the kind of place you will want to re visit over and over.

Out of this world views and stunning retreat home

Its going to be hard to write this review because i dont know how to describe the sheer beauty of the views.I could start by saying that i am a very active person- like to hike and explore and get out and about.However, this house was so incredibly comfortable and the views were so astounding that i stayed home with my wife most nights and enjoyed a bottle of wine overlooking the scenes.The hotspa was a great experience too- wow ....It is so relaxing you get a deep sleep afterwards.The house is in the low light zone- so you have to be sure and turn all exterior lights off at night...the rewards are that you get to experience the dark night sky and the brightness of the stars.We live in the desert and are used to dramatic skies at night but this was unbelievable.The views from the homes huge deck are unobstructed.cathedral rock looks so close.The mongolian rim spreads out behind the Cathedral rock formation...i dont know the names of the other rocks- but the views are unimagionable.I dont think you could find views like these everywhere in sedona because this particular home is on the edge of red rock state park in a panoramic view area.We could see the hot air balloons gliding over the valley below on sunday morning- so i guess this area is of particular interest for its views and landscaping. The rest of the things you expect were all there: cleanliness- it was spotless and smelled divine as we entered.The towels and linens were fine and the amenities all there that were listed on the ad.The manager was a joy.She was very helpful and professional.She gave us lots of recommendations when we asked and some of them we tried were great experiences.This is a home for special occasions, definately for family affairs, i would even say honeymoons. The home is for total relaxation.We highly recommend it.Lastly, we found that the price for this home was very reasonable .We definately could not have found the same quality and views in a hotel in sedona.

Amazing Retreat

I am delighted to review this property.My family were so happy with all aspects of this home-Its location is breathtaking- with views to die for from every room in the house, even the bathrooms. The living area has tall cathedral ceilings and a sense of cosiness.It has great amenities such as a deck and a huge glass wall leading to the deck which means that you can see the views and the different lighting and colors of the scenery throughout the stages of the day. The kitchen is truly gourmet and has a viking stove and sub zero refridgerator.All of the bedrooms are special but the childrens room was my favorite- tastefully handpainted in a nature scene. There is a courtyard and large hot tub with beautiful plants and i especially loved the walk from the garden to the creek.This is a truly magical villa retreat .A one of a kind experience.Our only complaint was not having more time to stay in this beautiful home.lastly, the owners are very accomodating and kind.that makes a big difference when your away from home.

This vacation home is first class in every way.The views are out of this world.The location is perfect.The inside of the home is comfortable and impeccably clean.The hotspa has powerful jets and you get a true massage and total relaxation.I cant say enogh to recommend this home to others who may be visiting sedona.It is an incredible experience to be there and you leave feeling totally rejuvenated and refreshed.
