Why the Owner Chose Private Homes: Siesta Village
We decided to purchase an home in beautiful Siesta Key while living in the UK. We wanted to make a change and move somewhere new and has been hearing so much about the area...it was getting so much press there at the time! We initially came to Sarasota and were not sure where to look, but one day we drove over the bridge to Siesta Key and we fell in love immediately. There was no question at ALL, we knew we had found our paradise. We walked through the village and walked to the beache and saw how BLUE and CLEAR the water was and we could not believe it. Neither of us had seen anything like it and we had traveled a lot! We got straight on our laptops and looked up homes online on a realtor website. We saw the listing and the rest was history! :-) We saw the home the next day & we put in an offer that next morning. We moved a few years later from England to live in Siesta Key after renting the house out to vacationers. We knew we had to be there all the time.
We lived in Siesta key for about 2 years. In that time we had our first daughter. Technology business opportunities brought us to California which is also very lovely. We are very happy here, but we do really miss Sarasota and Siesta Key though and there is not a day that goes by that we do not think about it and genuinely really miss it with our heart. A very special place in this world. We also have some amazing neighbors in Siesta and we still talk to them and email. You will probably be lucky enough to have them wave hello to you and start upbeat conversations during your stay at Key West Cottage! Such special people! You must take evening walks around the neighborhood or early morning walks into the village!!!
:-)
The Unique Benefits at this House
Key West Cottage is a truly special place. When staying at the house, we love to sit by the pool (art deco tiled) sipping a nice cold drink and flipping through a magazine or book as we gaze at the tropical gardens. We love BBQ’ing and eating on the deck in the evenings when staying in. If we go out we love to eat somewhere casual like the HUB in the village. or one of the spectacular restaurants in town! One of our favs is the Sand Bar - outdoors, music, right on the beach..you can go barefoot! :-). We love that we can relax in the Master and see right out to the pool...watch it glisten in the sun...tempting you to come in. What we miss so much about Key West Cottage is the just relaxing amazing feeling you have when you walk into the property. We felt it the first time we walked in to view the home...and we still feel it today whenever we visit! Just like a feeling of leaving your cares and worries at the door, take off your shoes and feel yourself be carried away to paradise. So nice to be able to walk to the village too! Our neighborhood is village close, but also enough away that you are not amongst the crowds and the touristy feeling. So it is quiet!! Really nice! :-)

Our names are Kirstin and Elliot, we are married and have a 2 year old daughter and a golden retriever! :-) We currently live FT in California now, but always dream of our sweet Siesta even after moving 2 years ago. Elliot is British from Surrey originally and runs his own technology consultancy company here called Squeeze Technology. He does projects for customers in the USA and Europe and his passion right now is cloud based computing. Kirstin is American and from San Francisco originally and is a stay at home mom who also designs fancy vintage inspired hair accessories and bridal veils! Spending time with our daughter and family is our main focus and love. We love to travel, love house decor and renovating/updating and enjoy the simple things in life, like eating at a casual breakfast place or shopping the day away! We love watching the sunset and having cocktails and a fun dinner outside!

We meet the extended family in Florida every year for the holidays. This year we decided to stay at Siesta Key to be close to my older brother in Sarasota. The weather was spectacular and the house was awesome. We enjoyed the hot tub and pool every day & night too. The house is clean, comfortable and has everything you need! The village and beach are close enough to walk, but far enough that the neighborhood is nice and quiet. This is the best house we have ever rented. We will definitely be going back again! Thanks Elliot

Our second visit to Siesta Key Cottage, and it has quickly become a favorite place for vacation. No worries about what awaits....it is always clean and tidy. The spacious rooms and convenient floor plan are a big part of what sets this property apart.Another big plus is the garage with plenty of space for two vehicles and bicycles.( There are lots of bike paths throughout the island.) The neighborhood is quiet yet close to great beaches. A beautiful backyard with large heated pool and separate hot -tub will delight anyone that doesn't swim in the sea. The modern kitchen and outdoor deck overlooking the pool makes eating-in a pleasant choice. There are simply no hassles at all, thanks to Elliot & Kristin's foresight in making this house so comfortable. We look forward to returning each year to this truly exceptional place. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. House was clean, roomy, and had tons of amenities which contributed to a great vacation. Very good location for trips to Tampa, St. Petersburg, the Keys, Mykatta State Park, the beach, and all the features of the Ringling Brothers. So much to do. . .so little time.

My husband and I just rented this house for our vacation. It is so spacious and has all the amenities! We didn't even use the upstairs, which has three bedrooms. The pool and hot tub are relaxing. The restaurants and beaches nearby are fantastic. We went to four different beaches that were all quick to get to by car. The white sand of Siesta Key Beach is amazing, and the amount of sharks' teeth we found in Venice beach was pretty wild. We enjoyed going to Javier's in Crescent beach and the Veg in Sarasota. Elliot is great to work with; you can tell they care about their home and Siesta Key, which was reassuring for us as we didn't know about the area and where to stay. We would recommend this house to others!

This house is perfect!!!! We went for 9 days to Siesta Key, 3 kids(6-9 yrs old) and my wife and I. The kids each had their own room upstairs and we got some adult time after the kids were in bed to enjoy the house. The house has a great lay out and there is an entrance from the pool area to the master bath for the kids to change and shower. Everything needed for cooking was in the kitchen and we BBQ'd a few days. The pool is a big enough for laps, splashing around and very private, so the kids loved it and so did we. It is about 6.5 feet deep and maybe 3 feet in the shallow end. The village is right up the road on Treasure Boat Rd, maybe a 3 minute drive, tops, to the #1 beach in the nation. Get there early and get a parking spot, the sand is the softest you will every expereince. The sunset is beautiful @ Siesta Key, I would compare it to a Key West sunset!!! Their is a publix's grocery store right off the island on Osprey, just south after you go over the bridge on Siesta Dr. Tampa Bay is about an hour twenty minutes away and we spent a day at Busch Gardens, not a bad drive. We also ventured down to Venice and did some shell and shark teeth hunting as well. Here is my information on restaurants: Daquiri's on the Deck: very poor; all fried and feels like a tourist trap. Old Salt Dog: medicore; Lots of fried food, good drink pours, but good fish sandwich, grilled. The Hub: Average: The food was good and more to choose from then fried food. The Garden Cafe: poor, terrible grits and not so good service. We didn't make to the Lobester Pot, but will next time. Big Olaf is great for ice cream. We ventured to the main land for some other restaurants. Strongly recommend Althea's in Venice for breakfast and Word of Mouth off Osprey in downtown Sarasota for breakfast. Bottom Line: Beautiful house, very clean, lots of towels etc, great location for piece and quiet, yet close enough to get to the beach and village, fantastic pool and a beach that is ranked #1 for a reason. Great sand, calm waves with 80 degree water and unsurpassed sunsets! Just repsect the property because other patrons leave things behind for other families to use, such as pool toys, baskets and shovels etc. Thsi is the place to stay.

The house was wonderful, moden kitchen, great pool. Elliot was very easy to work with. Loved the local restaurants - Salty Dog, Broken Egg are great. The beach is one of Florida's best, perfect white sand. We like that the house is close to the beach yet tucked away from the main busy area. The pool is very private. We enjoyed it, this was our second stay stay at this house.
